Night shift calorie counting

I am a nurse and work 12 hour night shifts, 3 nights a week. I have been calorie counting on and off for a couple of years but have been really sticking to it since this last January. So far so good!!!

My calorie log starts from midnight to midnight everyday. Is this how the rest of the night shift world calculates their calories or do you calculate bedtime to bedtime? (My sleep pattern varies ALOT.)

I usually do bedtime to bedtime but sometimes I adjust it if I am up for an extended period of time...but it usually all works out (more on the long day and less on short day).

Bedtime to bedtime for me.

Hi shellerooski! When I did night shift, I did it midnight to midnight. Here was the reason why. sometimes when I was soooo tired, I either didn't have time to eat when I woke up in the afternoon, or wasn't hungry. But usually I did want something to eat just before laying down in the morning. I slept better with a full tummy. I knew my calories started again at midnight, and the first part of the shift went so fast anyway. I think it still boils down to calories in/out. Night shift is hard on the body no matter what, and I feel for you! Good luck. ;)

I do bedtime to bedtime. I am a notoriously nocturnal housewife. I go to bed a bit after sunrise as I rarely can get to sleep before that, and get up early to mid afternoon. When most people have dinner I have lunch, which is a good thing because I do MUCH better with my big meal earlier in the day. Where they say don't eat after 8, I don't eat after 2AM normally.
