What are your favorite snacks? I am trying to find new things so I don't get bored and wondered what other calorie counters had for snacks.

We call the Fiber One bars Farty Bars in this house! They do make a good snack though.

I'm hooked on Cracked Black Pepper Triscuits (6) with Laughing Cow Light Cheese. Celery Sticks with the Laughing Cow are also yummy. Add a few almonds to that and it's a pretty good snack.

Light string cheese, 1/2 apple and a few nuts.

Nothing too creative here - most of my snacks are fruit, popcorn, yogurt. I have also been known to make a big salad as a snack if I need something to really fill me up for just a few calories. I eat almost constantly, though - many of my meals are indistinguishable from my snacks, calorie-wise - I usually classify them as meals if they contain more than two ingredients and take a bit longer to prepare than a snack.

dgramie 02-12-2009 10:47 AM

Favorite Snacks

Here are a few of my favorites:

Multi-grain Cherrios
Light Laughing Cow Cheese on Fiber-One crackers
80 - cal yogurt
Snackaway treats
X-treme hi-fiber tortilla's with ff cheese melted
fruit
pretzels
diet hot chocolate
hard-boiled eggs
Fiber Gourmet noodles with a little Promise mixed in
FF/SF pudding with SF Cool Whip
Baked Tostitos with salsa
40- cal bread with a FF hot dog and lots of mustard

I've noticed that I also rarely eat an acutal meal...it's mostly mini-meals or snacking.

String Cheese
Hummus
Frozen Grapes
Dry Cereal

Roasted Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans - I recently found a recipe for these that is soo good. Spray beans with butter spray, coat with any seasoning (cajun, greek, ranch, etc) and bake until crispy. They are low fat and high protein and definitely fill my snack cravings, it's like the satisfaction of eating potato chips without the guilt. And you can season differently to keep things fresh.

redflatshoe2 02-12-2009 10:17 PM

1/2 cup blueberries
1 oz almonds
1 wedge LF laughing cow cheese
SF Jello
dark chocolate dipped strawberry

BabyGotBack 02-13-2009 12:19 AM

I like to have:

Veggie Booty (corn snack with spinach and kale)
hummus and baby carrots
110 calorie Pria bars
Wasa rye crackers with Laughing Cow cheese
110 calorie yogurt
an apple

But I was getting tired of the above, so I'm glad you started this thread. I now have some new ideas!

MissLoud 02-13-2009 02:58 AM

ooohhhh - my current favorite is WW Strawbery mousse with sliced up Stawberries from my garden - devine!

Su-Bee 02-13-2009 08:17 AM

I forgot to mention - one thing I've gotten into recently is canned pumpkin. It's about 100 calories/cup, & lots of good nutrition. Sometimes I mix it with pie spices & heat it in the microwave, other times I mix it half & half w/ vanilla yogurt. I'm sure there are other yummy things to do with it too, but those are my standbys right now.
