what is your weigh in routine?
My husband just pointed out how hilarious I am when I weigh in- I posted this in the 300+ forum too because I am a member of that group but since I'm also a calorie counter I thought it would be fun to post it here too!
my routine is I always do it first thing in the morning because I truly believe I weigh less in the morning.. -I wake up-stumble outta bed -go to the bathroom push out every possible thing I can from my bladder and bowels... LOL -wont drink or eat a bite until I've weighed in- not even a sip of water -strip down naked no socks even -take out any hair bands bobby pins what ever I might have in my hair -remove all jewelry including wedding rings- oh and my glasses..lol -fully exhale-hold breath -step on the scale....LOL -repeat until i get the same number twice! LOL -go update my ticker and my info on the daily plate and here! blog about it on my myspace! :) is any one else as anal as me? |
I do the same exact thing as you, but since it is the AM I don't have anything in my hair or my jewerly on :) I have a nice WW scale, so one time one the scale usually works for me!

I really do try to JUST weigh once a week, every Sunday but, sometimes the temptation is just to great and I hop on the scale after I pee. I keep telling myself I am going to "hide" the scale from my sight but, I am yet to do this.

I am with you! My routine is almost exactly like yours. Differences - I leave my glasses on because I could not see what the scale says without them. In addition, I have to get the same weight for three days in a row before I count it.
I could use a new scale but hate to change because I know I will weigh more on a new scale. The old one still lets me know that I am on a downward trend. |
Roll out of bed, strip PJs off, hop on scale, cuss like a salty sailor or smile sweetly (depending), write down weight on calendar hanging by scale.
I used to be more anal and have more ritual, but I've weighed in everyday for over a year and it's becoming a little less dramatic. Thank gawd! |

see i can't do that.
however, i do find i eat less the morning of a weigh in (i weigh monday evenings now) and i always try to go to the toilet more often than i would do usually before i get weighed. hee hee though i think that's a natural reaction to knowing i have to step on the scales. i wear the exact same clothes each week too. and i know how much they weigh from me wearing nothing too sad right? |
I wake up and go to the bathroom. Then I step on the scal with whatever I wore to bed on. Usually a pair of pj pants and a tshirt. I like to see the same number a couple days in a row before I record it. I step on and off until I get the same number twice too. Sometimes it takes like 5 time too! LOL! Darn scale.

I only write down my Friday weights. I will mvoe my ticker if I see something a few days in a row though. Not that that's happened lately....

somewhat "anal" about it and I do have a ritual, wake up, use bathroom, walk to scale wearing T shirt and boxers and get on 3 times, I use the highest weight usually. I do this every day besides the weekends and I record the weight on Friday on an excel sheet that I use as well as my blog which is listed in my sig.

Haha same! I only do it once a week. I usually even wait until I hear my stomach growl before I weigh myself. I have to leave on my glasses though cause I can't even SEE the number on the scale without them.

Boy this sounds so familiar. I do the same very, very first thing in the morning within 5 minutes of waking up.
But I have TWO scales because who knows one might be reading me wrong...good grief. One is mechanical and tends to weigh me a pound lighter than my Tanita electronic scale which tells me my percent of body fat. Try to weigh only twice a week for my own mental health. |
Haha! I am weighing myself for the first time tomorrow AM (I am also convinced I weight less in the morning) and I also use the bathroom, remove all heavy jewelry (you know, the big diamonds and such ;) and I leave my pj's on. I don't like to weigh myself naked because if I were ever in too big a hurry to strip down, then I might disappoint myself, lol.
I only weigh myself one time a week and one time at that time, it has never occurred to me the scale could be wrong. It's digital and tells me my fat%, my H2O% and muscle mass. |

I gt up, pee, then weigh in. I usually am wearing shorts and a t shirt so I don't take anything off- I tried it a few times and there really was never a difference. NOW if I could keep losing! |

I am the same. Get up, pee, strip out of my PJs, step on the scale, put a dot on the weight chart I keep in the magazine holder in my bathroom. Then I put on my robe, get back into bed and wait for my morning coffee delivery -- via my much loved and appreciated husband who brings it to me in bed every morning when he hears that I am up and puttering about. We then turn on CNBC for a few minutes, to see what the markets are doing, before he leaves for work and I wake up the kids to get them ready for school. Can you say predictable?

I read somewhere your true body weight is weight after being up for 1/2 hour & on empty stomach. And you usually gain 2 or 3# during day which is what you have eaten & drank over the day.

Ever since starting my weight loss journey some 22 months ago (:yikes: where did the time go to) I have had the same ritual every morning to weigh in. Though I only record Friday's weight for the weekly weigh in. Here is my routine.
I hate it if I am sleeping at someone elses house as a guest and I can not carry out this routine :o Talk about creature of habit ;) |

:lol: Don't lead me into bad ways ;) Now don't think I haven't thought of packing the bathroom scales when staying over because I have. I have managed to avoid so far being so obsessed by the scales to the point I can not bear to be parted from them. Gosh is a road I certainly do not want to go down at anytime

A doctor once told me to only weigh myself once a MONTH. A MONTH!! His reasoning was to keep sane through the body's natural ups and downs with water etc. I see where he was coming from, but I personally need to reassurance once a week to know that I am staying on track. I go through fazes of wanting to weigh every day, or every other, and really it just makes me crazy. I try my hardest to just stick to once a week. Monday mornings.
I just bough a new scale that doesn't tell you your weight, just the amount I've lost (hopefully not GAINED)... the idea is to promote positive body image, and not to focus on the number. It hasn't come yet, so as soon as I start using it, I will be sure to let you know what I think! |

oh man. i just bought a scale on monday when i joined 3fc. for years i avoided having one because i felt what was important was how i looked not how i weighed. which i still believe in principle, but in the meantime i've completely blown up. i was totally blind sided when i was weighed at the doctor in october.
unfortunately, since having the scale in my bathroom, i've reverted to my h.s. habits of weighing myself numerous times throughout the day. ideally i'd like to get down to once a week. but the first thing the morning and last thing at night weigh ins are always done in the buff. |

LOL nope. I just stumble outta bed in my pajamas and weigh myself (every Thursday). I try not to depend too much on the scale. I concentrate more on my pant size.

I then re-dress, grab some coffee and write my weight in my journal...then as soon as everyone is off to work and school, I sit down and immediately change my 3FC ticker!
It's funny how much different I am than my husband who has never cared about his weight in his life. When I was nearing the low 200's I knew I had to be getting close to weighing less than him. One afternoon when he got in from doing chores I asked him how much he weighed. He says, "I don't know, I'll go check". He goes into the bathroom with his work boots, coveralls, and winter coat on (+ his regular clothes) and weighs himself, (at 4pm!!!). He's hollers out, "208". I'm like..."you weighed yourself like that???" He says, "well sure, how do you weigh yourself?".....LOL if he only knew! |
LOL!! Ok now I don't feel I am doing it right. I do it the first thing in the am and I am usually naked because I do it right before my shower but not so anal about it. Dang! Note to self....lol

My routine is on Saturday morning - but it is pretty much the same as everyone else. First thing in the morning after going to the bathroom, totally naked, on the scale that sits on a cement floor. Then I update it on fitday and here while my cup of coffee brews. :coffee:

Aaahhhh! I never thought to weigh myself more than once!!! My morning is wednesday (although I do cheat and weigh every morning, wed is just the day I admit to the public) Plus I don't get naked, just underwear and tshirt. One thing is for sure it really makes my whole day when the scale shows a decrease.

I get up, go to bathroom, usually wear shorts and t-shirt and weigh myself. I do it everyday and just today i changed my ticker after weighing in. so i'll probably continue changing it as i go along.
