Hi L144S, How do you run an auction for a school? Are you the person who finds the stuff to auction, or are you the auctioneer? And how did you get that job? Are you a professional fundraiser? Maybe too many questions. But it sounds like an interesting job.
I just did a mile on my exercise bike. I was trying to do 3 but I'm just too tired to go any further. Maybe I'll finish tomorrow. |
Good news to report today! When I peeked at the scale Wednesday it showed a two pound loss. I was able to maintain that for my offical WI day of today. LW I was 167 this week I am 165! Wish it came off a lot faster but I will take the two pounds this week!

YEAH Shannon! good job!
Retiredone, not too many questions :) I do all kinds of things, I will brainstorm for solictation items but because i work with more than one school, I don't actually do the ask. It isn't fair to ask for more than one school. I orginize the event such that I deal with the flow of the event, but I don't do decorations or food etc. I will process data and write up decriptions if a school wants that. i run check out the night of the event and will help with registations, setting prices for item, I do all of the paper work like tax letters, bid sheets and Gift certificates made by the auction commitee. I will help number a catalog, run an online auction help orginize volenteers, etc. it really depends on what the school needs. Some schools only want software and website trainning other schools want the whole package. All of the schools I work with are trying to raise 80-300 thousand dollars depending on the size of the school so it can be a big undertaking. I have been on plan, but I need an extra 45 min of cardio this weekend to make up for what I missed the last 2 days. It shouldn't be too big a problem with a long weekend in my future. I will add that it is desperatly cold here. in the single numbers which make it just that much too cold for me to walk outside.... Happy OP day everyone! |

On the dieting front, I went away from calorie counting for a while. I got off track over the holidays and then tried to do South Beach. That lasted less then a week. I guess I just dislike food rules and I missed having fruit and butter when I felt like having fruit and butter so I will stick to calorie counting and just make better choices in regards to what foods I am eating. I am going to stick to 1700 per day. I'm still waiting for that new YMCA they are building literally 5 minutes away from me to open up. It was supposed to open up this month but the opening has been delayed to March or April now due to all the rain we had here last summer. I am doing what exercise I can in my house thanks to my workout dvds but because of my mobility issues and the cold weather AND all the snow and ice we have here I am almost a shut in now until spring. I would love to get to the YMCA that is downtown but he only way I can get anywhere now is by cab and I cannot afford a $6.00 cab ride daily to the nearest bus stop, a 40 minute busride to the Y and then the same thing coming back home. On a personal note my oldest son got his custody case over with and we get to see my grandson once a month for a weekend..thank goodness. I had feared we would lose him totally. I saw my on-again off-again ex-bf over the holidays (loooong story) and spent a couple of days with him. Stupid mistake and one I won't be repeating but I think it was necessary to do that for me to realize he will never change and is simply toxic to my life. I've decided to cut him loose permanently. That is pretty much it for me. I think I will head downstairs to toss in a load of laundry and then make a nice hot cup of green tea to keep warm while continuing to read these boards. Best forum in the world!!! |
Hi Canadianwoman, I was wondering where you'd gotten to over the holidays. Seems as if you've got a few things sorted out in your life so everything's clear to start losing weight. I don't go to a gym and I'm also "barred" in the house because of cold weather. I have an exercise bike but I only use that 3x a week. I do my own workout with resistance bands and aerobic exercise which I do for 45 minutes 3x a week. Then I jog around the house 3x a week. (That btw does not give me a 9 day week, some overlap. :D)
WTG, Shannon. Two pounds is super. Think of 2 pounds butter or shortening. L144S, your job sounds very involved. I worked as a teacher for 31 years and I know there was never enough government funding and fundraising was the norm. My weigh in is tomorrow and I hope I have good success because I've been on plan for the most part all week. Must go. Have loads of stuff to do. Catch you later. |
Happy Weekend everyone! DH is getting a cold, so it's my turn to take care of him. I had a horrible migraine for 2 days, and he stayed home to take care of me. It was so sweet of him, so I do owe him. Though when men get sick...its the end of the world. I have been sticking to my plan, haven't cheated and wasn't tempted! GO me! It was TOM too....I am proud of myself. :p
Retire- Yeah I am going to soak my oats tonight and cook them tomorrow. I am excited about eating them. I can eat oatmeal anytime too. I used to hate it. But love them now. I am going to get into my routine of exercising again too. Thanks to the migraine I was unable to do much. Good luck at your weigh in!! L14ss- I think I am going to go ahead and invite all family members, that's how I would want it. It's a family affair, and I know a lot of my girlfriends have kids. We were at DH's cousin's wedding and she said no kids on the invite. Granted it was at a country club, but it was a bit different. The only kids were the flower girls and jr bridesmaid. They looked bored to tears, until we had dancing. Shannon- 2 lbs is great!!! Take what you can girly! It's better than a gain right? Retire said it, think 2 lbs of butter! Yuck! Canadian- Hey woman!! Welcome back!! I was gone too..lots of stuff took place. That's real nice that you get to see your grandson! Even if it is once a month. Re: exes it does take a stupid action to realize the right action. Good for you for getting him out of your life for good. Now with your new realization, jump back back on and get on track, and get to your goals! We are here for you!! Ok, I am writing this from work,I am here for a couple of hours...see where my priorities are? LOL! You guys come first! Well take care and have a wonderful weekend! |
Hi all! I've been sick with a cold, which is why I haven't posted in the last week or so. I also, haven't been eating well because of the cold. It's very frustrating! I want to eat everything in site when I have a cold (I guess my body is tell me to feed the cold???)
Tinky- How's married life? I notice you said your hubby stayed home to take care of you... did he get to keep his job or did he find another? It's been awhile I can't remember. I heard a story on NPR the other day about former WaMu employees holding a party/wake for the company and I thought about you. I hope you guys are okay! Canadian-That is too funny that your son said that! Isn't it funny when men/boys do that? They are all like that too! L144S- Oooh, your job sounds fun! I love organizing things like that. Shannon- 2lbs is great! Yay! I should probably tear myself away from the computer and accomplish something today. I'm having Saturday motivation problems. Lol. I think I'm going to try to take the dog for a walk later. Have a good weekend chicks! |
Hi Everyone- I've been a lurker on this site on and off for a year. Last February I started making myself a priority and lost 25 pounds, then I got off track. Now I've gained all that weight back and realized that I need to get back on track before the scale keeps climbing. So, I decided that I need to get involved and start posting instead of just reading- to keep myself accountable and really do this.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you- Michelle |
Hi everyone, I am Jo, 37, married and have two kids ages 13 and 10. I work full time in an orthodontic office so things can get really busy for me during the week, I have only really been posting on this forum on weekends, maybe once or so during the weekdays. I have read around the threads and such looking for a good fit for me. I have been dieting (since lst wk of dec) by writing down all that I eat each day and trying not to exceed 1500 calories per day. I did start a fitday.com thing where you type in your food and it counts your calories but I just don't have the time each day to transfer from my notebook. Ha!
So far I am doing ok with keeping the calories in the target range, I have yet to incorporate enough water and excersise ;) but am sure that it will all come together in time. Plus we are having a little "chinook" right now in central montana so I can get outside and walk this week, snow is expected on Friday again though. Kids are begging for a ski trip, will most likely take them the first week of February (husband does not ski so it is just me and the kids). We have some fun at it but the next day I really pay the price. My goal is to lose enough weight these next few months to be able to really water ski this summer. I have until mid June or so before the water is warm enough for that. Thinking positive in Montana |
Hey all....I hope your weekend is going well. I have been taking care of DH. His cold bug has been pretty bad. I've been keeping busy by cleaning our place and cooking. I am roasting a turkey right now. LOL.
Zenor- Thanks for asking, Dh's job is ok, he is going to get laid off around October. He was one of the lucky 800 out of 4000 people. Married life is treating us well...we are planning our reception part of wedding. We have to send out announcements because the secret got out to other family members. They think it's a rumor, but we want to share it now. LOL That's about it for my end. Oh I am starting school real soon, so it will be pretty busy. Michelle- :welcome2: you've come to the right place. I lost a bunch of weight, and it has crept back, so before it got too out of hand I decided to really push for it. We look forward to getting to know you. MJS- :welcome2: to you too! Looks like you're off to a great start. Keep focused, and you will be lookin hot while water skiiing this summer!Don't be a stranger around here. I hope you don't mind our chats, this a great group of women, very supportive and loving! Ok, well off to check my turkey. Take care everyone! |
Grrrrr...I gained a pound this week!!! Ok, not a great way to start a post but I was ticked off about this addition but I'm going to lose it this week for sure. And good news for me, I finally got that exercise bike. If you remember I had to take the other one back to the store because of missing parts but today I got another one with all parts and DH put it together and I've done 6k on it already. It's super quiet so I have it in the living room so I can hop on anytime I have a few minutes to spare. (Well anytime I'm not on 3FC!) The old bike was so noisy I'm sure the neighbors could hear it. :D
Welcome Michelle and MJS. This is the place to be. Tinky, no kissing when DH has a cold. You don't want to catch that. Zenor, hope you're feeling better. Catch you all tomorrow. Must go sleep. zzzzzzzzzz |
Heya everyone,
I'm new here but not new to calorie counting as I've used the daily plate on and off for quite awhile. I always think after a few months that I have learned portion control, etc, and try and 'do it on my own' only to gain weight back. So for now on I'm sticking ot TDP, most definately. My bf of 14 years (this march) is doing calorie counting too. I have about 100 lbs left to lose (190 is only my first goal) but he only has about 30 lbs to lose. He has lost 6 lbs in the last two weeks. I'm proud of him for sticking to the plate. Now that he can use it on his iphone he's much more likely to use it cuz anything that requires him to play with that silly thing keeps his attention! :D good luck everyone! I hope we all meet our goals this week. |
Welcome Lottie. Come on and post and keep us updated on your trials and victories.
It's snowing here and it's supposed to turn to ice pellets. Yuck! to all that nasty weather. I have to take a little trip to the church this morning with a few things for my friend's daughters reception that she's giving her this weekend. I'm walking so I hope I don't fall down in the white stuff. I only live 100 meters from the church so it's a very, very short walk but I've been known to do major damage on that short walk. Ha, ha. I had a good breakfast so I'm hoping all the good eating will follow through the day. Then I'll do my circuit workout and hop on the new bike for awhile. See you all later. |
