December Calorie Counters' Chat

Hi all. I was looking for the chat thread and couldn't find it and realized it was December. :D

I'm hanging in despite being in a state of confusion (in my mind) with all that's happening in the next few months. (Christmas, new grandbaby, DS#2's wedding) All good stuff but still a bit overwhelming at times.

Did I tell you guys that I've got 50 pounds gone, gone, gone. If I did tell you ignore it-I told you I'm in a state of confustion.

HI ...I dont know where this month is going!! It seems to be moving sooo fast!!
retire - i understand your feelings...we went and spent a few hours with our new granddaughter on friday and then off to my daughters new house and went to see the reception hall and chapel. We only have 12 weeks til the wedding. I feel overwhelmed but like you said its a good feeling as well!!
I am so wanting to hit my 100lb mark by the wedding...its going to take lots of exercise if i make it. I just wish it was warmer weather so i could be outside and exercise!!!Im bad about not exercising in the house like i should.
Great job on hitting 50lb mark!!!
heading out to a community christmas musical..have a great day everyone.
hugs

My, how quiet the forums are over the weekend and I don't expect them to be overly busy during the holiday season. I did a major Christmas shopping trip today but still have several gifts left to buy. Some are getting money in an envelop so that'll cut out the hassle of shopping.

I received an email from my son's cat today with his Christmas gift list. #1 on the cat's list was a new larger bed along with cat treats and his favorite wet cat food. This cat is going to feel sorely displaced when the baby is born.

I feel myself slipping back into old habits when I'm under pressure. It's getting ready for our church Christmas program that's the undoing of me. This week will be hectic with extra practices and decorating but I must keep my goal in sight and not stray too far off track. If I exercise early I'll be ok but if I leave it later on in the day I may be too busy or tired to do it. It will be all over next Saturday night and then I can concentrate on my own Christmas and family and weight loss. People who don't need to watch their weight have no idea how much concentration and attention it takes to lose weight. It's not as simple as just not eating as much and a bit of exercise. It's all consuming just to be able to do that consistently.

Anywhoo, I'm going to try and keep posting as much as I can on the different forums here at 3FC and hope for the best over the holidays.

dgramie, hang in there. It's all happiness so that's always good.

CassyCat 12-08-2008 12:48 AM

Today went okay for me. My mom isn't in the holiday mood this year with our basement caving in in september and costing them abouot $20,000 in repairs. Me and my sisters have been trying so hard to get her in the mood so we decided to take her shopping today in Birmingham to help get her spirits up. I think it worked pretty well.

We took her to Olive Garden to eat, and CAN YOU BELIEVE they dont offer full nutrition menus at their locations nor at their website. I was a little let down, but my mom being the hardy eater she is, suggested i eat what i want and just work my butt off when i got home.

I looked up as much information on the food i ate at the OG when i got home. Lo and behold, the meal i had was about 1100 calories.
Oh so sad. So now, I DO have to go work my butt off, about an hour on the treadmill i think. =(

Much love to everyone.

dgramie 12-08-2008 07:24 AM

retire_ stress even if its good is hard!!! The grandbaby part is wonderful!!
So much wedding stuff to be done and so much cant be done yet. I am so wanting to lose another size before i get a dress. All my friends are freaking because im not looking for a dress yet. Im hoping to get a hot price on after newyears sales.

cassycat- i love love love your avatar!!! Dont you hate when restraunts dont offer the food info. I usually take it as a bad sign. lol

has anyone tried tlc kashi bars?? I got a free one in the mail and the a coupon for a free box. I got the honey almond flax and its really good and filling..and only 140 calories. Hubby was trying to talk me into getting the peanut butter kind..he would have ate them as candybars. I got one i knew he would stay out of. Its a nice breakfast when im in a hurry.

have a great day everyone..

Shannonk1222 12-08-2008 10:33 AM

Hello everyone!!!!! I just found the thread! Happy December! So....I have been super bad! To the point, I am not WI. I will WI this Friday but I already know that there was some major damage done! I did, on a better note, go food shopping last night and planned out all of my meals so that I know my calorie intake everyday which will be at 1200. I am also hitting the treadmill every morning for a half hour on 3.5 incline. I want to start my bridal slimdown DVD BUT I have the sniffels and don't want to push it. Hope everyone is wonderful and so happy I found the tread!

retiredone 12-08-2008 03:22 PM

Why do I have to taste everything I make? I mean one little taste would be ok but I have about 3 or 4 cookies to make sure they are all the same...sigh...of course they'll all be the same-they're the same batch.

Have a good day everyone.

dgramie 12-09-2008 07:36 AM

I read the other day in the dr office that a random bite of food is an average of 25 calories..I bet it higher this time of the year!!!! I am trying so hard not to lick the spoon when i scrap a pan.LOL
gotta go and find something good and healthy for breakfast!
hugs to all and drink your water

jimaterry 12-09-2008 10:18 AM

hi everyone, hope youre all having a good day.. i dont know what got into me this am, but i decided to clean and rearrange my bedroom.. moving furniture around and all.. it took me a good two hours to do it, and i had built up quite a sweat. wonder how many cals i burned? food wise has been good today... breakfast was a glass of 1% milk (wasnt hungry), then about 2pm i had a tuna sandwich on wheat bread... tonight is chicken and brown rice;)... anyhow, just wanted to touch base. hope youre all meeting your goals for today:hug:

Shannonk1222 12-10-2008 10:05 AM

Hey everyone! Jimaterry: Wish I wasnt hungry this morning! hhahaha

I need your help! I am back to cooking chicken (boneless and skinless) for dinner. Only problem is sometimes it gets boring. So, what are different healthy ways you have your chicken? Sometimes I maranate it than bake it in the over over brown rice. Any suggestions?

retiredone 12-10-2008 12:01 PM

 Busy trying to get the Christmas cards done but here I am posting on 3FC. Also trying to get my vegetables and fruit in as I've been neglecting "good" food for the Christmas sweets and treats I've been baking. Got to stop that. Once the stuff is baked and put away I'm ok and even at Christmas when it's out again I'll be ok. It's when I'm making the stuff that I eat so much of it...sigh...

Anyhoo, have a good day everyone.

AngelMae 12-10-2008 02:34 PM

I have not baked yet this year, but my friend called me last night and invited me to a baking party! I am a bit nervous about all the goodies but I have a plan of attack. Lots of gum and Candy canes. They are low in calories (as long as I dont eat too many) and the peppermint will kind of be like brushing my teeth, I hope!!

Hope everyone has a great week and weekend! :)

Shannonk1222 12-12-2008 09:44 AM

I know it's December but come on everyone!!! Where is everyone at? Lets chatt!!!! :)

retiredone 12-12-2008 11:56 PM

Our church Christmas concert is tomorrow night so I should have more time to spend chatting once that's over. I can't wait to sing the last note.

Got the tree up today and put on the lights and a few decorations. I've got to find the star for the top sometime tomorrow and put on more decorations. But the living room is in quite a mess yet where I moved stuff around but a few hours should do the trick and it'll look nice and neat again.

My weigh in is tomorrow morning. Hope I lose a pound or two. Catch you all tomorrow.

slim n up 12-13-2008 02:32 PM

Hey everyone,

How is it going, I would love to do more chatting, but with Christmas coming I have so much to do. I am making 7 quilts as gifts, only 2 of which are finished, the other 5 are in different stages of completion. My kids are coming for Christmas the Sunday before, and my Mom's Christmas is that day also, so I really need to get going or I won't make it. After Christmas things should quiet down for a while. I don't even have 1 Christmas decoration up yet not even my tree. Hopefully tomorrow sometime I will get my tree up. Have a great OP week everyone.

Wilma

Blinky963 12-14-2008 02:13 AM

We put the tree up Thursday, It's so pretty!! I'm working almost non stop 'til Christmas. Tis the season, gotta love corporate retail.

retiredone 12-14-2008 09:50 PM

Merry Christmas! I can say that now because my church Christmas concert is over and I lived through it and all the practice. Lost 2.5 pounds this week. That surely makes up for not losing anything last week. I'm now officially out of the 140s and feel great about that.

Take care and I'll catch you all later.

Shannonk1222 12-15-2008 09:42 AM

woo hoo! Hello everyone! I have survived my first week back on track and it feels great. Losing those two pounds again makes it so much easier!!! That's great about everyones trees being up! I do mine the day after Thanksgiving and it my new tradition with my fiance.

Great job getting out of the 140s retiredone~! I wanted to be in the 140's by New Years but because of my slip up that isnt going to happen. I am not even back in the 150s yet but that I can reach by New Years!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

dgramie 12-16-2008 08:30 PM

I have been MIA the past few days. My brother had WLS last monday and on friday they had to go back in. He had a really rough weekend and we almost lost him. He isnt out of the woods yet.He is septic. I spent the weekend with him in a town 4 hours away. It was rough and eating was ok most of the time but today has been horrible. Its like it all caught up with me today and i crashed.
so right back on track in the morning..I have to get this weight off...I dont want to end up in the shape he is in. It was so hard seeing someone you love in such bad shape.

retiredone 12-19-2008 05:55 PM

dgramie, how is your brother doing?

We're all MIA. It's the holiday season. Everyone is so busy. I'm ready to run away from home or crawl into a cave and hibernate until it's all over. Ha, ha, not really but I've had a few long, hectic days. I can't believe I did all this and worked too just a couple of years ago.

I'd just like to say it's hard at Christmas so I'm going to eat a little of the "good" stuff and try and eat lots of the "really good" stuff. I finally got a really good dinner into my body today and I feel so much better than I have in a few days. This hit and miss eating and eating on the run is for the birds. (Poor birds.) Things are getting less hectic so I can see the next week or two calmer and steadier than the last two that passed for me.

One funny thing keeps happening to me over and over the last few weeks. I've been out shopping, doing Christmas concerts and the like and meeting people I haven't seen in ages with so many people on the go. So many people keep coming up to me saying that they didn't recognize me when they first saw me. And it's true. I'll see someone I know and I'll say hi and ask them how they've been (like you would) and I see this blank stare and then the light goes on and they know who I am. Then they say, "You've lost quite a bit of weight, haven't you?" It's the same conversation over and over. Ha, ha.

I bought a lovely new suit for the summer. It's a size 10 and almost fits but it'll take a few more pounds before it fits perfectly. Of course, I got a huge discount on it at this time of the year. The jacket was $80 and the skirt $60. I got them for $25 and $12. It's a white 3/4 sleeve jacket and matching skirt. It's made from eyelit lace material and is so summery. Can't wait for winter to be over so I can wear it. (I know it isn't even officially winter but you'll not convince me of that weather wise.) So until that magical day when I decide summer has arrived it will sit in my closet with all my new skinny clothing waiting to be worn. That reminds me, I must try on a dress that was a bit tight last month to see if it fits better this month.

Catch you all later when you have time to post.

dgramie 12-20-2008 07:16 PM

My brother is doing better..he is off the vent and breathing on his own. His kidneys are still not working. He is waking up some and was able to tell his wife he loves her today. If he continues to improve they will transfer him to a local hospital an hour away. I cant wait to see him again. I think I just got the best christmas present ever!!! I was so scared I was going to lose him!!!

I had a loss of 1.6 for the past 2 week period. I am not really happy but i know that its hard to lose when your stressed and i have done GREAT this week being back OP.
I get to babysit my granddaughter tommorow for the very first time. I can hardly wait!!! I am off work till the monday after Christmas and just work that one day that week. I am planning on getting alot of things done for the wedding. Its only 8 weeks away.I am also going to walk outside everyday its in the 30s or warmer. I miss being outside so bad!!!! I signed up for the 5K on new years day. It just now winter here and im already starting to think about what i want to plant in my garden. I will be starting seeds in feb this year. I cant wait!!

retiredone 12-20-2008 10:32 PM

dgramie, such good news about your brother. Hope he'll soon be in a hospital closer to home and then home for good.

1.6 pounds is great with all the stress you've had and the time of the year with so much food on the go. I lost 1.5 pounds this week but I think I ate it all back today, ha, ha. A bit too much cake and then I started eating crackers and cheeze whiz. I never eat cheeze whiz like that. Usually only a couple of times a month on a piece of toast but tonight I was craving something salty after the cake so I chowed down on the crackers and cheeze whiz. Better than potato chips because I'd have eaten the whole bag tonight.

dgramie 12-25-2008 08:07 AM

Merry Christmas!! thanks so much for your friendship and support this year!!

bargoo 12-25-2008 09:55 AM

Shannonk1222 12-29-2008 10:06 AM

Hey everyone! Talk about gaining some weight! Holy Moly! I get married March 14th and would love to be 130 something but with being up to 168.8 again!!!! I dont see that happening.
On a positive note, these are the things I am doing again. Treadmill every morning, 7 days a week. A work out video at night at least 3 nights a week. Atempting to stay under 1200 calories a day and watching my bread/sugar intake. I am so ready to do this, and now I have to stop talking and just do it!

Hope everyones holidays were wonderful and no one gained as much as I did.

dgramie 12-29-2008 10:29 AM

I have wonderful news!! My brother is getting out of the hospital today! He is still having kidney problems but they will do daily dialysis for awhile longer. I guess its just a wait and see thing.Otherwise he is doing good. He is able to walk a bit with the help of a walker and will be doing therapy at home. He has lost about 40lbs so far.
I gained 5lbs over the holiday but am happy to say 1 of it is already gone. I am back to exercising daily. I am also back to eating whole healthy foods. Back to the basics..veggies and baked or grilled meats. It feels good to be back on track.
I have 8 weeks till my daughters wedding. I so want to look good!!

bargoo 12-29-2008 10:31 AM

It looks like you will need to lose about 3 pounds a week to meet your goal. That might be a little ambitious, A pound and a half or 2 pounds a week is about normal to lose. I suggest you just do the best you can you will lose and be a beautiful bride even if you don't quite make it to goal.

dgramie 12-29-2008 12:00 PM

Im hoping to get back to losing a 1-2 lbs per week every week. I havent enjoyed the yo-yo this month.
Im already thinking about lunch..breakfast should have stayed with me better! I may have to have a mid morning snack to hold me over.

Shannonk1222 12-29-2008 01:16 PM

dgramie-thats wonderful news about your brother.
Thanks for the advise Bargoo. I know I can do this. I am going to work extra hard!

I am sure you will do it. Have you picked out your wedding dress ?

Shannonk1222 12-29-2008 03:29 PM

Yes, I have picked my dress. I was going to start doing alterations at the end of December but I am going to push them back 3 weeks or so! Soooo excited!!

Rain Dancer 12-29-2008 07:11 PM

Hi everyone. It has been a while and I have missed you. :D Life is finally settling down enough for me to get back online a bit. And I am finally getting my lazy arse back on track. I have no doubt I did a little damage over the last month. But it shouldn't be anything I can't correct in pretty short order. I can't weigh, right now because I still can't find my stupid scale and a new one just isn't in the budget. I need to get down to the garage and find it. It is probably just in the top of a box, under something.

I need to spend some time getting caught up and see how everyone is doing. Well, I hope. :D

Must run. I have to unload my dishwasher (gosh, I love my new place!) and get some things put away. And, I think I'll head out to the garage and see if I can't locate my scale. Never send a man to do a woman's job... :p

Shannonk1222 12-30-2008 12:27 PM

Hey everyone! Its so cold today in Philadelphia! I have good news! I must have lost some water weight because when I got on the scale this morning it was down to 164.8 which is a lot nicer than the 168 I saw a couple days ago! I did the Wii Fit Yoga last night and actually got my first good night of sleep! It felt so good!
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Raindancer-I hope you find your scale and congrats on the New Place!!
