chocolate snacks

Does anyone have any good chocolate snack ideas around 100 calories that aren't just empty calories?
The chocolate cravings kill me this time of year.... I was eating kashi cookies but they are so expensive.

urockmom 11-05-2008 05:02 PM

Two ideas:

1) LF/SF choc pudding. The kind you make at home with skim milk is only 70 cals for 1/2 cup.
2) NF White chocolate & raspberry yogurt and then I throw in about 6 milk choc chips (can't go crazy with the chips!)

I am hoping that others have more ideas because I LOVE chocolate!! :D

Well, when I need chocolate, I turn to Balance Bars. While they have 210 calories, they have 15 grams of protein, and sometimes, I cut one in half and eat the half with a half an apple for 155 calories as a mid-morning snack. Personally I think the Caramel Blast ones and the Chewy Chocolate Chip are the best. They alway make me feel like I'm cheating on my diet because they are sooo good.

Light chocolate soy milk 120 calories, good for you and oh so yummy! And filling too!

angelanicole23 11-05-2008 08:07 PM

Curves has these amazing granola bars out..peanut chocolate chip..only 100 calories and 4 grams of fibre! Only one pt in ww..whoo hoo!

cathyw 11-05-2008 11:30 PM

Try the Vita Top Muffins!!! I love the double choc. and the choc./peanut butter ones. The muffins are only 100 cal, has a lot of fiber, and natural ingredients.
Vitalicious.com is their website

I also like to buy the soy ice cream carob/choc. mint 1/2 cup is only 115 cal and 1.5 g fat. Tonight I had 1/2 cup of that with a Choc. vita top muffin :D

Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk (with a packet of Stevia or Splenda) is very creamy, and yummy!!! 8 oz has only 45 calories!!!

That's all I can think of right now, but I know exactly what you mean, I could live off chocolate!! ;)

My favorite thing to eat when I'm not watching my calorie in take is
Extreme Moose Tracks Ice Cream, the thick fudge that is in there is so sinful!!
My husband eats that and he always says with a spoon stuck in my face, "I saved you a bite of fudge" :dizzy:

O.k. I better stop talking about choc. it's making me crave it!!
Night!!
Cathy

I forgot another thing.

Have you ever tried PB2
Check out their website to see what this yummy product is. Now they have a chocolate version.

It's more than 100 calories, but I mix unsweetened dark cocoa into a bowl of oatmeal. I add unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and splenda to taste, and it's an intensely chocolately treat that's guilt-free. Sometimes I add coconut or peppermint extract too, yum!

ronni62 11-06-2008 08:38 AM

I go for the straight chocolate fix-Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares (60% cacao). Each square is only 55 cals and they really cure the craving!:D

wantingtolose 11-06-2008 09:01 AM

I keep dove dark chocolates around for my chocolate fix. I also like bars. Some brands are lower calories than others, i usually just buy what is on sale. I like pudding and chocolate milk or hot chocolate too.

Thighs Be Gone 11-06-2008 09:02 AM

I eat a square or two of dark chocolate (high quality) with 65% cocoa in it when I crave. Some people actually swear by it to help flatten the stomach. Just make sure you are taking your calories out of daily allotment though. Also, I like the Quaker chocolate drizzle rice cakes.

Extasee58865 11-06-2008 11:53 AM

I get chocolate cravings too and have started to eat those Duncin Hynes Mini Delights. they are 150 calories & totally fill my chocolate craving so I don't go ravenous on my 3 yr olds halloween candy! They are really good & super easy to make, kind of expensive @ $2.50 for 2 cakes.

MonteCristo 11-06-2008 12:03 PM

I also go for the small squares of dark chocolate. My preference is the Dove dark chocolate Promise squares. Just 42 calories each, and they are really good.

I buy outrageously expensive dark chocolate and eat a very small quantity when I'm craving chocolate. I figure if it's really expensive I'll eat it very slowly to make it last. I like valrhona dark chocolate with hazelnuts that I get at a specialty store where they sell gourmet stuff. My husband likes to order on the web from chocosphere. They have every gourmet chocolate imaginable. Their website is like chocolate porn. They even have this italian sugar free gourmet chocolate which is really fantastic. I sent some to my (diabetic) stepmother last year for her birthday and she raved about it for months. Super expensive, though, really just a once a year splurge to keep hidden in the cupboard and eat occasionally. A little piece makes me feel like I'm really splurging and being very decadent.

On the other hand, when I'm being bad hershey's kisses, snicker's or M&M's will do just fine, too. :)

CountingDown 11-09-2008 04:01 PM

My new favorite snack
Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds - actually healthier than regular almonds AND with a light cocoa roasting - for a hint of chocolate flavor :D
Love these things!

cfmama 11-09-2008 07:36 PM

I love Quaker chocolate chip rice cakes. Yum!

jenguin 11-09-2008 10:47 PM

No pudge brownies. I love how you can easily make single servings with the mix. They are 120 calories each.

Arlene Dallas 11-09-2008 10:52 PM

sugar free fudgesicles...and the stallone chocolate puddings-100 cal and 20 g of protein per serving

chick_in_the_hat 11-10-2008 12:39 AM

Chocolate mini merengue cookies. I get them at Trader Joes (but I've seen them at regular grocery stores, too...sometimes). 13 of them is 110 calories and they are pretty much sugar with a couple grams of protein...they are usually in the bakery section in a clear plastic tub.

hmtklein 11-10-2008 11:40 AM

Wow you guys have some good ideas! Thank you!

Blinky963 11-10-2008 12:03 PM

I also buy the pricey dark chocolate and eat small pieces to make it last. But when I want chocolate in volume ( as I sometimes do) I go for the Hershey dark 100 calorie bar or the Quaker simple harvest chocolate chunk granola bar. It's 150 calories, but filling and good.

MindiV 11-10-2008 12:29 PM

I go for sugar free Handi Snacks chocolate pudding cups...45 calories each! And if I want another flavor, they've also got vanilla and caramel....

MindiV 11-10-2008 12:30 PM

Oh, and along the lines of what cfmama said...the chocolate peanut butter rice cakes are good...and they've got these chocolate crunch ones that are FABULOUS with 60 calories...

Annie Pele 11-10-2008 06:20 PM

I second the cocoa roasted almonds, CountingDown. They are so good, and you get all the good nutrition of nuts. Yummy!

LessEveryDay 11-13-2008 09:05 PM

Nutella is really chocolatey, but, at 95 calories per tablespoon, you're just going to be able to lick it off the spoon.

Lyn2007 11-16-2008 01:49 PM

Right now I am having a nice hot mug of chocolate hazelnut decaf tea... 0 calories (plain) but I add a bit of agave nectar and a splash of milk so it is about 30 calories but sooo good! I think it is "Stash" brand but if you look around the tea section in the grocery store it is in a brown box.

Angel's_Dust 11-16-2008 03:05 PM

When I get a craving I usually go for Nutella. It's 100 cals per tablespoon and that's all I need, otherwise I find it too strong. The hazelnut taste is a bonus. It makes me feel like I'm eating a square or two of hazelnut chocolate. If I want something to fill me up for a small while, I eat part of a SoyOne bar: Chocolate Truffle. They are really yummy and 220 cals per bar. Those bars are protein and fill me up for around 2.5-3 hours. Good luck!

calimodel1 11-19-2008 11:43 AM

ok this isnt really nutritious but it does fix my chocolate fix. Its the new 100 calorie chocolate swiss rolls. I also like the quaker chocolate mint rice cake. I know some of the 100 calorie packs now have chocolate trail mix varieties.

Beverlyjoy 11-19-2008 12:08 PM

DH loves chocolate milk - so we always have Hershey's syrup around. Sometimes I take 1/2 T hershey syrup and mix it with 1/2 T natural peanut or almond butter. I like to dip the handle end of a spoon in the concoction to make it last longer. Yum.

tammay 11-21-2008 08:43 PM

Just happened to jump in here - I'll second the notion of dark chocolate :D. I like either Lindt 70% Dark Chocolate or Ghiradelli semi-sweet dark chocolate chips. Three squares of the Lindt (individually wrapped squares) and 3 tbsp of chocolate chips are about 100 calories. For some reason, I can eat that fixed amount of dark chocolate and be satisfied (now milk chocolate, on the other hand... ;) )
