Question Marinades?

Do you guys count calories for marinades you soak your meat in? If so, how? We're really only eating just a portion of the marinade, but I'm never sure how much.

Hmm. I would definitely count them (I don't marinate my meats, I spice them). Although it may be difficult to figure out how much you're eating, perhaps measuring the amount of marinade which doesn't stay on the meat could help you determine it.

If they have any oil or sugar in them, I would either count them in full, or very generously estimate the portion actually consumed.

I usually count 1T of marinade for each piece of meat. I figure that's close to what I'm getting.

Weigh it, then weigh it after it's been marinated and figure out how much more it weighs.

If you really want to be anal about it... figure out the calories in the marinade, measure it before marinading and after, then calculate what was used. Otherwise just count a small portion of it. Say, 1T like Photochick suggested.

1T is probably fair. I dont want to worry about it too much or get too anal with the weighing and measuring, a good guestimate is fine with me.
I make maranades from scratch instead of the bottled stuff... it's going to make for some complicated math!
Thanks!
