I have a favorite frozen dinner!
I have a favorite frozen food! I am so excited about it that i have to share.
My favorite food in the world is Pad Thai. When I lived in Chicago, I had it delivered twice a week (1/2 an order is approx. 500 calories - although I typically scarfed the whole order). Ever since we moved to Colorado, I have been on the lookout for yummy Pad Thai. No luck. Every place I try is horrible. Blecchhhh!!!! Last night I tried Smart Ones Thai Style Chicken & Rice Noodles. It was really good, and not just because I was starving. I added shredded cabbage, fresh cilantro, fresh lime juice and a tablespoon of Chili Garlic Sauce. So at approx. 300 calories, I can have my favorite food again. Yum!!!:carrot: |
Sounds good! You can also make a really yummy version of this yourself with the shiritake noodles... yum!!!!
|
I know EXACTLY which one you're talking about and I love it too! I used to eat it ALL THE TIME, but then I got a bit sick of it. Now, my new thing is the Lean Cuisine paninis. They are very good, although I'm sure that they're not that healthy! Oh well! ;)
|
I never could find shiritake noodles where I live. I keep thinking I should order it on-line....
|
another reason to wish my local grocer carried smartones. It was a stretch to get the manager to order lean cuisines...
|
I was really surprised at how good the Smart Ones are. I've been a die hard Lean Cuisine person for so long, but no more! I had to change things up a bit as my doctor put me on this no grains, no pasta diet. Smart Ones have a lot of varieties that fit the bill.

Ohhhh thanks for the suggestion! I LOVE pad thai, but have a hard time finding a good one as well. I'll definately be trying this as soon as I can find it.

I looked everywhere - Trader Joes, etc. -- only place I've found them locally is at Asian grocer. Worth it! |
Bah! I just sent my friend to Trader Joes to look for me. She lives outside Chicago and I live in a University town, so I have her make regular runs there for me. I've searched my asian grocery store with no luck. They're in the noodles section, yes? I guess there are a few more asian grocery stores I can hit, just now thought of that.
|
Some Trader Joe's carry them but not all. They are actually in the refrigerated section (in bags with liquid). Make sure you rinse well... I also boil mine for just a couple minutes (I want to completely eliminate the smell!). I had them this week with Asian Peanut Sauce (Nelie's recipe from 3FC)
