Low Calorie Recipe Books

So I have found this book online I was thinking about ordering... it's called The Hungry Girl. I looked online at it and it has a bunch of Low Calorie Meals for Hungry Girls hint the title lol. I looks like they have some pretty good recipes in them. Does anyone else have the book and think it's worth it to get?

I need to hear some reviews from other people who have the book?:carrot:

Have you ever gone to the Hungry Girl site? You find a lot of the recipes there. And I've seen the book at a few local stores too, like Target and some of the book stores, if you want to take a look at it first. I haven't gotten it yet. I put in a request at my local library but it hasn't come in yet. I'm like you, I don't want to buy untill I check it out.

My opinion:

"Hungry Girl" specializes in low calorie junk food. ;)

I get the Hungry Girl emails, and they are all about creating low calorie dips, lower calorie replacements for Dairy Queen Blizzards and Taco Bell burritos...and the latest snack bars, etc. on the market.

I would go to her website and maybe get the occasional recipe there...but if you actually want a COOKBOOK, I would maybe go for a Weight Watchers one, or other lower calorie/lower fat cookbook. Something where there are actually healthy main dishes, side dishes and such along with the desserts.

:)

i LOVE hungry-girl. I ordered one of the cookbooks used from barnesandnoble.com and it was only 12 bucks i think. Aphil is right it is pretty much low cal 'junk' but there are some great meals. Also its great for when you want to bring a dish to a party. You get to bring something tastey that everyone would never guess is healthy. i would check out www.hungry-girl.com before you decide though. i personally like it.

I have the Better Homes and Gardens New Dieter's Cookbook. I love it, and use it a LOT. The recipes are simple and don't have hard to find ingredients. There's also a picture of each dish so you know what it's supposed to look like.
