it must've just happened. By coincidence, I just bought Fitday PC online at the end of last week, so I wasn't using the free one. There are things I liked about the online version, but now it looks like fitday PC! I'm not a big fan of change (other than my weight or size! ;) )

MalibuBeachBound 08-10-2008 07:02 PM

It changed bt yesterday and today. I was kind of disappointed. I can't scroll to find foods that I had entered anymore. I have to click next and wait :( I also don't like change :P

I really love the new format and features, save for the fact that you have to go through page after page after page of custom foods. Other than that, it's a lot easier/quicker now. *shrugs*

I looked at fitday when I first started trying to manage my weight. I like thedailyplate more personally.

mandalinn82 08-11-2008 01:32 PM

I -love- the new FitDay, particularly the "View my Recent Foods" function. Because of the way I structure my meals, my lunch one day is exactly the same as the dinner I had the night before. Because of the new function, I can go, click the checkboxes for all the components of my meal the night before, and add them at once. You could do that before, I guess, but the great thing about the change is that they are added in the SAME QUANTITIES. So I get my exact meal MUCH faster than before.

I don't like the Custom Food scrolling, but I'll adjust because of the new "Recent Foods" stuff. And they've added measurement and mood tracking, too, which are seriously good enhancements.

I noticed that their food database has been updated a bit, but not enough for it to rival the Daily Plate and other calorie counting sites. I think they should focus more on the database than on anything else... but I do like the new change. It will take some getting used to, however.

JudyChat 08-12-2008 09:52 AM

I like all of the new changes, but I can't figure out how to use the "mood tracking" system. It won't let me enter a mood anywhere.

Have any of you tried that feature and/or gotten it to work yet?

I think they fixed the Custom Food scrolling. And I also *love* that it remembers your quantities now. And I've been finding foods that weren't in the database before.

I think this is a lot easier to use than the old version. If you are looking for a food that you haven't eaten for several weeks, it is easy to find rather than trying to re-create it. I think they did a good job--I had all but stopped using it because it was so cumbersome. This is better.

chick_in_the_hat 08-12-2008 09:14 PM

And where else can you find the calorie counts for activities like "cooking Indian bread on an outside stove" or "caulking, chinking log cabin"? :lol3:

I like the new look - now that they fixed the custom foods list so I don't have to page and age and page. That was NOT pretty.

Taurie 08-12-2008 11:40 PM

OOOHHHH! I just had a glance at it. I really like it. All my custom foods are on it. I haven't logged in since Aug 1st since I'm in LA, but I love it! it seems to offer more and it stored all the past weights I had over the last few years.

srmb60 08-19-2008 12:37 PM

I haven't been counting calories lately, just tracking my weight at fitday and was I surprised this morning!
I like it I think. I always appreciated the recent foods thing and saving custom foods. The measurement thing is wonderful. And I like the weight log much better.

CoolMom75 08-19-2008 01:14 PM

I've been on Fitday for so long I couldn't believe they just now updated it. I love it! lots of cool new features. The only thing I don't like is when I add a new custom food it won't let me specify beyond "1 seving" like Tbs or cup. I don't need the fancy mood crap. LOL!

You're right, that is annoying. However, you can work around it - instead of creating a new food, modify an existing one that has similar serving types to what you want.

CoolMom75 08-19-2008 02:40 PM

oh yeah, I just add the serving size in the title like xyz (1/8 of recipe) or xyz (1cup) etc. Then I can scale down or up from there when I choose it later.

Hi all,

I hope it's okay to keep adding to this thread. I LOVE Fitday. Between it and 3FC... I truly believe my life is changed forever! *grin*

I do have a question though. I don't know if it's just my pc or all of FitDay. Is anyone else having problems with apostrophes? Everytime I use an apostrophe and enter something Fitday changes the apostrophe to a series of strange letters and symbols. (')

Is it just me?

chick_in_the_hat 08-19-2008 11:27 PM

yep. it seems to be part of the "upgrade" ;)

sumu1 08-20-2008 08:39 AM

I noticed about the apostrophes. I have to remember when I journal to just write it out. I do love the new format. I like the moods too. It will be interesting to see how my calories relate to how I felt that day ( or week). Love it...and I like that you can customize your BMR if you choose. So if you think that it is telling you the calories you burn is too high it'll let you manually adjust it. Very nice. I've actually started to use it again.

Jennifer 3FC 08-20-2008 09:45 PM

For those of you that use The Daily Plate, you need to be careful about checking your nutrition info because some of it is grossly inaccurate. Two identical items might have totally different figures. I loved it until I started running in to strange amounts, and realized that these user added foods weren't/couldn't be checked for accuracy at all times. Even though it takes me longer to add in my custom food at Fitday, I like knowing that I double checked the info myself.
