pizza calories
I am so bad at estimating calories in foods I don't cook myself. Especially when they combine several different ingredients. Any good estimates on a slice of cheese pizza? I had planned on the pizza today, so I'm not eating off plan I'd just like a good solid number to assing it. I'm thinking...400ish, it wasn't a super oily crust (like fast food pizza) though, rather dry and the cheese seemed like a reasonable amount. It also had pineapple and jalepeno on it (we call it a feisty hawiian)...but those seem like minimal amounts of calories to add up. So...any guesses?

How big was the slice? The Costco-sized pizza slices are about a 6th of the gigantic 18" diameter pizza, and roughly 800 calories.
A slice of Sbarro cheese pizza, which is more reasonable, is about 460 calories...it's still a pretty big slice. FitDay defines a "piece" as 1/8 of a 12 inch diameter pizza, and for a thin crust, that'll put you at 160 calories or so. |
it was probably about 16" pizza...I'd go and measure it but...that might lead to a binge situation so I'll just go with around 400...it was made by a ma and pop kind of place and they make their dough themselves so I think its probably not as bad as say, pizza hut...lol!

I hate the pizza guesstimate thing too.
Name brands like Dominos (ick) will list calories, but the local pub won't. I just try to go by the general shape and size, kind of along the lines of what Manda said. I've got to say though Manda, I knew Costco pizza was bad but I wouldn't have guessed 800 calories bad. I must have had a good metabolism when I was younger because I used to eat that stuff all the time. With a mocha of course. |
