I'm back! Advice please!

Hello everyone,
I've been a bit inactive on here for some time due to exams and my laptop being broken but i'm home now and as of today i am back on the wagon! Before when I was on 1400 cals a day i was still a little hungry at times but my weight loss was good ranging from 1.5-3lb a week most weeks with the occasional hiccup. So i was wondering if going up to 1600 cals a day would be a good idea as i am also going to step up my exercise by doing regular 3k jogs and going to the gym 3 times a week hopefully. So do you think 1600 is a fair amount or no quite enough? Thanks for your help! :p Oh, i almost forgot, in the couple of months i've been away i've only put on 4lb which i am very pleased about!

Good to see you back! And great going for only putting on a few lbs. You'll have those lbs off in no time at all.

I think 1600 calories would be a good place to start. You can see how you feel on that and if need be, you could raise it up a tad. You'll also see how the weight loss is going. And make adjustments as needed.

But make sure that you get the utter most from your calories. Make it foods that will satisfy you and NOT leave you hungry. Low fat proteins. Lots and lots of fiber filled veggies and fruits. The pastas, floury, sugary stuff, ALWAYS leaving me wanting for more and hungry after a short while. So I avoid those.

Also do your best to spread your calories throughout the day. Never letting yourself get a chance to be hungry. Eat often. Every 2 - 2 1/2 hours or so.

Good luck to you. And WELCOME BACK!! :)

Congrats on getting through exams and only gaining 4 pounds!

I agree with Robin that 1600 sounds perfectly fine if not a little more.

Welcome back!

Yes - that sounds like a good plan. 1400 was a bit low but I started at the number as well. I found the longer I was at this and the more intense my exercise, I needed to add calories as well.

Best of luck and glad to see you back.

Lori
