fell off the wagon
I have lost 20 pounds since january. but I thought i would try a little harder, to lose faster. so i really cut down on the calories, yesterday. i got all of a sudden sick to my stomach. I was told I better eat. so eat I did! I totally lost control last night and ate all the junk I could find. now this morning I am suffering. ughh, I promise I won't do that again. also I was getting lightheaded alot.any advise on how to NOT binge eat? this is the most horrible feeling. anyone else get nausea when they don;t eat enough?

Slow and steady wins the race. You can't rush the process. Pick yourself back up, dust off, and get back on track.
Best way to NOT binge eat is to not put the food in your mouth. It won't be a problem if you're not hungry all the time. Eat more, exercise more, and let the science behind it all work for you. |
I'm sorry you feel crappy!
I think you sort of answered your own question. It sounds like you tried to really restrict your calories and that led to a binge! It's hard not to binge sometimes, but very difficult when you're starving! Eat regularly, eat healthy foods (lots of veggies and protein and whole grains) and over time you will probably be less likely to binge. good luck! |
Wow you sound just like me. I have ONLY lost 20 pounds since January. Some people say that is good because it is slow and steady which means that it won't come back and if it does it will not come back fast. I like that thought, but I also don't want to take a year or two to lose 50 pounds.
I too fell of the wagon for 3 weeks. UGH! I recently got my self back up. I revaluated my goals. I wrote them down, which I have never done. I posted them up in the bathroom to help with the thought process throughout the day. I also wrote reason I want to lose weight, i.e. when my best friend comes to town I want a wow response. I think these will help me step it up. In regards to food. You have to eat when you are hungry. Other wise your body will go into starvation mode which will lead to a binge. I find eating 5 times a day and have a protein, a good fat, and a good carb every time I eat, keeps me satisfied longer. Also, the more I eat healthly the more my cravings go away. I hope this helps and good luck!! |
It has taken me 11 months to lose 30 lbs!!! It has been very very very slow, but you know what, i'm okay with that. I gained it all fairly quickly and i needed the time to practice my good habits and get used to make them part of my routine. So i think in the end i will be just fine and I should be able to keep the weight OFF this time!!

I also agree with Heather, make sure you're eating veggies, lean protein, and whole grains. I know it can be frustrating when the weight comes off slowly, but it is coming off! Congratulations on losing 20lbs! |
Malibubeachbound -- Thanks!
I lost the first 100 pounds in just over a year (55 weeks) and then another 15-20 over 5-6 months. It was a steady loss that gradually slowed as I got smaller. I never overly restricted calories. In fact, I started calorie counting at 280-something pounds and ate 2000/day initially, slowly dropping the calorie level. I never dropped below 1800 on average, which I'd probably have to do if I wanted to lose steadily at my current weight... |
Something I find works to stop a binge if I feel it coming is to run up and brush my teeth and then mouthwash. It might just be the time that it takes, but I find once finished that bag of chips or such is no longer tempting. Also, if you have a full glass of water before eating what you want, sometimes it helps to curb the craving. My final thought is if you just *have* to have something, cut or divide or such an acceptable portion and then do away with the rest. Whether it is destroying it (I like to run over cookies with my car or poor coffee on chips lol) or storing it in a high cupboard or back of a freezer/fridge-out of sight, out of mind.
