calorie counting

is really working great for me!! In 22 weeks I have lost 52lbs. When people ask how I am losing weight and I tell them I am counting calories they seem to lose interest really quick. I have even had a few roll their eyes..its like they want a quick fix...some diet secret...
Also has anyone tried the newton fruit crisp bars?? I love them and they are only 100 calories for 2 bars. I am not into 100 calorie packs but these are really nice for a treat or when your having a weak moment and needing something crunchy.

Wow! Great job -- congratulations!!!

Yeah, good old reliable calorie counting is hard work and has no glamor, so not much appeal for folks searching for the magic bullet. But it's the only thing that works well for me.

Haven't tried those bars, but I'll check them out if I see them in the store.

Congrats on your success!

The other thing I find interesting is that people comment that calorie counting is too much work. But yet they will try one silly plan after another with no success. I will take the extra work any day since the return is so great.

Congratulations on your impressive success!

I've just finished my first 30 days of calorie counting and I think it is fascinating. I still have alot to learn about nutrition, calories in specific foods, and restaurant navigation..but it is all rather fun. :)

Keep up the good work. :carrot:

What do you find to be the best way to keep track of the calories throughout the day? Do you write it down? Also, do you estimate if you're not sure how many calories there are?

Congrats on your weight loss!

I count calories also..I find people often react with scorn when I tell them about it ("that's too much bother!") but it really works for me. Guess those folks are hoping for a quick and easy solution.

I keep track of the calories in my head. I use to write them down, keep them on the computer, etc. but that was work for me. Instead, keeping them in my head doesn't make me feel like I am watching the calories... :) except I am always reaching for a calculator to recalculate my calories. Also, writing them down makes me accountable if I slip one day... if that happens... I don't want to look back.

I am a calorie counter , I write my calories down , some prefer posting on the internet. I don't find it as nearly as much trouble as weighing over 200 pounds.

Congratulations on your 52 lb loss!

I count calories too. It's the best way I know of to eat a well balanced diet that includes all of the food groups and to practice portion control as well.
