How many pounds?
So how many pounds did you lose before going down a clothes size? I'm down 9.5-10 pounds and I'm still wearing the same size, just wondering :D
|
I asked this question earlier and got pretty much this response, which is:
Different for everyone, you can't spot-lose weight, etc. When I went from 220 to 200, I went from comfortably fitting an 18 to comfortably fitting a 14. My experience has been 5 pounds between sizes, and the show "The Last 10 Pounds Bootcamp" sets goals of losing 10 pounds and 2 dress sizes (meaning a 10 to an 8 or something). But I think it depends a lot on your height and whether you're toning as well as losing. ETA In some instances, it also has to do with how comfortably we're fitting the clothes we're in. Right now, because I've bloated back up, a size 14 doesn't fit as well as it did before. But I still say I'm a size 14. It'll take another 5 or so pounds to make that comfortable, but it doesn't mean I'm suddenly in a 13. |
From 154lbs to 138 I dropped 2 sizes. From a lose size 10 to a well fitted size 6.

Thank you so much! I was/am a size 16 but they are A LOT more comfortable now then they were before, plus no more "muffin top" lol

For me, between 10-15 lbs. Of course, some of my um 'fat' clothes are swimming on me but because I really like them (one pair of shorts in particular) I still wear them, I just belt them. Soon I think that may not even work. A good thing for sure -- but hard to give up a fav clothing item at the same time! Plus, knowing how tight they had been it's a kick to see how big they are now. I can even get them up and down w/out undoig the button or zipper. :D

That's such a tough question! :) I wish there were some mathetmatical formula that would say, lose 10 lbs and drop a size. Unfortunately there's not!
Also for me, I was in denial that I was losing weight until a friend practically pantsed me in the middle of a room, showing me how loose they were! :) I started at 237 wearing a 22/24. I kept wearing those right into a size 16 (when the aforementioned friend told me that I looked like I was wearing clothes big enough for 2 of me), which happened about 190-ish? After that I dropped very quickly to a 14 and then a 12. Right now I wear a 12 in most things and a 14 in a small handful ... at 167. Some of my 12s are starting to get a little loose, but the 10s are still waaaaay too tight. OTOH, I have 2 size 12 dresses that are still too tight around the hips and i suspect that they'll fit as soon as I drop to a size 10 anywhere else. Confused yet? :D I have been! Ha! Anyway ... I am hoping that when I drop into the 150s, I'll be in a size 10, but I'm not going to count on it. My goal weight is 135 and a friend assures me that I'll be a 6/8 at that point, but I remember being 135 in college and wearing a 10/12. Who knows. :) . |
I lost 30 a long time ago and never went down a pants size! I lost a lot of weight in my arms and face, but I really wanted to go down a size. :(

Unfortunately clothes sizes have gotten much bigger over the years. Last time I weighed 140 (1990...LOL) at 5'7" and working out daily, I wore a size 10. The only 8 I could get into was sweat pants, and they looked very unattractively tight. I saved some of my old Levi's jeans thinking they would never go out of style and gave them to a friend just recently who claimed to be a size 10, they wouldn't go over her thighs. Her pre-teen daughter tried them on (size 4) and they were just a little loose. She kept them, and enjoys telling everyone they are antique jeans!!
