How come an owner can tell their pet is laughing while the rest of us think the pet is wanting to eat your face lol
LOL--well, for one thing, he is purring so hard his body is moving back and forth (I'm not moving him back and forth, he is purring so hard, he's rocking. lol) For another, 1) he often will turn over and "present" his belly for kisses and tickles, 2) when I try to stop, he'll nip at me to get my attention back to himself. 3) Merlyn is extremely intelligent... I mean this cat is probably "cat mensa material" and he isn't being held down--he can get up and walk away anytime he wants...but he stays there and purrs, so voila--he loves it.

That being said, sometimes I'll hold his feet back against the bed and tickle him under his "arms" and on his elbows--that makes him mad sometimes and when I let him go, he'll run to the nearest cat and slap them if I don't "sweet talk" him first and calm him down. Most cats are very sensitive/ticklish and can turn from enjoying something to hating it in a split second and I respect that about them. But believe me--Merlyn is so spoiled rotten, it's a wonder his bones hold together.

I have 7 other cats that I've tried this on--Sarmoti isn't ticklish, so he's mostly bored by it and tries to go to sleep, Silkie whines like she's being tortured and I feel sorry for her, so I don't "get her belly", Bastet likes it, Indy acts like he thinks I'm going to bite him, Sanura likes it okay, but really likes the cuddle at the end the best, Chryseis acts annoyed because she is "busy" and it stops her "forward motion", Chaim (he was a feral) gets freaked out, so I don't do it to him at all. Cats are like people--some like being snuggled and kissed on, and some don't.

If anyone has kitties and wants to visit our kitty website, come on over! We are a small group, know a LOT about cats, their behaviours and their medical problems. We welcome new members. But if you register, put in your profile something about cats so that we know you aren't a spammer and we don't delete you. It may take a day or two to get your account active. I'm one of the administrators there.

Oh I was kidding lol. Have you never seen someone with a dog that is bearing its fangs and the owner will say oh he is smiling lol. My Winkie is rotten thru and thru lol. He only pays attention to me when he wants something. He loves the kids. He only wants something to do with me if he is sick or something is wrong. That is ok. I know I am needed when he doesn't go to anyone but me when he doesn't feel well.

Oh, wow--he considers you his mom!! Acts just like human kids!

I gave the long "reasons" because actually, you aren't the first to mention that Merlyn might be angry. I just wanted people who watch the video not think he was being tortured. ;) He and Indy are my biggest cuddlers...they can cuddle all night with me--but they hate each other, so that sometimes causes problems. :dizzy:.
