American for Porrige?
Hello
I can't seem to find porrige on Fitday and i'm guessing there is an american word for it? Anyone know what plain porrige is on Fitday? Thanks :D |
If you're using oats in your porridge, look up oats or oatmeal. If you use milk to cook the oats, you'll have to add that, too.
Looks like porridge can be any kind of boiled cereal, but most often is oats. Jay |
I'm pretty sure it's equal to just plain oatmeal. If it's made of cornmeal, then it's grits.

I've always wondered what porridge was exactly. It always sounds so lovely and comforting. I hate oatmeal and grits, but perhaps if I called them porridge I'd grow to like them. :dizzy:

Thanks! I also find the word porrige comforting, makes me think of the winter holidays when I didn't want to venture outside!

Hot breakfast cereal is a common American term for "porridge".

In America, ours are under a bunch of different names
~Farina (name brands Cream Of Wheat, Coco Wheats, etc.) ~Oatmeal ~Grits And so on and so forth. I would do as the others have suggested, and look up specifically the kind you are eating, plus any additives. |
