  • What do you listen to when you are working out? Personally, I put on the loudest stuff I have and work it out to the beat. Sometimes I even scream and yell right along with the music, even if I am walking around outside. People probably think I am insane! I have a 30 gig ipod, so I have a lot of room for variety, luckily, because I get bored easy. Maybe you can give me some ideas for cds to buy when I get tired of the stuff I have!
  • I like a good mixture of different music...but basically the same as you, really loud stuff with a good beat. Here lately it's been Marilyn Manson, Seether and My Chemical Romance...if you like that kinda stuff lol
  • Within Temptation, Epica, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Korn, After Forever, System of a Down, D'espairsRay, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Otep, Evanescence, Seether, Nirvana, Dir en grey, Head Phones President, The Gazette, just to name a few of the bands. (I have to thank my awesome little friend with his extremely peculiar taste in music for turning me onto a lot of those bands.) Basically, a lot of 'harder' music and a lot of female-lead rock/metal/whatever-you-wanna-call-it.
  • Lately I've been listening to a lot of dj mixes and mashups from the internet. DJ's mix them up and then post them on the internet. Some are great and some really stink, so I save them for a rainy day!
  • My solution is an expensive one but I love it and it works for me. I buy workout CD's from www.dynamixmusic.com

I have never been much of music collector so my only pupose of owning anything is to workout. Their music is kept at a consistent beat and the CD's I buy have no breaks inbetween songs.

  • Wow alot of people have similar tastes to me these week evanescence, bif naked, flyleaf, AFI, the donnas.
  • Defying Gravity from Wicked is the best song to push to the end of a workout!
  • Lincoln Park, Rihanna, Will Smith (odd I know but I like his old stuff) Christina Aguilara, eminem ....

Yes that's me singing (yelling) down the street too. crazy chicks out again! I dance too. I know the white coats are coming.
  • LOL! I wonder what people think when they see and hear me rocking out coming down the street! I already get some stares! Oh well, I am having fun, that's what matters, right??!!

I listen to random stuff so I don't really have any advice there, but I wanted to say that on Ellen one time they have Billy Blanks son and he has come up with his own form of exercise and it basically is dancing and singing. He says that singing while dancing increases the intensity of the workout and I tried it while he was doing it and whoosh. What a workout. So my advice is keep on singin!
  • If I'm in a hardcore mood I like listening to Hole's "Live through this" (a throwback from my high school days ) I also like Son Seals, Elliott Smith, Spoon and many more - I guess my music doesn't have the typical "workout beat" but I like it.
  • I keep singing because
    1. I can and who cares
    2. It's fun
    3. It lets me know I'm still breathing during my run/walk/jog.
    4. It's fun to annoy the neighbors & embarass my kids
  • LOL@ lost chick!!! I am sure your kids love that! Luckily I sing in the area I work, so my neighbors can't hear my horrible voice!! Whatever gets us through our workouts, right??!!
  • When I run, lately, I'm listening to Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Heartless B*stards, Gorillaz, Brother Ali, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco. Has to have a good beat and preferably smart and engaging lyrics to keep me distracted from thinking about how much further I have to go.

When I walk or lift weights, it's been Feist, Regina Spektor, Elliot Smith.
  • For me, I have to distinguish between music I would listen to just for pleasure and music I work out to because they're very different things in my case. I like to listen to a lot of indie and alternative stuff, but it doesn't necessarily keep me pumped for my workout, so I listen to a lot of dance-y pop/hip-hop/overplayed radio stuff while working out including: Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Outkast, Fergie, Daft Punk, etc. Stuff with a thumping bass beat with a tempo that will keep me moving. If it wants to make me chair-dance, it's usually a good sign that it will work for me.
