Are there any ZERO calorie foods?

I thought of this drinking my zero calorie diet coke. Are there any zero calorie foods? If so, what are they?

There is a salad dressing that claims to contain 0 calories made by Walden farms, but it's basically a mass of chemicals and water, with some seasonings in there in such small amounts that the amount of calories is considered negligible and not counted per serving size.

If it has real food in it, then it will have real calories  Even so-called negative calorie foods contain calories and they don't really use more calories to digest than they contain. However, celery might be a good one to consider. It's very high in fiber, and low in calories, and it would be seriously difficult to consume many calories from celery :)

Many veggies have a very low caloric count.

Zepher 01-20-2008 07:14 PM

Sugar-free gum :). If you chew it long enough to work off the 3.5 calories.
Also shirataki noodles (the kind made without soy), not quite zero calories, but really low.

Yes, veggies are the lowest in calories... I don't think anyone has ever gotten fat from eating to many raw veggies, celery and cucumbers are very low in calories ...

Coffee, tea and water are the zero-calorie drinks I rely on! Plus a few diet sodas.

I love celery and cukes. Pickles are very low in calories too. I actually thought there may be some zero calorie foods (other than veggies which are low) that were out there somewhere! LOL :dizzy:

michellenew 01-22-2008 05:55 PM

rakuette 01-27-2008 11:20 AM

i always heard that green beans had zero
and celery too

kimmieone 01-27-2008 02:39 PM

I pretend some raw veggies are zero calories, like raw onions, raw spinach, raw lettuce and stuff like that, if I eat it raw I don't count it. I figure as low in calories they are I have no worries, so far so good. I do understand they have a few calories, but whatever gets me to goal and save me some measuring. Other than that I don't count tea or coffee, just what I add to them.

I just turned down the last peice of my bday cake. My daughter made it for me on friday. I ate a peice then and again yesterday and my diet started today. I am starving and i still have to wait an hour before i can start cooking dinner. I know right now its a mental thing. I saw the calories on the scales this morning from the cake i ate.

Those are shirataki noodles. 40 calories for the whole bag. Some people hate em, I happen to like them. Just rinse them off and warm them up in boiling water. Lots of volume - without the calories.

Green beans are not zero calorie...but who's gonna binge on them? :dizzy:

Celery comes pretty close to zero calorie...it's a lotta work to chew the raw stuff up. :D

2beautiful2Bfat 01-28-2008 07:29 AM

Hunt's juicy gels have 5 cals and they are pretty good.
