stuck at 200??

I by no means am saying I stalled or plateaued but has anyone else had the problem of losing weight and then all of a sudden....your stuck at 200. I have been bouncing between 200.5 and 201.4 for 5 days now and its driving me NUTS!!! I just want to hit that 199 mark so bad..which is probably why I am not losing. I started a herbal cleanse this morning hopefully that will osuh me under the 200 (i started one when I just before I got pregannt lost 5lbs....then had to stop becuase I found out I was pregnant)

DMNewman 01-16-2008 11:45 AM

I dunno but if I hit a hard spot I might have to try that out lol Keep up the good work!

wease513 01-16-2008 12:01 PM

I have been in the boat for years. I can never get past the 200 mark. I am hoping that I can change that this year. My suggestion is to keep on keeping on. IT WILL HAPPEN. :-)

rockinrobin 01-16-2008 12:17 PM

Irishfairy - breathe - breathe. Good. You ARE so close and you ARE going to get there. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but real, real soon. You've been doing great staying on plan and that WILL result in weight loss, but it won't necessarily show up that quickly. Give it a week or two and you will be FIRMLY planted in ONEderland. Hang tough.

irishfairy 01-16-2008 12:28 PM

lol thanks robin....its just sooo frusterating

Scenestealer 01-16-2008 01:26 PM

Just be careful of those cleanse-type things... they basically just result in temporary loss, but don't have much (if any) health benefit.

vek 01-16-2008 02:32 PM

Try to make a change in your diet. Remove some calories and add a bit of exercising. Just a bit. To kick it!

stacylambert 01-16-2008 05:41 PM

I say just keep doing what you've doing but skip the scale for a few days. Then all of a sudden you'll be well under that 200 mark. I did the same thing when i was almost at 199 and as soon as I stopped stressing (which alone can case you to not lose weight) I was 197! Also, drink some extra water, if you ate something extra salty recently that could be causing you to hold onto some water weight.

Liliann 01-16-2008 06:02 PM

Hang in there! You are doing wonderful and in time that scale will be kind to you.. Just keep up what you are doing!!

its not the kind of cleanse your thinking of. its just like an herbal health thing its made with all herbs that I have eaten before nothing scary and I don't have to change my diet

Horo 01-17-2008 04:25 AM

200 is a stubborn demon!! Grr.

Scenestealer 01-17-2008 06:45 AM

Irish, can you tell me more about it? That sounds intriguing. The cleanses always interested me until I heard how dangerous they are, so I'd love to try a safe one.

lorilove 01-17-2008 09:59 AM

Yes that happended to me - I bounced around the 200 mark for like 4 weeks. I just kept doing what I knew was right and stayed true to my plan. Then one day the scale popped and I was at 197.

Hang in there - sometimes the Diet Gods just like to play with our minds.

Nicci how are things today? Just wondering if you have went under the 200 mark?

irishfairy 01-17-2008 11:18 AM

NO!!! I am going insane its like a bounce between 201.4 and 200.5 at this point 200.4 would be exciting for me!!!! should I increase or decrease my calories...add more exercise??? any suggestions???

baffled111 01-17-2008 12:07 PM

You don't need to change anything. Just keep doing what you're doing and eventually the scale will shift. Weight loss is a capricious thing and we have to learn to be a little bit patient. (But adding in more exercise is almost never a bad thing.)

Tinky009 01-17-2008 12:23 PM

Irish- Hey girl, the same thing happened to me too. I stayed away from the scale for that week. I also didn't do my vigorous exercise and did some walking. Kept my calories normal. The next week I was at 199.8
It will happen. Don't let this stress you out. ;)

irishfairy 01-17-2008 01:48 PM

lol thanks guys....it just sucks!!! :P I am gonna keep doing what I am doing hopefully I will wake up one moring and have dropped 5 lbs lol

Switzie6 01-17-2008 01:57 PM

I've heard people talk about zig zagging calories to break a plateau. I've never done it myself but may try it if I need a boast. Basically eat a different amount of calories each day but make sure they average your calorie goal at the end of the week. So eat high some days and low some days. Maybe worth a try? Someone else might actually have tried it before.

lorilove 01-17-2008 02:14 PM

Unless you have been stuck for over 1 month I would not consider that a Plateau.

As for any "Cleansing" - that is not real fat or weight loss so what is the point.

irishfairy 01-17-2008 02:22 PM

it cleanses out the stuff that makes your fat "stick" in your body so you are more capable of losing weight it also helps clean out the stuff stuck in your intestines. I have done lots of research on it....its basically a large dose of fibre I am taking

freethetoys 01-17-2008 02:28 PM

hey i realise this has pretty much already been answered but i had this exact problem. i lost 40lbs then when i got to 200 i got stuck, i was going nowhere. i think i lost all effort at that point. but i wish i hadnt, because i took a break, lost some more, took a break and im still here. if i had kept going, then by now i would be well on my way to perfect weight size. BUT not dwelling to much, i think it has alot to do with routine, your body getting used to food, exercise and portion size and meal times. well it was with me, so shaking things up a bit, trying new ideas, new foods, meals, or cutting somthing like carbs down ina diet can really help. this week i have been cutting carbs and it is reallly helping, i dont feel so bloated its great.
so keep with it dont give up, just keep that determinism.

irishfairy 01-17-2008 02:31 PM

thanks free I already cut down on my carbs...no white bread,s pastas, rice or potatoes and decreased my brown breads etc :)

DMNewman 01-17-2008 02:37 PM

Nicci- you need to get me the name of that in case I got stuck at 200 pounds lol

irishfairy 01-18-2008 01:48 PM

Man.... lost .2 .... 200.2 now GRRR

perclady 01-21-2008 02:13 AM

Our bodies have a tendency to "sit" where they are comfortable - most likely a weight that you spent a lot of time at. In the past I always got stuck at 186. Just couldn't break it. Just drink lots of water and stay off the scale for a few days. You're body will soon realize you mean business and in a few days you'll get off the scale with a huge smile!

lostchick 01-22-2008 03:34 PM

Yep 200 is a terrible #. I've been bouncing around it too for several months. Up down up down. Yesterday I was a 195 then today 198? HUH???? Scale gods are messing with me. I was very very low in calories this weekend so I expected to force the scale a bit, it did :carrot: then today it pushed right back LOL. I will win this struggle. And so will you. Sending the whoosh fairy to you.
