Calorie Counting at Fast Food Restaurants

I was catching up on my DVR, and saw a report on 60 Minutes from last Sunday (11/18) about calories at fast food restaurants. It was pretty interesting, and can be read here:

My favorite part was when they were talking about how the nutritional info is posted online, and they said "no one is going to check a website before they go eat." Well, that's exactly what I (and I'm sure most of you) do before I touch anything! :)

Yeah, I check if I know in advance....plus I keep a calorie king book in the the glove compartment. I don't eat fast food often but ****, I never know when I'm gonna get stuck out and I'm hungry. I'll whip that puppy out in a moment.

My DH is diabetic, and his Dr. gave him a book put out by Lilly, called Nutrition in the Fast Lane. Very handy to carry in the car. Has all calorie counts plus the other nutrional info as well as exchange values.

Before DH and I go on a road trip I check a lot of different restaurant websites and then write down what looks reasonable in calories. I also have a book I carry with me, but it isn't always as up to date as the websites.

Some Canadian places still dont have nutritional info online.. so not only do I look it up.. I compare it to other places that do have info online and guesstimate or decided not to go there.
