I read both
Fit Day and My Daily Plate are both awesome. I signed up with both of them and I am amazed!
Currently I am following the Weight Watchers Core Plan. Not too strict but no junk foods. All that was eliminated. Anyways, these calculators say I should eat 1883 calories/day to lose weight. I had been on about 2000 calories per day for some time and the weight has come off very nicely. I looked at a sample 1800 calorie day and I was amazed it was virtually the same as what I'm doing now! My question is this... I asume that I stay on 1800 calories per day from now to goal to achieve a 1.5 lb. weight loss as per their calculations or am I incorrect> Thanks for your responses! I am out of a lot of Plus sizes and into a lot of XL's. I have been in Plus sizes for over 20 years so this is quite a milestone for me!:carrot::carrot::carrot: |
One more thing... as of yesterday I have lost 50 lbs.! It took me 22 weeks and one day to do.
|
Congratulations on a great loss!!
|
So you have been eating 2000 calories/day and losing an average of 2.27 lbs per week up til now
Has your weight loss stalled? If not, I see no reason to decrease your calories further. Keep on doing what you have been doing! If your weight loss stalls for several weeks THEN I would consider going lower. |

Congratulations! Very well done indeed.
I second the people who say that if you are in fact losing on your plan, why change it? You will need to cut calories as you get smaller, but as long as you lose "save" that for later |
I have been averaging 200 calories a day or a little more. I thought ok, look at Fit Day and see what they had and also MyDailyPlate.com
I figured on what did their sites say per their calculations as to the time it takes to get down to goal. They are saying it takes a skooch under 2000 cals. to achieve this so I figured this might be a good place to ask what you all think. |
But they can only ESTIMATE what you burn in a day. There is no "one size fits all" calorie requirement. You may indeed be burning more than they estimate. Their estimates are based on weight and maybe height (?) and some reported "activity level" But they dont really know what your metabolism is. You may fidget more or less than average. Your body fat may be higher or lower than it thinks, etc. Your definition of your job activity may be different than what they define it as.
If you are eating a bit over 2000 and still losing then you are doing great! Cutting further may not be necessary, and why go lower than you have to. I would look at average loss over a month and see if you feel you need to tweak, not rely on some program to tell you what you "should" be doing. |
I eat an average of 1829 calories per day by calorie cycling:
Sun: 1800 Mon: 2000 Tue: 1400 Wed: 2800 Thu: 1200 Fri: 1500 Sat: 2100 I also take a free day every 2 weeks and eat anything I want. I've lost 50lbs since June. A lot of places recommend you lower your calories as you lose more weight, but I plan to eat the same amount and increase my cardio from 3-4 days a week to 6-7 days, and keep up with strength training. It will take longer but that's ok -- I'm in this for life. I believe it's ok to eat up to your TARGET maintenance calories and eventually you will arrive there. |
