Tom Venuto

I just bought his ebook and am reading (350 pages!) Anyone else do this. It makes soooo much sense after I've dieted myself obese in the last few years!!!!

Just wondering if anyone is further along than I am.....

Kelley - if you'd like to check over in the Ladies Who Lift - Bodybuilding forum, there are a number of members who are doing or have followed BFFM. I personally think it's an awesome book, full of worthwhile information. :)

Who is Tom Venuto?

beachlace 09-04-2007 09:27 PM

He is a body builder who wrote an ebook which seems great. It's not just for bodybuilders, I certainly am not. It seems to contain the greatest info . For instance, why do we hit a plateau and what can be done to avoid it? How do keep your metabolism ramped up and on and on. Was just wondering if anyone had any comments about it so I guess I'll try the other board.

Good Luck,

Kelley

I have that ebook too. Yup, it's good. I should run through it again.

What's the book called? Sounds interesting.

beachlace, I'm so glad you started this thread!

That's because I've been wondering . . . is there anyone out there who can compare Tom Venuto's and John Berardi's nutrition books?

Mel 09-05-2007 08:24 PM

They are very, very similar, as are almost all plans aimed at a synthesis of resistance training, nutrition and cardiovascular exercise.

Tom Venuto goes into a lot of detail about WHY this works and the method behind the "plan". I gave away my hard copy of BFFM a few years ago to a client and then lost the download when my computer died :( Otherwise, I'd go reread it.

Toca Reno's Clean Eating is also very similar but with less detail on why it all works together.

Does bodybuilding help with the loose skin? The ideal of having it cut off just makes me cringe. Its not bad yet(or maybe it because I'm so thrilled the weight is gone)and I have seen women on The Learning Channel were they lost a lot of weight and did body building and they look great and no cutting anything off.

Bodybuilding will build muscle, which can fill in loose skin to a certain extent. But bodybuilding (or any exercise for that matter) won't affect your skin and can't make excess skin shrink.

Some people are lucky and lose weight without a problem with excess skin. Others can tuck the skin into bathing suits and posing suits and still look great. Clothes etc can be wonderful camouflage!
