Help....I keep gaining!?!?!

  • Okay, so i started out 146 pounds:?, joined a gym (went 5 days a week), ate 1400 calories a day and got down to 130 pounds. In the past three months i have gained almost twelve pounds. What has changed is my routine, I started back in school so now I do workout dvd 5 days a week for about 30 minutes. i felt i might not have been working out as much as i used to, so i cut my calories to 1200. I just keep gaining! I've tried to up my calories, lower them, nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any advice, i need it, i am getting so frustrated! And now it's like, "What's the point of doing all this work if I'm not getting anywhere." Please help!
  • I'm gonna say you're either eating more calories than you think or you're not working out as hard as you used to. It's very easy to make errors in food intake because most people are always trying different foods. The body, on the other hand, does not make errors. It knows exactly how many calories you've taken in and how many you've burned off working out.

Recheck the calories in every item you eat. Sorry, tedious. Add them all up each day. Don't forget to add things like stuff you toss in your mouth while cooking or shopping. Be especially wary of fats since a tablespoon has so many calories.
  • I agree with the fact that you may not be burning as much as you think you are. I bought a DVD that said I would burn 1000 cals (it was 1 hr long) and when I used my heart rate monitor I was burning about 300! Since you know pretty much what the count of the foods are you are eating, I would get a heart rate monitor to see how much you are really burning. I would also go back and see how much you were burning vs. how much you were eating when you were losing. Good luck and hang in there!!!!
