Am I eating enough?

Well, I've been losing ok so far, but am wondering if I'm eating enough. I exercise away at least 500 cals a day (many days more) and eat about 1400 cals a day. I really want to lose 2 lbs a day. Am I eating enough to lose, or is this right? I've checked the calculators but they don't seem to account for daily exercise cals. Thanks!:D

A day? That is impossible.

If you wanted to lose 2lbs a week you should try for a calorie deficit of 7,000 calories. That should do it, but remember that our bodies are not machines and any "calculation" is bound to be a bit off.

1400 sounds good imo. I heard losing 1-2lbs a week is healthy opposed to 2lbs a day. That would be 14lbs a week and it sounds to me unhealthy to lose that much weight that quickly. I am sure someone with more experience will reply soon and give you some advice.

Sorry! I meant a week, of course not a day!

Have you tried logging what you eat and your exercises into Fitday.com? Thats what I use and it really helpful.

We have similar goals and when i'm on plan, that's what i do and that works for me. Keep in mind there were times when I dropped 3 pounds and a lot more times when it was .5 a pound at a time so just be patient, keep it up, and at the end of the month you should see if you've averaged about 2 pounds a week. if not you can tweak a bit.

If you have enough energy and aren't starving all the time, I'd say your calories are just fine. If you're feeling a bit lethargic then you could up them to 1500 and see how you go. It's part art, part science and you need to take the cues from your own body :)

Thanks! It's nice to know I'm on track. I appreciate all the help!
