Lima Bean Confusion
I looked up the calorie counts on Lima Beans from dried in various places, including the daily plate and this sites calorie list. But the numbers seem to vary so widely, I haven't a clue as to how to count it.
I have baby lima beans, and I normally soak and boil them. Then I measure out about 1/4 of a cup per serving. Does anyone have a general idea how many cals that may be?????? Thanks for your help! |
I did a search on calorieking dot com. This is the selection I made from the choices given after I entered "lima beans": vegetables, dried: beans, lima, baby, mature seeds, boiled, drained, no salt added.
It tells me that 1/4 cup has 54 calories. (This is an average of all brands.) Kimberly |
Baby limas,cooked ,1/2 cup =90 calories. 1/4 cup would be 45 calories.

What does the nutrition label on your bag of dried baby lima beans say for the nutrition information? I guess that's what I would go by if you have that available. Then again, maybe you don't have that since you are looking for the info!
You could take an average of our two responses... 59 + 45 = 104 / 2 = 52 ;) Kimberly |
Thanks so much! That is definitely seems like a reasonable amount of calories ..... I will take the average of your two responses. Good idea :)
