Default NSV Friday anyone?

I loved reading all of the posts last week about everyone's NSVs so let's have 'em!

I went out sightseeing over the weekend and had to eat lunch out, I opted for a small bowl of chili with a diet soda. We stopped by a choclatier shop and I had one cashew turtle and about 1.5 oz of fudge we bought. We walked for hours that day but I came home and did a mini-workout to help offset the calories. It could have been a wreck the diet day but I decided differently.

4star- Thats awsesome! I think thats what keeping the weight going down and gone for good is all about. Adjusting your behavior when days like that come. Awesome job!

I had one on wednesday night. Papa johns was having a special where they donated 20% of sales to my step-daughters school. Also you mention the teachers name and whatever class was mentioned most would win a pizza party. So hubby decided we are doing pizza for dinner. I looked it up online before the pizza arrived and one slice of veggie pizza was 280 cals. I only had 400 cals left for dinner. I ate 1 and only 1 slice of pizza. And since DH didnt want the leftovers the next day and I trew them out! I have never in my life managed to eat only 1 slice of pizza. I felt empowered and liberated at the same time. I can eat unhealthy foods in moderation and not wreck my plan .

One slice! That is great!

I agree. Weight is meant to be managed not battled. When you manage something, you pay attention to detail and make solid choices to help something run smoother to get a better result. Battles are long, hard fought, and claim lives. That line of thinking makes eating a healthy diet seem like it's not doable but it totally is.

that's a REALLY awesome practice in moderation!!! i bet you got to eat something really yummy for the other 120 cals too!!

deprivation and moderation are not the same thing!!

I love the stories about the one chocolate turtle and the one slice of pizza! It really is good to be able to stop at a reasonable amount!

Let's see, NSVs this week...

#1) Well, I was dead tired the other day, and did not feel like going to the grocery store to replenish my vegetables and healthy foods. I really wanted to go through the drive-thru at Taco Bell instead. But I went to the grocery store, bought the vegetables, went home and grilled them, and they were delicious! I sometimes have to remind myself that a year ago, there would have been no question about it -- it would have been Taco Bell.

#2) I was finalizing my teaching schedule for the semester today, and I actually included blocks of time for eating lunch, snacks, and dinner. So at the beginning of the day, before I go to work, I can pack up the healthy foods I will need. It's always been a problem for me, when I get busy, that I either don't have time to eat, or catch myself unprepared with something healthy, or get in a panic because I *think* I won't have time to eat, so I overeat (often fast foods that I don't even like!) Planning ahead has made all the difference in my weight loss, and I want to keep that habit for maintenance.

My NSV is that I am still calorie counting. I've never lost more than 35 pounds on a diet. I have now, and am not quitting.

Wow! Awesome jobs ladies!!

For me, my favorite Jeans were baggy out of the drier on Wednesday!! So glad, usually my tummy hangs over them when they were fresh out of drier! Also I have to go to goodwill tomorrow because at least half of my shirts are so big they droop to far down and show off my bras...if I keep losing size this quickly (only lost 12 lbs) I may have to adjust final goal to avoid the twig look!!

I think we should have a thread like this every week!!

I so love these threads! It's nice to hear the perks sometimes instead of just the numbers.

tavvy- that is so exciting! Have you made all that progress in 19 days? How thrilled are you!?

rachelm-

Queen Sarah- I too am focusing on getting to maintenance and maintaining it. Building healthy habits is key to making sure it doesn't just creep back on! Luckily, I am a good cook so I really do enjoy eating healthy foods.

Nice reading you ladies!

My NSV is definately that my restart is going good. It took me a while but I am finally into it. Been eating on plan for days!

Another NSV is that I made meringues (low cal, only 25cals a piece) and I haven't eaten them all in one day.

my nsv this week?

i thought about it long and hard. and it's being within my calorie range. not only is it being within my calorie range, but it's also not restricting myself.

i have been able to plan my meals so that i get to eat anywhere between 100-200 calories worth of chocolate, every day.

it always seems as though i am never really hungry before lunch, and then right after eating my lunch i get ravenous (i work in a office, by 1 or 2 pm, i want to eat anything and everything due to complacentcy)

My next step? I want to start cutting the chocolate. i had a box of mint patties for a while (each was was 30 cals) they were pre-wrapped and i would eat just 1 a day right after lunch.

then i ran out

another goal for next week: no cheat meals.

Tavvy, maybe you could buy a few camisoles to wear under the tops that got big enough to "look into"--that would stretch them a bit longer for you to wear.

Queen Sara - totally agree with you on taking the hard route (grocery shopping vs. Taco Bell). In the end, it was so worth it to eat the good food and not the convenient junk, right?

Well, I had a NSV today and a SV today. I am finally back to 170 - which I had hit the day before Thanksgiving. Over the holidays I didn't run amok but I wasn't strict. Now I feel like I'm in control and the Trifecta of Holiday Evil is truly behind me and I'm totally back on track. I had to ease into it since 1/3/12. Anyhow, thrilled with 170 and approaching the 160s.

My NSV today was a coworker is retiring, and we were taking surprise photographs. I work in a large company and don't see the same people all the time. One of the ladies there for the picture looks at me and sticks up her pinky (as if to make the letter "i" in sign language) and I didn't realize she was motioning "you're getting skinny"....until I asked her...and she said....you're getting skinny. LOL Of course, I had to explain that basically I'm the same as Thanksgiving, because heaven forbid I could just say thank you and not confess. Ha.

I'm doing this. I'm really in it now for life. Gotta love that.

Yes, not to mention that the groceries last for several meals, while the Taco Bell is gone in one meal!

Your NSV reminded me of another one I forgot, since it happened way back last Sunday -- I was eating at a nice restaurant (Seasons 52) and commented that I eat there because everything is under 475 calories, and I'm watching my calories. Then the waitress brought the dessert tray, and I passed on it, reminding her that I'm watching my calories. She said "But you're TINY!" I smiled and said "BECAUSE I'm watching my calories!"

(I suppose I should have been more gracious, and just said thank you. I'm not used to being called "tiny.")

Next time -- we'll just say thank you! We'll get better at this.

It's not a real NSV, but I had my first binge of the year. But I tracked it, and will move on. It was about 500-600 calories and I only went over 144. So it's not that bad. But I was proud that I tracked it. I've never done that before-only pretended that it never happened.
