thinking about getting started

:) what are your fave lo-cal breakfast ideas? btw- hate eggs- in any way shape or form. can't stomach them at all...so what else is there? also, i would like to try to avoid processed foods, not that i'm gonna be a fanatic, but i rely way too much on that stuff and would like to eat 'healthier' as well as less and lose weight.
hugs

Oatmeal!

And don't rule out non-breakfast foods. If you want a turkey sandwich for breakfast, go right ahead! :)

I like eggs, but will omit them from the list for you!!
  • small whole wheat tortilla (50 cal) + 1 T peanut butter, nuke for 10 seconds and then wrap it around a banana
  • plain non-fat yogurt (fage) with 4-6 sliced strawberries and half (or more) sliced banana and then top with a couple tablespoons of granola
  • berries, berries and more berries
  • small bean and cheese burrito (ww tortilla, ff refried beans or whole black beans and a little low fat Mexican blend cheese with salsa)
  • raisin bran and fat free milk
  • steel cut oatmeal with raisins

I had low-fat (100% Lactose Free) cottage cheese and a carrot for breakfast this morning.

Plain yogurt with an orange cut up and stirred in is another favorite.

Saute up some veggies, add a crumbled veggie sausage (or other protein source - shrimp? chicken?), roll into a tortilla with salsa! For speed, I would make a big batch of sauteed veggies on Monday and just nuke them every morning :)

YES!!! You know a turkey sandwich is great for breakfast...I actually made the kids some during spring break and they loved it!!

I dont like eggs very much either...very rarely eat one!! I eat oatmeal just about daily....
Other days I've had:
some cottage cheese and some Dr Kracker seedlander crackers...
Banana, totilla, peanut butter roll-up discussed in other threads...
Kashi Pilaf with a sprinkle of maple sugar

I have been eating the same breakfast for the past 2 months, maybe more. I find it highly nutritious, tasty and satisfying. 1/2 cup Fiber One Cereal mixed with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Cereal and 1/2 cup skim milk.

I'll second oatmeal. If you like cold cereal, I vote Kashi GoLean Crunch or Kashi Heart to Heart (if you like Cheerios--very similar).

When I'm actually doing what I should be doing and get my exercise done in the morning, I like to follow it with a breakfast smoothie. I use a frozen banana, 2 scoops vanilla protein powder, and skim milk. If I haven't exercised (so I don't need as much protein), I will do either the frozen banana with peanut butter and milk, or a banana with frozen strawberries and skim milk (this is the lowest-calorie option). I used to hate the idea of drinking my calories, but the smoothies really are so tasty that I look forward to them, and I try to eat about every 3 hours, so they hold me over just fine until my next snack.
