Thank You all! I dont seem to be as hungry now that Ive done it for a couple of days. I am eating approx every 3 hrs and have kept under 1250 cals the last 2 days. My big will power problem is at night when Im at work. (I work as a nurse on 11-7 shift) But hopefully with t ime my stomach will get used to it:carrot:

I'm the kind of person who likes to sit down and eat a MEAL so I'm not sure just eating 200 calories at a sitting would satisfy me, but I think I'll try it and maybe have a couple days a week where I eat larger meals.

Look at Robin's example of her calorie breakdown--she still eats 6 times a day, but her dinner is 400-500 calories.

Also, if you like veggies, then 200 calories can still be a LOT of food. I'm a bulk eater as well, but I don't like many veggies (and NEVER plain veggies), so it's definitely a challenge. However, for about 200 calories, I can have:
  • a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
  • a ham, turkey, cheese, lettuce, honey mustard, ff mayo sandwich
  • a small bowl of crock pot salsa chicken (chicken breast, salsa, black beans, corn, onion, seasonings, sprinkle of cheddar cheese)--add this on top of a bed of shredded lettuce for a huge and satisfying mock taco salad
  • 2 cups of thick, creamy red pepper and tomato soup with croutons (the croutons may bring it up to about 230 calories, but I LOVE them, and 2 cups of a creamy soup is quite a large serving)
  • grilled cheese sandwich (add a slice of center-cut bacon for just 25-30 calories)
  • smoothie of skim milk, frozen strawberries, and a small banana (or half of a large banana)
  • 2 cups of fresh strawberries with some fat-free cottage cheese or Cool Whip or homemade dip of Cool Whip, yogurt, and sugar free vanilla pudding mix
  • good-sized serving of chicken stir fry (I prefer mine without rice so I can have more of the stir fry)
  • satisfying serving of homemade orange chicken and broccoli
  • fat-free hotdog on wheat bun with ketchup and relish (about 140 calories--sometimes add a slice of cheese to bring it up to 195)
  • SmartOnes makes 2 meals I buy frequently that have less than 200 calories each--one is a Mexican style chicken and veggies and the other is a sweet and sour chicken and veggies, I believe
  • 4 oz chicken breast topped with bacon and cheese (baked so the cheese is all nice and melted on top)
I also don't eat a lot of "snacky" foods, as I find they don't fill me up or last as long in my stomach. I'd much rather have a 100-cal cup of soup than a 100-cal snack pack that won't really satisfy me or hold me over.

I'm very hungry on 1500 calories, even after 5 months of being very careful about what I eat. I eat very healthy foods most of the time too, and that has no bearing on my hunger. I've just had to deal with the hunger, to be honest, to get this weight off. Lately I've been eating around 1500 to 1800, and I am HUNGRY on that. Once this weight comes off I can eat til I'm satisfied (around 2000 calories) and maintain, as long as I work out, so I'm looking forward to that. Being hungry, esp. in the evenings, stinks.

Jill: Thanks for all the advice. I'm definitely trying to incorporate more vegetables into my diet. So much food for so little calories. Today I had a whole tomato sliced with pepper and apple cider vinegar on it (a snack I remember my dad would always when I was a kid)--yum!

I too like VOLUME. I always have. I can't begin to tell you how much food I eat. But it is mostly veggies. I can fill up an entire large plate full. I feel like I'm eating for a long time and I haven't spent that many calories. I eat very little grains, I know they are healthy, but I just can't stop at a little serving of them. 1/2 cup is nothing for me. So as where for the same calories instead of a measly little 1/2 cup of say brown rice I can have 3 or 4 cups of vegetables, for even less calories then the rice.
