Soy Coffee Creamer

Morning All,

I am looking for some advice on coffee creamers. I like my coffee nice and thick and used to use International Delight -- which is so yummy, but so full of calories.

I tried the Splenda version of ID, but didn't like the taste, so I am looking for something else that is thicker than skim milk.

I had heard that Silk Soy Coffee Creamer is pretty thick, but wanted to see if anyone here has tried it and what other creamers you use that are yummy :)

Fat free half and half mixed with sugar free torani syrup (there are a bunch of flavors, my favorite at the moment is almond). :T

edit - DOH - was it supposed to be soy? Sorry...

Where do you find the syrups at?

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd update you on my big coffee creamer decision. My DH suggested that I take skim milk and steam it in his cappuccino machine and voila, it's thick and I get foam to boot !!!

I also started adding a touch of SF Coffee Syrup and my daily coffee now tastes like such a treat every morning !!

I get the torani syrups from Smart & Final, but I've seen it at Albertson's and a small italian market. Check out the coffee section.

Hey! I actually like a soy creamer that I get at Trader Joe's - the brand is Wildwood. It's 15 cal per tablespoon and 1.5 grams of fat. It has a good taste and consistency. The other creamer I use when I don't have the soy on hand is evaporated fat free milk in a can. Even though it's fat free it's very creamy and has a great flavor in coffee. You can put the sugar free syrup in too for flavor.

The main thing I don't like about the international delights or fat free half and half is that they have high fructose syrup, as do many fat free items (especially salad dresssings). HFCS is supposed to be pretty bad for you and also is said to make you crave sweets (I don't need that). I'm not a hard core purist with what I eat, but I do try to avoid HFCS is there is another alternative.

It sounds like you came up with a great solution, but I wanted to tell you about the evaporated fat free milk as another option. Good luck!

I used to drink the International Delight creamer and when I switched to the sugar free splenda version it took me a while to get used to it. Now it tastes just wonderful to me. I just tried the Silk Soy vanilla creamer and I hated it! I love Silk soy milk so I'm suprised, but the flavor was just........odd.
