Questioning Fitday lingo

What does NFS and NLEA stand for?

Any other strange acronyms on Fitday anyone has noticed?

Silly, isn't it? I always figured NFS was "not for sure"! Maybe someone else has a clue but I sure don't.

Those abbreviations come from the USDA database, which Fitday uses. NFS stands for 'not further specified' - it's the most generic listing for a particular food. Like 'chicken' with no other details given. NLEA stands for the 'National Labeling and Education Act', but I'm not sure how it's used in Fitday. Maybe it's the standardized form of a food?

Hope that helps! :)

LOL at Not For Sure....makes sense to me.

Thanks for the answers, Meg. Here's how NLEA was used:
"Cereals, QUAKER, Oat Bran, QUAKER/MOTHER'S Oat Bran, dry 1 1/2 cup (1 NLEA serving)"

I hadn't seen NLEA before.

Ah, I think that means it's the standardized serving size set by the NLEA for that type of cereal.
