1605 Calories OVER
Over the past four days, I have consumed 6805 calories. My number should have been 5200 maximum. I am 1605 calories in the red.
I zig zag quite a bit with my calories anyway, and I am wondering if I just reduce my calories by 200 a day for the next week (so that I am consuming 1100 a day instead of 1300) if I can recover from this. Suggestions welcome. And yes... the homemade apple pie was most definitely worth it! |
You can recover!
YES! You can indeed recover from this!
I did the same thing over the Thanksgiving Holiday, and then cut back to compensate for the extra calories over the 2 weeks following Thanksgiving. I too am *way* over for the past week or so... I'm consuming about 500 calories MORE per DAY than I normally do... but that is attributed to all of the holiday food & treats which I feel are OK to indulge on, just as long as we make up for it later. I plan on cutting back the calories after the start of the year to make my calories average 1200 again, instead of 1700. Click on my fitday to see what I mean... don't worry! It can all even out of you plan it that way. |
Thanks, d2s. I'll go check out your Fitday... I'm sure it will be quite helpful to me.
I'm done with the festivity eating (we don't care much about New Year's and I finished the pie ;) ) so I should be able to stay on track. |
As long as it all balances out over the month, you'll be ok! I am up 4 lbs for the "holiday week(s)" but I know that is all water retention for all the salt I've been eating as well as the cookies & other food I've been indulging in on! I know that if I stay strict to lowering the cals for a week, I should drop those 4 and then maybe another too. Drink lots of water, especialy when you eat "bad foods" and just make sure it all balances out. You'll be fine!

Thanks so much!
You are brave to weigh yourself. I refuse! LOL |
personally, I would just go back to the "normal" plan and not try to "make up" for the past few days. Especially since normal for you is only 1300 calories You dont want to get into a deprivation/punishment system. The holidays are done, you move on. So what if you lose 1/2 lb less than you would have normally (1605 is less than 1/2 lb) - you make your goal 1 week later?

Point well taken, Ennay.
I'll see how I feel at 1100. Thanks! :-) |

Sweetie, I am right there with you on the "over" thing!
My spouse has had the last 5 days off which is very unusual for us & my toddler doesn't have therapy during the Christmas break & my 10 year old is off visiting relatives, so I have been totally lazy, eating more than usual (not bingeing but eating pizza when I normally would have had chicken & veggies) and loving every minute of it. Now the spouse is back to work, the house is a DISASTER (did I mention that I was being lazy?) and I am about 3-5 lbs heavier than I was a week ago. I know that it's partially TOM & partially water retention since I've eaten a lot of restaurant/fast food and I normally cook with no salt but still.... I'm paying for my 5 days off starting now and I am glad I can come here & get back on track. One thing that made it too easy to fall off the wagon -- I am wearing size 8 jeans & I look so much better than I did a year ago, so I found myself doing the "You earned it" thing....which is dangerous for me! |
Twin Cities girl...
First of all, Minnesota rocks! I went to the U of M and LOVED the Twin Cities. If the winters ever warm up a bit, I'll move back! Is TOM Time of the Month? I always wondered about that! You do look great! I thought One Per Decade meant that you lost one dress size every ten years. I thought... wow! she's patient!!! Read your profile, and gotta tell ya... you ARE an inspiration! I am clearly back on track with this (including the housework... I hear your pain) and think I'll be okay. I'm curious about TOM and how that affects weight. What happens if you had a hysterectomy but you still have your ovaries? Does that affect your weight? I don't remember what my TOM would have been... it's been 12 years since I kicked cancer in the butt! |
Yes, TOM is time of the month, it took me awhile to learn all the lingo here as well.
I find for me personally and I know this varies greatly among women - I have zero gain during TOM. And I have a horrendous period, I have fibroids, so I'm an EXTREMELY heavy bleeder, it lasts for a week and I have debilitating cramps especially in my back, but front as well, probably more then you needed to know. I have checked it out month after month and there is absolutely no difference on the scale for me. So I for one, can't use it as an excuse :( . But I have heard that it is quite common for women to gain up to 5 lbs. Twelve years cancer free? Wow, that's FANTASTIC. Congratulations!!!! You really, truly are an inspiration. I wish you continued good health. And I definitely agree with those that said, don't sweat the extra 1600 some odd calories. That really is nothing. This IS December, you did great. |
Gee, Robin. Thanks!
It feels good to live. Even with my excess 20+ pounds, it feels good to live!!! :carrot: |
