Skin elasticity

  • Im not sure if im in the right forum for this question, but Ill ask anyway.

I'm on my journey to drop 100 pounds. I've never had an issue losing weight before, so I know dropping the weight is doable ; however, I am curious about skin elasticity.
I am worried that once my weight is gone, I may have issues with this.

My question is, do those with experience in high weight loss know how to manage this? I am going to the gym now, (just started my journey again), and I know that building muscle helps. Does anyone else have any other recommendations for helping with the skin process?
  • Hello! Though i have never faced with such problem think everything depends on your skin type and on the speed of your weight loss!! If you go slowly with weight loss, your skin will be ok!! Gym will help as well. Maybe also you can use some creams for skin?

I have a little experience with this, not because I've lost that much weight, but because it was baby weight and so I've had some issues with stretched-out skin around my abdomen area. The number one thing that I have heard works is to drink plenty of water. It will help your skin tighten up again. I also have a skin cream but I have not seen much help from that just yet - of course it could come in time!
  • I lost fast and have very few, if any, problems. There might be a bit on my belly (could just be stubborn fat) and I have seen a teeny weeny bit on my inner thighs.

I put my experience down to the following:

    1) age. I am just 39.
    2) Genetics. Thanks mum.
    3) I eat a lot of fish and omega 3s.
    4) I work out a lot.

In that order. Don't let worrying about loose skin hold you back.
