Tummy Tuck/Body Lift Risk

I have lost 80 lbs and I'm looking at PS in the area to perform a tummy tuck/body lift and breast augmentation. I'm most worried about the actual surgery - Has anyone gone through it? What are the risks in the surgery itself? I'm a 33 female in good health, my only medical condition is Hypothyroid which I have controlled.

Also One of the doctors I consulted with suggested a body lift but the scar goes all the way around the body - Anyone have this procedure? Are they ok with the scar?

Hi Landas! Congratulations on your weight loss. You worked hard and must feel terribly proud of this accomplishment.

I have not had the surgery, but another blog I follow is written by a young woman who has and includes a whole section on nearly every aspect of it. The bonus is that she includes a lot of pictures, pre and post. I'll include it here and while I've never been in contact with her she seems very open to answering emails from her readers so it might be worth being in touch with her as you continue to fact find. Good luck!

I had a tummy tuck six weeks ago and although I am happy I did it and happy with the results, it was definitely the most painful and debilitating surgery I've ever had, including a c-section, WLS, and a facelift. The best place to get tons of information about any cosmetic surgery procedure is www.realself.com. Just type "tummy tuck" or "body lift" into the search box and you will be busy for days! LOL

Hi Landas!

I had a 360 circumferential body lift in April 2012. Yes, there is a scar that goes all the way around the body. I scar really badly. And the scar is not all that bad.

As far as the surgery goes, I had absolutely no complications. It was a long surgery (5 hours plus) and I went home the same day.

Everything is documented on my blog if you are interested.
