So, I'm 40 (almost 41 - gasp!) and so far, I've lost 71 lbs. I've lost slowly, over the last year, and I'm hoping for another 10-20 lbs. The excess skin on my arms doesn't bother me that much - I've had melanoma twice and have a huge scar on my upper left arm, so I've never been comfortable with sleeveless shirts and probably never will be, regardless of weight; however, the waddle under my chin, connecting to my neck, is making me really self-conscious!
I noticed it maybe 5 months ago and it was really striking last week when I had to get a visitor badge photo made to visit the downtown office where I work. I looked at my photo and almost fainted, my neck literally looked like a turkey neck and that waddle - ugh!!
I am hoping the skin firms up a bit over time, but I'm not very hopeful as I know my skin just isn't as elastic as it was 15 years ago.
Has anyone had cosmetic surgery specifically for the extra skin on the neck? I am fair-skinned and scar easily and deeply - so I am guessing this kind of surgery would leave me scarred pretty badly. Don't know which is worse, the waddle or the scar.
