If losing less than 50 lbs, will I have loose skin?
I realize this is a "maintainers" thread, but I wasn't sure where to post. I am 25, 5'2, and at 151 and want to be at least 130 or a little less. I already have stretch marks from gaining weight over several years and now am starting to have them from losing weight(mainly in my boobs). I maybe just be worrying for no reason but...If I only want to lose another 20 or so pounds will I have some loose skin? I plan on losing weight slowly to try and avoid more stretch marks and loose skin. But, I can't help worrying about having loose skin. I know it is not the end of the world if it happens, but I would like to try and avoid it. Is there anyone out there that lost maybe 40 or less pounds and didn't get loose skin? Thanks in advance for any insight! I think I am just being a worry wart(which is what I do best ;) )

Due to your age and the fact that you need to lose about 21 pounds, I really doubt if you will have loose skin. Young skin still has a lot of elasticity so it should skrink as you lose. Many people get stretch marks from gaining but they fade out a lot in time. So you should do great!

i am 27 and lost a total of 47 pounds, got no skin issues :)

Thank you for replying...I think I just needed someone else to say it so I would believe it. I didn't think I would have any major issues with loose skin. I am ok with the streatch marks, I have had them for years now and they don't bother me. Thanks a lot.

I clicked on this while browsing new posts.
For stretch marks, I was always told to use vitamin E cream or a lotion with vitamin E and cocoa butter. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help, but how I have always understood it, is that we cannot make them go away, but we can lighten them and keep our skin more elastic with the use of lotion every day and that vitamin E and cocoa butter is the way to go. I have also heard that sulfur lotions are great for stretch marks too, but I have never used it. |
I am 26 and have lost 42 pounds so far. I have never noticed any loose skin, but my stretch marks definitely seem more noticeable. I wish I could find a way to get rid of them. I did weight train heavily though, even when I was heavy, so that may have helped me not get the "wobbly" skin feeling as I was losing. I am losing much more slowly now, so I doubt loose skin will be an issue in the future either. You should be fine!

Do you have any loose skin now? Like, is your skin typically tight or very flabby and loose?
I highly doubt you will have any loose skin. Stretch marks? Well, who can say. Those are tricky buggers! I have lost 40 lb between the ages of 31-36 and didn't get any loose skin, except on my stomach, but seeing as I still have another 25 lb to lose I can't tell if it's fat or loose skin or both. ~BreathingSpace~ |
I've lost 45 lbs. at age 45 and I don't have any loose skin. I think you'll be okay. :smug:

I've been holding off 25 pounds for about 9 months now (at 43), and no loose skin. Maybe an acceleration of some face wrinkles ... but that also could have been from smiling a LOT more now that the 25# are gone. :D

I've lost at over 45 lbs and no (new) stretch marks have appeared. I have my old ones from when I was 22/24 from the babies, but I only weighed 115 when I got preggers both times. It was bound to happen.

You will be fine!!
