Elasticity of skin and age

  • I was just wondering, if being in my early 20's would help my skin "shrink" ?

    Thanks!
  • Being younger is definitely a plus when it comes to skin elasticity. Also, a younger person probably hasn't been overweight for as long as some of us oldsters so their skin may recover better from weight loss.
  • You have to exercise though! If you dont exercise and just cut off calories, your body will not tone up. This is happening to a friend of my mother. She is now frantically upset that since she lost 50lbs eating nothing but salad for 3 months and doing no exercise. She's complaining about her loose skin like there's no tomorrow. Whilst my mother has been dieting properly with plenty of exercise, she's lost 20lbs in 5 months, and she looks and feels fabulous!

They're not exactly in their 20's, but my point is that exercise is imperative to a healthy looking body, no matter what your age.
  • Loose skin cannot be exercised away. That is a complete untruth. Exercise can tone your muscles up but it cannot make extra skin go away.

Being younger should be a definate benefit. I am 23, though, and still had to deal with excess skin issues. So, it depends.
  • I'm 23 and am also dealing with excess skin. I have a ton of it. But it depends on a lot of other factors, my starting weight was high, I've been fat my entire life (when I graduated high school I wore size 38 mens jeans and they were tight). So all anyone can say is best of luck and hopefully you wont have a problem.
