belly after twin pregnancy

  • I thought this would be a good place to post this question!

Has anyone been through having a mushy belly from a multiple pregnancy or a very large singleton pregnancy AND weight loss? I was 180 before I got pregnant, but lost down to 170 because I wasn't eating enough for a twin pregnancy (didn't know I had twins at the time). I was 215 on the day my twins were born, and lost down to 190 within 10 days after their birth. Then I gained up to 200 before getting a handle on things and I'm now at 187. My belly is super squishy and my stretch marks have stretch makes (really, my skin looks like seersucker, it's called "twin skin"). I have a pooch hanging over my c-section scar (but it's gotten considerably smaller in 13 pounds).

Anyone care to hazard a guess at how much of my wrinkly, soft stomach is overweight and how much is having 2 babies crammed in it for 9 months? (My skin was stretched so thin and tight that my stretch marks would bleed if I scratched them.) And what about the scar? It's really creating the pooch - will that go away when I lose the weight? I kind of like my belly though - the stretch marks and lumpiness are a small price to pay for a huge belly full of big healthy babies.

Thanks ladies - I get inspiration from this forum.
  • I'll be watching this thread, because I too am a twin mommy trying to lose that weight.... I def. have the twin skin and stretch marks, and I too am wondering how its going to look as I lose weight.

I think that part of the reason I stayed pregnancy weight for a long time (2 years?! LOL) is that I was trying to "fill out" that loose, saggy skin, thinking it would look better poochy than saggy. Umm.. No. I see your babies are still tiny, and I think that my twin skin has firmed up some over the past few years, so stay positive! Hopefully it will firm up / get better!
  • Well, I have never been pregnant, but most people who get tummy tucks are women who have finished childbearing and want to restore their tummies to as best like pre-baby they can.

Will the pooch go away will weight loss? Maybe, maybe not. Everyone is different. You have to adopt a wait and let's see approach, because there is no way of knowing until it happens!

I had a pooch (which is really a nice word for pannus) and a tummy full of strech marks from all of the extra weight on my body alone which did not go away with weight loss. So, I opted for a tummy tuck.

Maybe some Moms can comment about this!
