Jillians and Bob's Biggest Loser Programs

Hey Again Guys,

I was looking at the programs that Bob and Jillian supply on the NBC site for The Biggest Loser and they both seem a little bizarre. Bob's seems to have any calories a day at all, approximately 1000 calories, yet in the books (jillians and bobs) they say not to eat less than 1200? And Jillians has about 1600 on average a day, but this seems too many.

Also Jillian says that the only fruit you can have is Apples, Grapefruits and Berries? And no tropical fruit, does any one know why?

I'm really confused now :)

Thanks Again!

Hi,
Jillian has said in the past the she doesn't acually write the stuff on that website, that they just put her name to diets and things. :( So, i have stopped reading it, i have her book and figure that the stuff that she really wants to tell people will be in there. It all gets so confusing sometimes...:dizzy:

As to your question about the types of fruits, it is probably because other fruits are lower in fiber and higher on the glycemic index. Berries are considered good because of their fiber and antioxidants. Tropical fruits tend to be high in sugar and low in fiber.

As far as 1600 calories, that doesn't seem like too much to me, but it really depends on your body and how much you have to lose. The recommendation of not to go under 1200 calories is pretty standard because your body may go into starvation mode where it tries to hold onto its fat stores by getting rid of muscle.

HI, I have heard Jillian say before that the information on the biggest loser website is inaccurate. She said that the particular diet plan they have up there was a presonalized diet plan she used for one of the contestants from season 1, kelly I believe. Same goes with Bob's plan too I think.

I would stick to her book. This is probably one of the reasons why she is no longer part of the online biggest loser club, that and she is getting her own webpage revamped and is going to be offering her own online club soon.

The number of calories you must eat each day really depends on how much you work out, your age, your weight and height. 1200 calories is the lower limit you should never go under, it's not the number of calories you must eat daily, it depends on the person. Mine is like 1700 calories a day. As for the 1000 calories a day, I don't know where you got that info but I guess that's wrong. From what I've seen about the diet on the biggest looser, it doesn't go below 1200 calories each day.
