dark haired, on the red team :)

hottierockstar 01-18-2006 09:08 PM

the ranch

"The ranch" is about 12-15 miles from my house. I am planning on riding up there soon just to check it out.
I just watched some of the video clips on nbc.com and it reminded me that those are "my" mountains :D
The clips made me like the blue team even less, we'll see how i feel after tonight's episode :)

Dalotajr 01-18-2006 10:02 PM

WOW...the red team really lost some weight. Watching helps me stay motivated. :strong:

Jen415 01-18-2006 10:04 PM

YAY for Steve and Sarah!! Watching Sarah has really motivated me to get off my a$$ and get busy!

BethC 01-19-2006 08:01 AM

Wow, that was a great show last night! You can really see what can be accomplished in 6 months - they finally told us how long between the ranch and final weigh-in.

Sarah lost 73lbs in 6 1/2 months, w/a total lifestyle change. It's very motivating!

Alaynna 01-19-2006 08:05 AM

Yeah that was a good show last night....both teams did a great job...the guy on the blue team really lost his fat and replaced it with muscle...and the guy on the red lost a whole lot of weight, you could really see it in his face...this show is very inspiring , I love to exercise while watching it lol...

LaurieM35 01-19-2006 08:18 AM

Definately was a good show last night! I really thought the red team did deserve to win and I am so glad they did!

Star 01-19-2006 09:39 AM

Can you believe I fell asleep before the end? So my red won huh? Did the Blue team even congradulate them? Details PLEASE

SmartButt 01-19-2006 10:02 AM

I thought it was interesting that this show showed the nasty side of the red team girl (Sara), whereas the first one showed the nasty side of the blue team girl (Rasha). I suddenly found myself not rooting for the red team, because of Sara's attitude. I guess I have trouble with people who say things like "I'm a princess". Makes me wanna... :barf:

I thought everyone looked great. Sara I guess lost another 10 lbs after the show and Rasha lost another 15. Rasha looked beautiful as we all knew she would. I think that Rasha and Edward worked much better as a couple-team than the other. But, the other couple is younger, too.

Star 01-19-2006 10:12 AM

SmartButt - I'm gonna have to go on the Biggest Loser site and see what I can find about last nights show. Sounds like I missed alot....darn

crk05 01-19-2006 10:18 AM

Interesting show. Last night was the first time I ever saw BL and I found it very inspiring! It's funny, as I watched, I was rooting for team blue because I hadn't seen the first episode (and all the things about Rasha that people are talking about). Sarah just seemed kind of mean sometimes in last night's episode. ("I'm a princess, I have to get married in a castle!") Well, I'm just happy that all four people made such great changes in their lives, and I'm looking forward to watching the restaurant families next time!

ledom 01-19-2006 10:21 AM

Ha smartbutt - I noticed that too. It is so funny how we assign personalty traits to people that we spend an hour with on TV as if we have totally figured out there character. Well, I guess that's why it's TV. I think to do that show you would have to have skin thicker than an elephant if you thought about how you came across. The girls looked really good, but I think the men were the ones who really made the dramatic showing. Blue team guy started to look like trainer Bob - a real hunk. Red team guy really has a handsome face.

So then, it stands to reason that, barring any health issues, us "mortals" (without all the conviniences they are afforded and the promise of cash and prizes) should be able to do near that in a year's time, right? :o

Star 01-19-2006 11:02 AM

yogini - If you are very very motivated and stick with it thru holidays, good times, bad times, sickness, etc you should be able to do it in a year.....With a good eating plan, rest and lots of exercise. If you have a partner they would almost have to be able to support you 100%.
With that said - go get em!

marbleflys 01-19-2006 11:41 AM

I thought that there was only a 7 lb. difference in weightloss between the women.....Rasha lost 70 lbs. at the final weigh-in and Sarah lost 77. Given that Sarah was almost 60 lbs. heavier than Rasha to begin with....if it were a competition between just the 2, Rasha had a bigger loss.

I thought that last night's show was slanted to show a more selfish side of the Red Team.....there was no good sportsmanship. Sarah was looking like an immature brat. (but that's what we are supposed to think?)

I don't think these couples scenarios are very "reality"...they are scripted for entertainment, and the part where sarah's parents "give" them an apartment looked too fakey.

WHAT happened to KELLY MINNER???? They didn't show many shots of her body until the end, and she looks much heavier, do ya think? Her arms and her midsection?

Star 01-19-2006 11:45 AM

marble - thanks for all the info. I went onto the biggest loser site and I watched some clips, but then my computer messed up......I couldn't really tell about Kelly from the clips.....
About Sarah's parentes giving them an apartment - that seemed fishy to me too.....

soon2Bfab 01-19-2006 11:58 AM

Star... I think Sarah's parents gave them the apt so they could do this competition on their own & they would be set up for success. Steve & Sarah had to support one another & what a better way then living together?
I am so glad team red won!!

crk05 01-19-2006 12:00 PM

marble - good point. In this type of show, they do put all the footage together to make an entertaining story, which doesn't always necessarily accurately reflect the personalities of the people involved. Bad side of team blue in Show #1, bad side of team red in Show #2. It just seemed like Sarah couldn't stop scowling during parts of it. And the thing about the apartment was very contrived, agreed. I probably would have died of shock had my parents (or DH's) given us an apartment with their blessing before we were married!!! (Biggest Loser show or not!)

I wish I would have watched the first half of this!

Star 01-19-2006 12:12 PM

Hi Soon2be - You are prob right about the reason for the apartment.....
Anyhow it was a good show, wish I could have stayed awake!

happydaisy 01-19-2006 01:58 PM

I thought Caroline looked really good too. I don't know if it was the way she dressed or what, but she looked slimmer. Both guys seemed really sweet to me while both girls seemed a little spoiled. Now where are the men like that in my area! ;)

I guess, I lost 54lbs last year, but I didn't workout for more than 4 months because of a knee injury. Now since November, I've been working out 5 days/week, which is still not as much as they do on the show. And I'm always sore!

dawn7672 01-19-2006 06:13 PM

Kelli did look really big around the midsection last night. If she had not regained her wt., they would have happily showed her full body shot. Caroline did look like she lost weight.

tyneebutt 01-19-2006 09:38 PM

Once again I was motivated by TBL, last nite :) I am really looking forward to the next special edition!!
Last nite, I was rooting for the RED team, but I was also dissappointed by the attitude Sarah had.
Both teams accomplished so much, and they should be very proud of themselves for doing it.
As for Kelli, she may have put on a few, but as long as she keeps up all she has learned she will be just fine. We all have our ups and downs - the key is not staying down. Despite that, I still think she looks great - she HAS come a long way.

Anyways ladies, that is enough rambling on my part. I wish you all a wonderful day!!

Marble, I did not want to be the first person to say it but Kelly did look like she's gained weight and they would only show the upper part of her body. She is still a far cry from what she weighed before. I think she always had a "bulky" body frame so her arms have always seemed big to me.

GonnaLooseitagain 01-20-2006 03:49 PM

I dont typically watch this show, and I caught both episodes of this special edition, I was suprisingly dissappointed in how uneven the teams were matched, since everyone knows that the MORE you NEED to loose the MORE you can loose, so of course the red team would loose more. I mean look how many people here plateau at 20-30 lbs near goal! I wish they would have made it a more fair game for the contestants. I thought both did awsome and indeed benefited from the show, but I think the playing field was definately unfair!

SmartButt 01-20-2006 11:51 PM

The unfair imbalance in this show, was my argument against the "men vs. women" thing on the last real Biggest Loser challenge. The men had so much more to lose, percentage-wise, than the women. Plus no matter what "studies" try and say, I know men lose weight faster than women. I see it all the time. Look at these couples, even. At the end, neither of the men looked like they needed to lose another pound, whereas the chicks still had more to go.

I definitely saw some rolls of fat around Kelly's waistline in one of the shots of her. She doesn't look terrible, but she looked like she shoulda hopped on that treadmill right next to Sarah. She was saying she's as tough a trainer as Jillian, but I think you should look like Jillian before you have the right to be ;)

GonnaLooseitagain 01-21-2006 08:50 AM

Yeah, it is not right, they should have had them each within like 20-30lbs of each other as a couple, since the red team was close to 100lbs combined heavier.
