I'm married to an intense wrestler from northern Iowa & I'm a giggly girl like Suzy...so I guess I understand their connection.

Matt was so intense on the show, but when he smiles he's quite the cutie! Plus...just judging from the clips on BL & from what I've experienced in my own marriage Matt is going to have to move out of that old circle of "friends" in order to be true to his new self. (His true friends won't try to get him back in the bars!)

I wish them all the best! :cheer:

Here's the link to that interview:

Thank you ambabs for your starting post...I needed inspiration today!

I think Suzy brought some of that on herself....she could have made some special requests if she didn't feel like there was anything she could eat. It looked like a nice restaurant - you can almost always request that your meat be grilled, not fried, for example. When Seth went out with his wife he was the perfect example of this. I think Suzy was just a little overwhelmed...

Matt, on the other DOES need new friends - but that might be more the sober thing than the weight loss thing. He has grown out of his old friends.

Thanks for the link to the interview of Suzy - that was great!!

:gossip: :listen: Uh, the doctor didn't say that he had brain damage. He told Matt that one good hit and he was done. But that is the case for any one of us. Given his new sobriety, I don't think that he needs to be in any kind of romantic relationship. Matt needs to focus on Matt after the spotlight goes out.

I think yogini was referring to the fact that Matt has had numerous concussions, which are by definition brain injuries. Especially with wrestlers and other players of contact sports where the injuries can be cumulative even another minor injury could be neurologically devastating to him. Who knows how much of how emotional he is is his injuries and how much of it was just the difficulty of conquering two addictions at once... Anyway, bravo to him for conquering alcoholism and obesity at the same time, but I still think he needs to focus more on him before being in a relationship...

EEEEeuuuuuwwww!

Sorry, just my initial reaction :) If it's true, it would have to be the old "opposites attract" because, really, I have a lot of trouble seeing it. ALTHOUGH......hmmmmmmm....maybe now we know the REAL reason Matt helped keep Suzy in the final 3? ;)

I actually just read a newspapers article about Matt (I'm also from Iowa), and it mentioned his girlfriend's name, which was someone local--not Suzy.

So basically, it's just Suzy who said in that interview that she feels that Matt is her 'boyfriend'...yes?

Matt hasn't mentioned anything regarding Suzy, at least publicly.

Also, Suzy's BL goal was "To Find Mr. Right". Perhaps she mistook friendship for something more...and jumped to conclusions regarding Matt. It wouldn't be the first time this type of thing has happened, and it won't be the last (I'm not just talking about Suzy, but in general - where a friendship is misconstrued to be something more, KWIM?)

I listened to the interview a few days ago and from what Suzy said, whatever happened to make her think that this was a 'boyfriend/girlfriend' thing, occurred during time the contestants were in LA for the finale. That was what, 2 days, maybe 3 at the most. There's no date on the Seattle interview that I could see, I guess it was filmed RIGHT after she got home.

My sister gets Us Magazine - I haven't read the particular issue yet but she told me there was an article on Matt in the most current one (or maybe by this time, it was last week's) which MIGHT have insinuated that Suzy and him were dating, but Us has a tendency to reeeeeeally stretch the truth (or have a headline/byline that insinuates one thing then when you read the article you realize it's not true, just an assumption on the writer's part, or totally blown out of proportion...). People Magazine IMO has a better rep about accurate reporting. Us, Star, and In Touch are pretty much gossip rags...

Anyway...judging from the way that Suzy was acting in the finale (totally hyped up and excited - If I were Mrs. Seth, I would have been taken aback at the way that Suzy was ALL OVER HIM) my personal opinion is that during the Seattle interview, she was still suffering from "foot in mouth disease" or "her mouth runneth over"...maybe she should've asked Matt before saying he was her "boyfriend". I mean if they ARE an "item" then great for them, if not, she is just going to end up embarrassing both of them!

So far, Matt has said nary a word, as far as I know.

Here's a link to the local paper. It doesn't say much, but it says his girlfriend's name (Drea):

Well that first article was pretty interesting...it doesn't sound like he's planning on leaving Iowa any time soon, despite Suzy's remark to the contrary:

Quote:

"Matt just wants to help people in any way he can," Carla says with fondness for her friend. "He wants to travel to Iowa schools and talk with students about health, nutrition and positive attitudes. Any school that needs that kind of caring person should look him up!"
Oops...actually both links you posted were the same ones...

oh woops--sorry--here's the People one~~

I actually think matt is a very deep person, emotionally! not every one wears feelings on their sleeves!
i really think he is a wonderfull, deeply caring person! and god that smile on his reunion show, really was amazing!!!!!!!!!

Suzy is wonderful too, but very open, and also very young emotionally, needs a lot of daily support, and really needs a big support network of family and friends.
where as matt, could do it on his own, he is his own.. motivator and probably prefers to be alone to battle out his problems.

I wouldn't care if they were a couple, but they have totally opposite needs, and everybody here thinks matt is not good enough for suzie, i think MATT IS A STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as is suzie!!!!!!!!! they both deserve nothing but the best! whether with each other, or with others.

Well jeez, I never said I thought Matt wasn't 'good enough' for Suzy...

All I can say is...if People magazine says so, then it's probably true - but if I were Suzy, I would've kept my trap shut, especially if Matt had a girlfriend in Iowa...just to spare any hurt feelings...KWIM?

happydaisy 12-13-2005 10:50 PM

Wow... Well I wish them all the best! :)

chiarij 12-14-2005 08:23 AM

I don't think with the emotional turmoil they're going through, especially Matt with the drastic weightloss it's a good idea for them to date each other right now. However, I do wish them luck and think that they make a beautiful couple..
