I can't believe it's October first already! This year is sure going by fast. My goal for this month is to workout at least 5 days a week, and to log/track my calories everyday. I definately need to step it up!

woohoo!!! :woohoo: way to go everyone!!!! :cheer2:

CanadaMel 10-01-2012 10:21 PM

Hi team-
Hope everyone had a good Monday.
We have a big weather shift coming through today, so our wonderful fall weather is leading to rain & people are even talking about the 's' word!
This is the first time in I'm not sure how many years that we haven't had some snow fall in September, so I can't really complain.

Plan or lack there of seems to be working well. I've been allowing myself some grains/carbs- bread type stuff at lunch which seems to help keep me full until dinner. I've cut out my snack of a cup of cheerios at 2pm as I think that just added fuel to the fire to keep snacking. I've reduced my dinner portions by 1/4 - 1/3 and so far it seems to be working. We'll see how long I can keep it up and hopefully it doesn't backfire.
More amazing is that TOM is knockin' on the door so I may even get a woosh for next weigh it. THat is if I can keep my eating in check with Canadian Thanksgiving next Monday. I see a turkey dinner in my future.
Have a great evening all.

Riddy 10-01-2012 10:45 PM

Mmmmmm, turkey! :turkey: Frozen breast is on sale at my grocery store this week, but no way in  I can eat a whole turkey breast before it goes bad or I get sick of it. :p

I started of the week great - warm spa yoga after work tonight. Something to make me look forward to mondays.

westcoast rosa 10-01-2012 11:14 PM

Hello all. I had a great weekend away! Kept up with my workouts, I barely had any adult beverages and kept my portions in check.

My 8k is on Sunday and I am sooo nervous! I really wish I had my running partner, but I am going to perfect the running mix on my mp3 player so that should help keep me motivated. Since my hip is still acting up, I doubt I will make the time I wanted, so I am just treating it is another workout. I love running and I am 40 lbs lighter than when I started 14 weeks ago, so I can't complain. I will just kick butt at the 10k in April!!

Here's to trying new things and doing things that scare you!!

Riddy 10-02-2012 10:08 PM

Rosa - good luck on your race! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I went out running before work today. I wasn't really feeling it - my legs just felt heavy. But I kept going because I got up early and I told myself I'd do it. To my complete shock, I was over 1 minute faster than my time on Sunday! :woohoo: I'm new enough at this that I'm not even TRYING to better my time; I'm just trying to finish. ;)

On a weird note, I had a lady in a car pull over and tell me I looked like I was in pain and that I should swim for exercise because it's much easier on the legs. Umm, thanks, I think? :?: I'm not in pain - I'm just a fat girl running. :p

CanadaMel 10-03-2012 09:43 AM

Oh my Riddy! Re: the lady's comment- I guess she felt like she had to give you her 2 cents worth :|

We got our first blast of winter last night (yes that's right we have the white stuff in the ground) and while it's later than usual, I'm still not happy about it :(

Eating still going okay- trying to keep it in check- though as the temp drops my need / desire to snack increases.

Have a great day all- Wednesday already...

Oh, Mel, it's just WAY to early to think about the "S" word. I just (reluctantly) turned on the heat Monday.

I don't like fall. It means summer is over, and makes me think how winter is coming. That means putting the convertible away, the white crap, and Mom & Dad leaving for Florida. :( Plus this year I have to figure out how to keep running through the winter. I see 3 options - buy a crap-ton of special warm gear and keep running outside with Yaktrax on my shoes, join a gym, or buy a treadmill small enough to fit in my spare bedroom. I'll probably keep running outside til I can't stand it, then pick one of the other 2 options.

I am officially hooked on the local yoga studio. I went right after work on Monday and again tonight. I eat a protein bar before I go, and have a quick dinner when I get home at 9pm. Monday was scrambled egg whites with kale, tonight was mushroom tofu soup in the Vitamix. Yum!

Narnia99 10-04-2012 03:20 PM

 I hope everyone is having a good week :)

I got booked in advance for a bunch of shifts so I am really happy about that :carrot: No more last minute call-ins and no overnights - well at least for 2 weeks. I haven't been exercising as much as I would like to though. I did use my Wii Bigget Loser game once this week but I wasn't that impressed with it. I'll still try to use it 3 days a week though.

Riddy - It's amazing how some people think that they should make comments like that to strangers :?:

Rosa - How was the race?

Mel - Sorry about the snow, I know how you feel. Before we moved we lived where there was snow 6 months of the year and I hated it! I like to watch it fall - if only it wouldn't stick!

kris2008 10-04-2012 09:06 PM

Still have the AC on here! Though it is much nicer outside for walking.

Congrats RainbowSmiles!

You running gals are inspirational! I'm not there yet, don't know if I ever will be. I do like to walk though.

Thank goodness it's almost Friday!!

This long weekend is going to be a wonderful test for self control. We have Thanksgiving dinners to attend on Sunday and Monday and it is my brother's birthday on Saturday!

My plan is to have one small plate of the food I want (with tons of veg and no seconds), to only have a tiny bit of dessert if it's something I really like (luckily I am not a big fan of pumpkin pie), and to have one alcoholic beverage at each dinner (if that).

Thank goodness my 8k is on Sunday because I think it will motivate me to stay focused.

Happy Thanksgiving long weekend to all my fellow Canadians.

Narnia99 10-05-2012 12:40 PM

Rosa, that's a lot of celebrations! Good for you for planning ahead! I thought your race was last weekend, but I see it's this Sunday so good luck and Happy Thanksgiving :)

You Canadians are so smart to have your Thanksgiving now ... it's always so cold for American Thanksgiving!

Dahlia55 10-07-2012 12:23 AM

Recovering from two vacations, nearly back to back. Now, back to basics and veggies, fruit & exercise!!! Weather is finally starting to cool off which helps to feel like exercising. Here's to a great week!

Burg 10-07-2012 09:49 AM

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians! Stuffing is my Kryptonite so let's see how this goes

Riddy 10-07-2012 01:01 PM

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian chicks!

Well, I thought my diet tweak was working. It's been 3 weeks since my last weight blip up, and sure as s**t, I'm up again this week. Dammit, I thought I had figured this out. :?::?::?: It's going to take til next summer to get to goal at this rate.:mad::mad:

Narnia99 10-07-2012 02:03 PM

Well, I am down 1 lb. but considering I seem to be gaining and then losing the same few pounds every week I am not making much progress. So, I think it's time to switch things up. Years ago I had a lot of success using a program called, The Leanness Lifestyle, so I am going to go back to following it.
Last night, my family and I had our Thanksgiving dinner as I have to work the next 4 evenings. It wasn't a huge feast and I made some healthy dishes so I could stay on plan.
I am going to do a workout before I go into work as I have been slacking off with exercising lately.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

shanhat81 10-07-2012 07:27 PM

Wow ... I lost all the weight I gained while away.

To that I say, kaloo kalay.

Apparently I'm a Sunday night poet!
