Angie- Congrats on losing 16lbs so far! Welcome to the challenge. What plan are you following? We have some great tools and such on here each week to help keep us all accountable for our eating and exercise choices. Hope they help!
I'm doing a metabolic diet that is basically low carb, lo sodium and low sugar. I eat mostly meat and veggies for now, but I'll soon move to the next phase where fruit and dairy are introduced in moderation. I'm also working with a trainer for the first time and loving it.

Three things i would tell someone just starting their lifestyle change:

1. It's not easy, and you need support; tell everyone that uou are trying to lose weight. I find people generally are very helpful once they know that.
2. Take measurements and pictures so you can compare where you started and ended.
3. Track what you eat - it's a great planning tool and keeps you firmly grounded in reality.

Hey Everyone!

My name is Christina. I'm 22 years old. I live in Germany with my husband of almost 4 years. We have a son that just turned 5 and started Kindergarten. I've been a t stay at home mom for the last 4 years, Now that my son is in school I'm thinking about starting to work again. I started my WL journey 2 years ago doing Atkins. The past 2 years have consisted of a lot of yo yo dieting but I managed to loose just over 60 lbs. I am now doing WW, but I also watch my carb intake. I try and keep to fresh foods. Since my son started school I've been going to the gym or going for walks a lot. I started the C25K program and will begin week 2 tomorrow.

Leslielou- I love the WATP dvds. I don't own any myself however on youtube they have one of the ab videos and I love to do that 30 minute one.

alwe74- Where in Wyoming are you? I used to live and work out of Burgess Junction up on the mountain outside of Dayton. It definitely gets cold there in the winter time.

dudesmom- I totally agree the WATP video that I do makes me sweat like crazy. It's definitely not easy. I also enjoy doing the Biggest Loser workouts (though they are often hard to follow) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE breaking out my Richard Simmon dvds!

sha25- I am a fellow calorie counter as well! WOOHOO! Good luck with your results!

armywife88- Welcome to the challenge! How exciting to live in Germany! I'm in South Korea on an island about an hour off the southern coast. It makes for strange hours though when talking to my friends and family and even some of the members of the red team back home in the states! Good luck!

Well red team, we are about to start our first week of the challenge. Good luck to everyone. Please use as much or as little of the tools that we provide to help you along with your journey. Please make note: You MUST participate at least once a week in the weekly threads in order to qualify for weekly biggest loser and overall biggest loser.

 everyone!

My name is Shari, 24, fulltime student. This is my second BL challenge, I totally flaked on the other one. Hopefully I can do much better on this one. :) I've been on 3FC since '05 so I guess that makes me a veteran? Mindful eating is my game and I walk to exercise, though I'm hoping to add Zumba at home to the mix soon. :crossed:

Jen- Glad your here for another challenge and I'm sure you can make it through this one! You have drive! I can relate to the always on the go, but not to the full extent that you are, as I don't have any kids, nor am I married (but I hope to be someday soon). :) What plan do you follow?

I'm not really following any plan right now. My whole problem with trying to lose weight is putting myself in the position where I am eating differently than others in the family and it ends up being too difficult to make separate meals. I want to have some treats in the house like cookies and pop but I need to not eat them myself! I think it is okay to have those things once in awhile, I am much more strict with my kids than I am myself and thank goodness my son would much rather eat fresh fruits and veggies than cookies. So basically I just need to cut back on things like cookies, only have 1 serving at meals, cut back on portion sizes, drink more water, cut out my morning coffee (4 cream, 4 sugar, that's not worth the caffeine!), things like that. Maybe this is the common sense plan? Oh yes I do need to start exercising more. It's one of those catch 22s, I need to exercise to have energy to exercise. Right now I have no energy, it is an ordeal just to get through the day sometimes.

ditto on this as well. I found that whenever I radically changed the way I ate I got sick within a couple of weeks.

Today's question: What are the most important three things you would tell someone to help them with their journey?

1. You didn't gain the weight overnight, you aren't going to lose it overnight. There are no quick fixes, it will take time, so hang in there. Every lbs counts!

2. Try to look after you a little more than what you probably have been doing. Women are so more likely to put everyone else's well being ahead of their own. You can't look after anyone else when your own health is breaking down.

3. Develop a love of water, we don't drink nearly enough.

lavenderblueskies- Welcome to your first challenge! I love how you said you are doing a "lifestyle change" and didnt call it a diet. It took me a long time is to get to that point. And it truly is a lifestyle change. Kudos to you!! What kind of changes have you been making food and exercise wise to go on this journey?

Thanks for the personal welcome. It's taken me a long time as well-- I've been down the diet road more times than I can count and have always fallen back into old habits.

Three things I would tell someone starting a lifestyle gnange:

1. The excess weight you're carry around didn't accumulate over night and it won't leave that way either. Find an eating plan you can live with for the long term and follow it. If you fall off the plan now and then just climb back on.

2. Keep a food journal. It's sometimes shocking to see what you are actually eating on paper (computer screen).

3. Get in some kind of exercise everyday.

Today's question: What are the most important three things you would tell someone to help them with their journey?

1. It's a lifelong journey and if you mess up get right back on track the next time you eat. Throwing the whole day away because of one thing you ate isn't smart. Look at it this way, if you got a flat tire would you get out and slice the remaining 3?

2. Exercise is important! Even just going for a walk is better then nothing.

3. This is my favorite quote from Jillian Michaels "Why choose failure when success is an option?"

Today's question: What are the most important three things you would tell someone to help them with their journey?

1. Eat more vegetables.
2. Eat more protein.
3. Write down what you eat.

Great advice!!! Especially #2...so true!

Hi there! Sorry a little late for my intro. I check 3FC from my phone so sometimes I miss threads..didn't know I was on the red team until I got a PM.

So I started my WL journey in March, and two days after being OP I broke my leg. I just an MRI 6 months later + now need surgery, but that will have to wait until December as I am a full time nursing student (was suppose to graduate in June now fingers crossed December).
I have 4 kids, 11, 8, 6, and 5. The doc JUST told me to lose another 20 lbs although I've already lost 35 since the accident.
I have not done one of these BL challenges yet, so I am very excited! I will try + check in on my laptop so I can participate better.

I'm in Southwest Wyoming between Rock Springs and Evanston. I've never been to Dayton so I'm not sure where that's at.

Serval87- Welcome to the challenge! You have a whole gym at your home...that's so exciting that you have immediate access to all that equipment. I'm in awe of your occupation...an author! Only in my dreams though I do write some stuff down, I've never taken it seriously. Thats amazing. As far as the sleep stuff goes, if you can really work on getting a routine and getting in your sleep hours it will really help. Not only will it help you feel better physically but I find for me it is an important key to my overall weight loss plan because remember, you burn calories even when your sleeping! Good luck during the challenge.[/COLOR]

Thanks! Good luck to you too. As for writing, I've really only been published three times, and none of those were paying, so for now I'm not a 'real' author. lol :) Yes, I've been trying to go to sleep earlier, so I've also been trying to eat earlier too. Not doing so good on that right now, though. I'm going to have to make some dinner soon. I'm thinking quinoa with sauteed peppers and tomatoes over salad. :)

Hi everyone, sorry I'm a little late on my intro. My name is Suzanne and I live in Oregon. I'll be 50 (ouch!) in a couple months, and I like to knit, hang out with friends, shop, stuff like that. I participated in these challenges before and was losing some weight, but then got away from it and my weight started creeping back up. Looking forward to losing weight with you!
