Red Team Chat Thread Week 9 (7/26-8/1)

Hello ladies. Results to come tomorrow. Unfortunately we lost three more members this weigh in. I'm beginning to feel really uncomfortable with the position of leader of the team because I can't help but feel responsible for people dropping out of the challenge because I am the one who has to enforce the rules that both teams follow.

So, yeah I'm kind of down and out right now.

I hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Aclai4067 07-25-2010 11:11 PM

Shan, it's totally not your fault. The numbers drop like this in every challenge, and with busy summer schedules, people just forget to weigh in. Don't doubt your position as team leader; you've done great!

tinabinab 07-25-2010 11:41 PM

You've done a great job, Shan, we're lucky to have you! Aclai is right, this is just how it goes with these challenges, and summer ones especially...

Bigmid 07-26-2010 12:06 AM

Hi Red Team just coming over to say Hi and see how you are all doing

Shan don't take losing people personally we are here to enforce the rules, offer encouragement and try to offer up some motivation whenever possible. Unfortunatly some people drop out due to time, loss of interest, busy life, etc it has nothing to do with you. You are a great leader and I for one have appreciated all the help you gave starting this up and doing both teams while I was on vacation. All the challanges lose half or more of the members by the end. The Blue Team just lost 4 more this week as well. It's all a part of the challange. Your doing awesome:)

shan84 07-26-2010 12:18 AM

Thank you ladies for the encouragement. Results are posted! Good job to everyone this week. It was a close call with the blue team. Let's rock it for this next week!

Passionista 07-26-2010 12:55 AM

Someone has to be the enforcer if there are rules to follow! Don't feel bad. Thanks for the effort and time you put into this!

TERAPET 07-26-2010 08:43 AM

Good Morning Girls,

Shan-It is just the nature of these challenges. Not to worry. Now maybe we can beat the blue team:devil:

Yesterday I walked up Kennesaw Mtn for the third time this summer. I am getting so much better at it. I love the benefits of losing weight and exercising (but I miss eating cookies and cheez its, really!) I also did a bunch of yardwork this weekend. In the past either the heat or my back kept me from helping outside but I am much more able to handle the tough stuff now.

ChopperChick355 07-26-2010 06:01 PM

Hope everyone is have a Great Monday

Shan you are doing a great job- I have been in many of the challenges and yes summer is always the worst, I do believe because everybody does get so busy with life and it really does interfer with weightloss for alot of us

Well don't have alot of time so I will check back in later

tinabinab 07-26-2010 08:37 PM

Congrats Doc2b on being our biggest loser this week!!

I am celebrating today as I officially hit my 50 lb mark this morning. It's been eluding me for quite a while, but there it was today in black and white! Wahoo! It's actually a double milestone day as 188 was the lowest I ever got with my last wl effort. So to pass that up really is a big deal to my psyche. :)

Hope everyone has a great week 9!

Aclai4067 07-26-2010 08:51 PM

Congrats on you're double-milestone tinabinab. My double milestone will be 222; it will be the smallest I've been in my adult life and half-way to goal.

Well I made it through day three POP, that's the longest I've been on plan in a good while. I had my challenges too. First, they brought a dessert cart around the building for tenant appreciation at work today. I was soooooo hungry and it smelled REALLY good, but I stayed away! Then, when I got off work I was starving because I didn't pack a sufficient lunch. Normally at this level of hungry is when I eat whatever I can get fast, which is usually really bad. But I stayed on plan and got some vegetable soup. It was enough food to hold me over until my planned dinner without using a lot of points. It feels really good to be back on plan; I've been kinda hating myself lately for being so off.

Have a great week ladies! I'll be checking in more as I clearly need the accountability.

TERAPET 07-26-2010 10:48 PM

:bravo: tinabinab. That is a wonderful accomplishment.

BlueEyes65 07-27-2010 07:50 AM

Shan- you are doing a GREAT job running this! There needs to be rules and people will drop out for their own reasons, It's not your fault.

Doc2b- Congratulations on being the biggest over all loser this week:cp:

tinabinab- way to go on your milestones!

Terapet- how far is it up Keenesaw Mnt?

We're in the middle of a rain storm now, I'm hoping it will let up soon because I don't want to get in the shower with lighting above the sky lite.:yikes:

Well I'm off to gather up a good breakast... I have decided I need to keep track of calories again on fit day or I find that I go off plan without seeing it in black & white.

Good luck this week everyone!:grouphug:

TERAPET 07-27-2010 09:35 AM

BlueEyes-It is only 1 mile to the top of Kennesaw Mtn but it is pretty steep. So far I turn around when I get to the top but I am thinking about continuing on the trail soon and then it is about a 5 mile hike. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to take with me and I am not real excited about doing it alone. My husband went on the 2 mile hike (1 mile up and 1 mile down) last weekend with me but he was very uncomfortable with it. It was really, really hot even at 10 in the morning.

CanadaMel 07-27-2010 12:34 PM

Hello girls-no trouble staying active these days. It's my day off & I've been running errands since I dropped the kids at summer camp this morning. We hiked 9 miles round trip on the weekend with the kids which was fun as they didn't complain too much. Work is keeping me busy with extra hours and training. I'll be glad when the hype is over.
Hard to believe we are in week 9 and that it is the end of July already.

Shan-you are doing a great job as a leader. I agree with everyone that the summer challenge is the most difficult due to changing schedules etc. No one to blame but ourselves ;)
okay- time to hit the road to my next errand. Have a great day ladies!

Aclai4067 07-28-2010 08:18 PM

hey ladies. Checking in here. I was a bit off plan last night. Tuesday nights are rough because I go out with my sister and her kickball team which typically involves mexican food and lots of beer. But I kept my points low during the day to minimize the blow and got right back on plan today. So far it hasn't caused a gain on the scale (not even water weight) so I think I'm okay. Have a great day!

ChopperChick355 07-29-2010 07:59 AM

Good Morning
Tinabinab those are both great accomplishments and doesn't it just motivate you even more .....

Well I have been staying OP totally for a week now and peaked at scale this morning and it is being really nice to me today so hopefully it will stay that way for weigh in this weekend :)

well have a great day ladies

MonteCristo 07-29-2010 09:22 AM

Shan - Losing members is part of the challenge, and it certainly isn't your fault...you are doing a great job.

I got my elliptical last night!! I didn't get it set up until 8:30, so I didn't get a chance to actually work out on it, but I'm looking forward to spending at least an hour on it tonight. I really think it is going to help my weight loss. :D

TERAPET 07-29-2010 11:35 AM

Monte-Congrats on your new exercise equipment purchase. May you enjoy many fruitful hours on it!

This morning was body sculpting and Zumba. It felt great! I have really noticed my fitness level is improving with all my exercise this summer. Someday I will have to go back to work (hopefully anyway) but in the meanwhile it has been so good for me physically.

tinabinab 07-29-2010 11:19 PM

Thanks all for the kind words. It really is empowering to break through old and new barriers.

Terapet - Good job! I'm totally with you on that - it feels awesome when you can really tell that your fitness level has improved - and doing Zumba and hiking up a mountain sound like such fun ways to get there!

Monte - Totally cool about the new elliptical! Have fun breaking it in!

Chopper - Thanks and congrats on being OP all week! I'm wishing a sweet number for you (and all!) on WI day. :)

Aclai - Isn't that what makes WW so doable?! I couldn't live in a world without Mexican Food, Margarita's and Cake. (My top three temptations!) I love that I can occassionally plan those into my week and still be OP. Don't worry about it - you're doing great!

Nothing much to report - did about 4 miles in an hour tonight - was mostly walking, but threw some jogging in there at regular intervals. Thankfully it doesn't really get dark until 9 right now, so I can leave the house at 8 and the temps are tolerable.

Hope everyone has a good end to week 9! My BFF and I are heading down to San Marcos for some power shopping this weekend. Looking forward to picking up some slimmer threads for my trip next week. Good times! :)

shan84 07-30-2010 08:28 AM

Ladies I've been MIA this week because it is my second week of non stop travel. Right this minute it is 6:30am in Durango and I will be leaving today out of Albuquerque to fly back to Phoenix. Do laundry, pack again, and tomorrow I'm off to Waco, Texas for a week and a half. I will come on later tonight when I get home to do personals. Hope everyone is having a great week!

MonteCristo 07-30-2010 09:56 AM

I did 40 minutes of intervals on my elliptical last night...thought I was going to die there at the end. It was great!!

ChopperChick355 07-31-2010 09:55 AM

Good Morning - Weekend is finally here even though my weekends are busier than my work weeks with cleaning, riding and racing sometimes I look forward to Monday getting here just because that is usally a night at home doing nothing :)

Monte ellipticals are great and hard work you will see results if you stick with it and I am sure you will

Tinabinab have a great time shopping hope you find some great deals

Shan you are traveling alot and hoping that you are getting to enjoy some it :)

Well off to get some more cleaning done

Oh ya I lost 3.2 pounds this week - thought I better get it entered because tomorrow is very busy and I will probably not get time to check in and don't want to miss WI, staying OP totally is a good thing and I see results just not sure why I fall off when I see such good results???

shan84 07-31-2010 10:07 AM

Hi ladies. Well, I'm up 2.5lbs this week thanks to TOM starting tomorrow. I am traveling so much right now. Its keeping me busy but I'm been dealing with a lot of stress.

Anyways, just so ya'll know I have asked bigmd (blue team leader) to help me out a little bit the next two weeks as far as posting things and getting the team going each week in case I don't have internet access along my Texas trip. I will still be doing our weekly weigh in results it might just take me a day or two to complete them so I can post them for you.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I have my gowearfit charged and ready to wear today after I get to Texas. I can't get the software to download onto my computer but the armband is supposed to hold up to 14 days of data so my plan is to wear it, and then when I come back on August 9th, then I can contact customer service about getting everything fixed and running on my computer.

Have a good one!

TERAPET 07-31-2010 01:43 PM

Hi Ladies,

Tonight I am hosting a dinner party for friends. The menu is definitely not lo-cal so I will just have to rely on small portions. I have lost some weight this week but I don't know what my weight will be tomorrow after tonight! That should help me not to get too crazy.

Shan-Have a great time travelling in Texas.

ChopperChick-I notice your big trip is coming up very soon. How exciting. Is this something you do every year?

Monte-You are an elliptical fiend! Good goin girl!

tinabinab-Hope you had a fun and successful shopping trip. I have been out a few times but I have no idea what size to buy. I bought some stuff last week and then lost close to three pounds this week-(I do not expect them to stay off for the weigh in tomorrow). I think I may take them back. I don't know.

doc2b 08-01-2010 11:54 AM

Hey Everyone! I hope you have had a great week! Mine has been crazy. I started med. school, and it will def. be the hardest thing I have ever done. Hopefully I do not turn to food for stress. :) Well I am off to study some more and then going for a 5 miles hike with DH.

Shan- I hope your travels have been fun so far.
Chopperchick- Are you riding the entire way to Sturgis?
Monte- I love ellipticals!! My new gym has a couple.... so I am quite excited about that!

Everyone have a great week!

ChopperChick355 08-01-2010 02:26 PM

Tarapet how did the dinner party go for you last night? I am sure it went well

doc2b good luck with med school it will be stressful but you will be to busy to worry about food- how long do you have left?

Tinabina did you have any luck shopping?

Sturgis look forward to it every year been going since I was in High School and have only missed 2 years since 1986 have 2 boys so really couldn't take off their first year- this year we are 5 days to go to Yellowstone National Park then coming back into SD for the last 5 days of the rally - and yes we ride however this year I will ride with DH since we are putting on all these extra miles and a good friend of ours is hauling my bike to Sturgis so it is there when I get there, shoot I can't be in Sturgis riding B*tch (haha) hope that doesn't offend anyone just s figure of speech

Well girls I need to get off here have a Great Sunday
