Welcome to the Red Team's Week 7 Chat Thread!

The results have been posted...and we didn't win. :( But I'm sure we are all going to kick it into high gear this week and pull out another win for the fabulous Red Team!

We had a few eliminations this week...
dstill88
Ragazza Christiana

LeslieLou
...as always, any eliminated player is more than welcome to continue in the challenge unofficially. If you would like to continue to track your weight unofficially, send me a PM and I'll reinstate your weighin post.

ArmyWife02 02-15-2010 10:58 AM

sorry i fell out...i'd like to remain as unoffical member. thanks.
good luck to everyone this week.

crcossel 02-15-2010 12:07 PM

I am so glad I remembered to post yesterday!!!

However, we went out for sushi for valentines day. Here I am thinking how healthy that is....only to be up 2 POUNDS today. So frustrated. Want to cry. My body got down to 150 and now refuses to go any further.

cabinwife 02-15-2010 12:14 PM

I had to take a freebie this week since I was up .4 lbs. I guess that's what happens when you take a few days off! I am back on track and ready to go this week! Let's go red team, we need a win!

Aclai4067 02-15-2010 12:28 PM

Candice- It's probably water weight, give it some time!

Well, being single, I had V-day dinner with my parents. My mom is so supportive though. We had filet mignon with grean beans and oven roasted potatoes. And for dessert she made parfaits with angle food cake, 1/2 fat strawberry ice cream, and fresh strawberries. It was a nice indulgence without going nuts on the calories! Oh, and she bought me WW chocolates instead of the bajillion calorie truffles.

Ms Perception 02-15-2010 10:50 PM

Yeah, I'm out. Sorry girls! I can't keep up with stuff right now and so this thread was one of the things that fell by the wayside. I wish you all the very best and I'm sure I'll see some you over in the maintenance thread in no time! I've decided I'm happy with my weight and shouldn't stress over a few more pounds. Especially right now...maybe that will change once it's running season again. Thanks for the support! Love you girls!!!

shan84 02-16-2010 01:30 AM

I'm still here! My weight is not budging at all! I'm ready to kick it into high gear though. I only have four more months left here in South Korea before I go home for a 2 month vacation. I really want to make the next four months count so I'm ready to give it my all and then some. My mom went out and bought me the Biggest Loser workout dvd and the last chance workout dvd. Hoping to add those into my weekly exercise. I'll keep everyone posted. Posting here daily really helped keep me accountable in the 1st challenge, so I'm hoping to turn around this 2nd challenge.

jessicado22 02-16-2010 02:31 AM

Candice, alot of times when you eat anything with sodium, you'll gain up to 5 pounds of water weight! When you go back to your normal diet, the water weight will drop off. There is no way you ate 7000 extra calories of sushi to have gained 2 pounds!

Shan--I just wanted to say you are doing awesome! I hadn't noticed your ticker in a bit and I just saw it and can't believe how fast you are dropping weight. W2G!

Anywho, hiya ladies. Sorry I haven't been able to get in here and post more. I have been sticking with it diet wise though really the last week, so I was so excited when I lost those 7 pounds when I weighed in yesterday. I forget how much weight will actually come off if you really dedicate yourself instead of allowing a few cheats here and there like I have been. I really didn't think I was going to make it to my goal of 100 pounds lost in time for my tattoo on the 20th, but now I think I can pull it off!

shea5 02-16-2010 08:29 AM

Jessica - WTG on the 7 lb loss...that is awesome!

Shan - I have been curious how that biggest loser workout is, let us know if it's worth investing in :)

A good workout this morning, but my eating got off track a bit yesterday. No guilt, recriminations, and binge eating, just back on track today. Clean and nutritious...:)

chewysmom 02-16-2010 08:55 AM

Hi all. Sorry to see we lost, and lost some members as well. :( Good luck to all of you though.

Yesterday was a bad day for me nutrition wise. Mondays are always bad b/c I work 12 hr shifts on the weekends, and I'm just *tired* come Monday. But I'm back in the saddle today. :carrot:

shea5 02-16-2010 09:23 PM

Chewysmom - here's to being back on the wagon! :carrot:

Feeling good today, planning out my meals for the rest of the week, and doing some cooking to get myself there. Just made some tasty chicken, to use for salads and other meals. Ordered a couple of books to help me with my nutrition and working out, which should come in Thursday. One day at a time!!

shan84 02-17-2010 02:45 AM

I'm doing alright here in SK. Had a bad day at work yesterday, so I had the bf take me out for dinner instead of dinner at home. Didn't eat unhealthy food, but I did have alcohol. Plan for tonight was to go home to exercise and then make a nice chicken salad for dinner. Then, 30 minutes before work finishes, the big boss who never visits us on the island here, shows up and is taking all of us to dinner in 2 hours. So much for my chicken salad. I'll make it later tonight or in the morning and have it for lunch tomorrow.

I keep missing out on my exercise. Plus its TOM right now so that's keeping me a little down. I'm going to push through it though. I need a decent loss this week to prove to myself that I can do it and I am back on track.

MonteCristo 02-17-2010 08:27 AM

Okay, we need to get this chat rolling...how about a discussion question?

What is your biggest obstacle for weight loss, and what are you doing do overcome it?

My biggest obstacles are the fact that I've made poor food choices for the past 15 years, so I'm having to unlearn that, and try to learn a new way of eating. Plus, I have fibromyalgia and RA, so exercise for me is *tough*.

shea5 02-17-2010 08:41 AM

What is your biggest obstacle for weight loss, and what are you doing do overcome it?

I think my biggest obstacle is myself, since I have a lazy streak a mile wide :) I am trying to overcome that by exercising in the mornings, since if I'm already in the car when I finally wake up, I have less time to argue with myself about going to the gym. Also, I am competative, so I set myself out some events to race in this year. :)

tinabinab 02-17-2010 01:04 PM

Mine is snacking on junk food, at work. I don't actually snack much at home, but when I am at work is a whole other story. While I don't keep candy and such at my desk, most of my coworkers keep little community jars of tootsie rolls, kisses, and such. I am combatting this by bringing several healthly options with me to work each day (oranges, snap peas, grapes, etc). On the days when I do allow myself a stolen treat, I limit it to one or two at the most and really savor it. This way I don't overdo it and sabotage my daily points, but I also don't fall into the diet-y, restricted foods thinking that typically wreaks havoc on my psyche.

sweetandspicy 02-17-2010 01:12 PM

What is your biggest obstacle for weight loss, and what are you doing do overcome it?

I am my biggest obstacle to weight loss. I seem to sabotage myself lately. I eat something sweet then feel extremly guilty about it and then next thing I know I am eating off plan again. I have to find a balance, a balance of not feeling deprived and eating healthy. When I exercise I have so much more energy but I can not seem to find the energy to exercise. It is a vicious cycle I am stuck in. I also believe I am seasonably depressed. When it is cold and gray outside I just can not exercise and I tend to go towads my comfort foods. I am ready to welcome spring with open arms. In the mean time I am going to eat on plan and try to get in some type of exercise.

CanadaMel 02-18-2010 08:17 AM

I'm like Tina, snacking is my big downfall, but it starts the moment I leave from work. I swing by the convenience store and grab a snack (usually chips) because I 'deserve' one. It goes downhill from there.
I've been packing an extra large lunch, usually with extra rice cakes to munch on the way home and it seems to be doing the trick.

shea5 02-18-2010 02:36 PM

:carrot: The scale is moving...finally! with a vengance too, so I'm hoping to post a pretty big loss tomorrow :)

snacking is killer for me too, I'm really having a hard time with that. Eating a bunch of small meals seems to be helping though, and I'm trying to get a drink of water every time I get up to wander mindlessly instead of getting a snack; it seems to be working.

tinabinab 02-18-2010 03:17 PM

Wahoo Shea!!! Here's to big losses this week!!!

Mine won't be big, but I am SUPER EXCITED that I made it to onederland this morning!!! I, of course, did quite the happy dance when I saw that little '1'! ...and it is almost exactly my 6 month weightloss anniversary. :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Congratulations on making it to onderland!!

:broc: :carrot: :broc: :carrot: :broc: :carrot: :broc:

Aclai4067 02-18-2010 03:36 PM

shea- congrats on your big loss

tina- Congrats, I'm sure you're soooo excited! Onederland is like this mythical idea to me. I can't wait to turn that fantasy into a reality (although I kinda have to, since I've got about 40 lbs to go  )

Well I fell into my usual pattern this week. That is, whenever I hit a big milestone (50 lbs), I turn around and go off plan! So I will be taking a freebie this week and getting my a** back in gear for a good loss next week!

MonteCristo 02-19-2010 08:07 AM

Well, I just had my weekly weigh in, and I'm up 3lbs. Yes, you read that right. I did everything right this week, so I'm not entirely sure what that is all about. There is a couple of things that might be affecting me...1)I switched to a more difficult level of strength training, so I may be retaining water in sore muscles and 2)I started watching my caloric intake on a nutritional level, Protein 30%, Fat 30%, Carbs 40%. Which has resulted in me eating a whole lot more protein, and quite a bit less carbs...this has been great, I've had more energy than I 've had for a long time, but I have noticed that I'm pretty bloated...my pants have been tighter this week. So I'm pretty confident that this isn't a real gain, but it still is annoying.

jessicado22 02-19-2010 10:25 AM

Well ladies, sorry to tell you all this, but I am in the same boat as MonteCristo. I have been eating POP and working out like crazy and the scale actually went up this week, and then finally is at least back down to my previous weigh in last week. So I won't have a gain for the team this week, but no loss either. Sorry. I have no idea what happened. I really wanted to lose 2 more pounds this week because my "100 pounds lost" tattoo is tomorrow, and I am only at 98 pounds but apparently the scale does not agree with that plan. I am so bummed! I know I still technically have 2 more days to weigh in for the week, but I am leaving tonight to go drive up to where I'm getting the tattoo at, and won't be back in time to post for the week, so I am just going to take the 212 for the moment, and if I do lose in the next few days, then it will be a help for next week's weigh in. Anyways, hope all you ladies did better than me!

Ashley--I do the same thing too! Whenever I hit a huge marker in weight loss, I go out and celebrate by eating a huge meal or something.....kinda seems stupid as you're ruining some of the hard work you just did, lol. In my mind though it is a reward to look forward too, and also a little help in jolting my body's system after dieting so long. Whatever I have to tell myself to justify it, ha ha.

shea5 02-19-2010 12:32 PM

tinabinab - :carrot::carrot::carrot: 3 cheers for Onederland!!! that is awesome, you must feel great!

Aclai4067 - You'll do great this week, I'm sure; and that is a great milestone, you deserved to celebrate a bit :)

MonteCristo - I'm sure that that is a quick gain that will be gone soon once you get used to the new exercise and diet.

jessicado22 - you'll drop that 2# in no time; can't wait to see the tatoo!

So officially down 5.8 for the week; it was a little more down yesterday morning than today, but I'll take anything at this point. I'm hoping it continues, I feel like I'm busting my rear end pretty hard with the eating and working out :)

Aclai4067 02-19-2010 01:49 PM

Non Scale Victory
So I was getting my 50 lb reward hair cut and brow wax today and my stylist noticed that I'd lost weight. I realized that an NSV I'm looking forward to is that stupid rubber thing they put around you neck fitting me like it's supposed to. Right now it lays all weird on my neck fat, ugh.

QOTD ladies: What are your recent NSVs and what's an NSV you look forward to?

ChopperChick355 02-20-2010 09:52 AM

What is your biggest obstacle for weight loss, and what are you doing do overcome it?
I would also have to say mine is snacking outside of the home- I travel daily for my job and work in convience stores that make the best smelling food :)
anyways even some days with good intentions and bring mine own - I still end up eating other stuff- I have to get my will power back and I am hoping that Monday will be the day :)

Tina great job on onderland :carrot: you go girl
Montecristo, I to have had my 3lb weight gain this time around but it has been slowing come back off - you will get there and like you said you upped your routine and you could very well be holding on to water, next week will probably be a big loss for you :)

Jessica can't wait to see you tattoo either - you deserve it, make sure to post a picture

Well off to clean some house so have a Great Day

CanadaMel 02-20-2010 08:06 PM

WTG Shea!! 5.8 lbs in a week- amazing. Keep up the great work.

Monte- sorry to hear about the weight gain. Hope it's a temporary thing.

Jessica- hope your tattoo turns out great- will you share a pic please?

It finally seems my fruit & salad lunches are starting to pay off. Came up with a 1.8 lb loss this week!! I've officially hit 45lb lost now too. It could be the fact that I'm working 6 days straight- so don't have time to get out of control with snacking.

Next week I have 3 days off so I'm looking forward to hitting the gym.

QOTD ladies: What are your recent NSVs and what's an NSV you look forward to?
Not really a NSV, but my new thing to do since losing weight is taking the clothes that are too big, donating them to goodwill & go shopping there too for pants that fit.

crcossel 02-21-2010 12:20 AM

Well I can relate to going up and down. I'm stuck at 149.4. I gain then lose then gain then lose. And the sad part is that I am VERY OP! I track every bite. Blah! We shall see tomorrow. :)

QOTD ladies: What are your recent NSVs and what's an NSV you look forward to?

My husband is noticing differences in my body. Thank goodness because I'm not! Today he told me that when I were my tight leggings there isn't has much "love handle" hanging over. BTW, he said it much nicer. More like...."wow you are looking alot tighter through your hips!"

ArmyWife02 02-21-2010 10:45 AM

i'm finally back down to my starting challenge weight....145. i've been between 144.6 and 145 for the past week almost. been busy with helping hubby clean house and out doing errands. DD has had us very busy this weekend ;) she had a make up gymnastics (beginner) class friday night, then yesterday she had her first intermediate level gymnastics class then participate in a GS cookie sales booth, then went to a school friend's house for a playdate - which turned into a sleepover (she'll be home in an hour). and this afternoon she has GS meeting. ;)
i have someone coming later to buy my old dining table set. which i'll be glad to finally be getting rid of it. as i have the new dining set my parents bought me being delivered this upcoming weekend.
DS has a friend from his gymnastics class having a bday party i think this coming up weekend (his mom is to give me details this week). DD has gymnastics for 2 hours on next saturday (to makeup a class from last month for the inter level class)...and hubby might try to fix his boat this coming weekend since our neighbor (who helped his fix my van) also knows how to fix boats - and this coming weekend is a 3 days for him (hubby's still on leave-so no work) ;) so Saturday will be very busy again. and Saturday is also my bday. good thing i wasnt planning to celebrate, dont know when we'd have time to fit that in. LOL :)
we're still waiting on hubby's money from the deployment - per diem......as soon as we get that we're going to Dicks sporting goods and buying the treadmill we wanted ;) hope to get back into the workouts soon...but been so busy - its helping me not snack so much ;) plus when the weather's been nice i've been on the trampoline with the kids ;) so i'm burning calories with 'life' and soon will add workouts to the mix ;) lol

tinabinab 02-21-2010 11:57 AM

Thank you all for the nice comments! Definitely helps to keep my motivation high.

Shea - Wow, 5.8 is amazing! Great job!

crcossel - awesome! Love it when DH makes those kind of comments. It's nice to know when the one you love and see all the time notices a change.

Mel - Congrats on the 45 lb milestone!

ArmyWife - Thats the kind of busy that I like. :) Enjoy your family time!

I have a very stressful three weeks coming up at work, starting tomorrow. I'm totally dreading it. On the plus side, we'll be so busy that I'll be eating in the cafeteria everyday. Very easy to stay on plan foodwise anyway. We won that free cruise on our November cruise, so we're taking our freebie over Spring Break. At least I have something fun to look forward to very soon. That definitely helps! :)

QOTD ladies: What are your recent NSVs and what's an NSV you look forward to?
Recent NSV would be fitting into some clothes that I bought years ago that never fit. I recently took the tags off them and put them in the rotation. Yay!
One that I am really looking forward to is being able to see my collarbones. Silly I know, I can feel them pretty well, but want them to be visible again...

Hope everyone has a good weigh in and a great OP week ahead!

crcossel 02-21-2010 12:25 PM

Well I am so sorry girls but I am still stalled. Even after majorly upping my activity and burn this week. BLAH!

MonteCristo 02-21-2010 04:55 PM

QOTD - What are your recent NSV, and what is a NSV you look forward to?

Mine is kind of weird....I noticed that my calves and thighs were looking bigger, plus I was developing a spare tire where I didn't have one before, which needless to say was a little disturbing. Then I realized what really was happening that at my knees and my hips I was getting a lot thinner from the running and strength training, which made those other places look bigger in comparison. The NSV that I'm looking forward to the most is my calves shrinking so that I can wear normal knee high or thigh high boots.

Tamara 02-21-2010 07:30 PM

I'm looking forward to being able to do stairs without getting winded. I would love to climb a large number of stairs (in an office building) in a decent time. I also want to get better at running.... slowly but surely I will. Awesome question, tinabinab. I hope we have questions during week 8.

shea5 02-21-2010 07:54 PM

I guess the best NSV so far is just fitting better into some clothes that were getting too tight. The one I'm most looking forward to is to fitting into all of my smaller sizes in the closet.

sweetandspicy 02-21-2010 08:35 PM

I actually had a 2 pound loss this week however with my gain last week it just puts me at my weight 3 weeks ago. I am in a 1 step forward 2 step back cycle that needs to stop!! I did get outside this weekend and get some exercise so that has to help. Hope everyone is well and loosing!!!!!Sorry I have not posted more..

ChopperChick355 02-21-2010 09:42 PM

Good Evening girls- the weekend is just about over, dang it back to grind stone we go

Amy I have been in the same boat one step forward 2 steps back right now as of today I am only half pound under where I started this challenge.

So what am I going to do about it? well today I got all my meals planned, weighed, and bagged (put in containers)and put in the refridgerator for the week. I do walk on treadmil daily but usally only about 30 minutes and I do not see that being more as of yet, I do get up at 2:30 in the morning for work right now and drive about 60 miles away then work till about 2-3pm then drive home, let me tell you I am to tired to much more than a half hour.

You know Tina I would also love to see my collar bones again :) and you know we will be there soon :)
Cudos to you for getting in those clothes that you bought awhile ago and are now wearing :) :)

Well have a great work week

flowingair 02-21-2010 11:22 PM

Hi everyone, I hope to post more this week. I seem to go off track so easily. I really am going to work hard this week.
