RED TEAM Week 11 Chat

Here is the new chat thread for Week 11.

shea5 11-23-2009 10:11 AM

Rough week for me last week, I started strong and by Wed, it was going very, very badly...no exercise from Wed on, no discipline, nothing...and going into a holiday week too :(

But now we're at a new week, another chance to make a fresh start, and lots of things to be thankful for. I'm confident I can maintain for this week, then I'll try to drop this week's gain next week. If I can end this challenge at 242, I'll be happy. Not what I wanted to do, but better than where I started...

Ms Perception 11-23-2009 11:38 AM

I had a small loss this week, but I'm fine with it. I knew things may slow down a bit near goal and I had a couple treats along the way. Glad to be in week 11 though. I REALLY have put thought into doing well this week. I have done the mentla rehearsing..ya know, not taking seconds, splitting the treat things I plan to have with DH, and eating slooooowly so I can savor the flavors and still be eating while everyone else is. Anyone else have some good techniques?

sweetandspicy 11-23-2009 01:37 PM

Well I posted earlier and it did not show up. I even checked to make sure I did not post on last weeks and It is not there either. Anyway I was down a pound this morning!!! I know compared to most of you that is nothing but for the past 10 weeks I have been struggling to loose anything so one pound is great for me. I am 189. It has been close to 15 years (before babies) since I weighed in the 180's. I have worn smaller sizes than I do now but I actually weighed more. My body who knows. Anyway I did not have the best weekend I have had a sinus infection and the only thing that made me feel better was saltines and gingerale. My 2 enemies (sugar and salt) combined but I did not seem to do the damage I thought. If I can just get back to eating my veggies and drinking my water I bet I can make my Thanksgiving goal of 188.

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Shea- way to be postive it is a new week and a new start. Good Luck staying on plan!!!

Ms. Perception- A loss is a loss. If you are loosing 1 oz it is a step in the right direction!!! Keep it up!!!

jessicado22 11-23-2009 02:10 PM

Hiya ladies! Can't believe it is week 11 already....I remember waiting and waiting for this challenge to start. Anyways, sorry I can't check in more. We were gone for the week, but thanks everyone for all the congrats on the progress pics. And Shan--that is so awesome! And so sweet....yay you!

I had horrible TOM last week and overindulged...then kept it up over our vacation this weekend. Haven't exercised since last Wed either. Yet the scale was still down when I got on this morning! I thought for sure I was going to have to use a freebie this weigh in. Only a pound loss, but I'll gladly take it over the gain I feel I deserved!

shan84 11-23-2009 07:16 PM

I had a huge NSV this morning that left me crying for like 10 minutes. Let me preface this by saying when I left the USA to come to Korea back in February I was wearing a size 30/32 pant, and a size 26/28 shirt. Today, this very morning, I am wearing a size 24 jean and a size 2x shirt from old navy. I look HOT too! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!

Cape Breton Chick 11-23-2009 07:25 PM

Hi everyone!!! I am so sorry for being soo MIA... It has been one thing after another with all of this GI stuff going on with me the last few weeks... we have learned that stress is a huge trigger for a "flare-up".. sighhh lol the bloating is ridiculous and painful. I have gotten my call for my appointment with the gastro specialist for next tuesday ... one step closer to some answers .. my regular doctor is thinking celiacs disease but the specialist will do all of the necessary tests to find out for sure. I am sorry ladies.. with all of this I have gained 2 pounds back and am now holding steady at 202 for the second wee in a row. Good luck to everyone!!! I am so sorry to sound so depressing with all of my medical grumblings.. I really am not usually this whinney... lol
I miss being here on a regular basis though so I am making it a priority again to pop in at least once a day! I hope everyone had a great week and is ready for another great week ahead! :grouphug:
Congrats Shan!!! That is a HUGE achievement... so very happy for you!!!!

JasonsLea 11-23-2009 07:58 PM

 girls.

Just popping in to say Hi! Nothing new here, slowly going down again. Hope you all had a great Monday!

Luckybustert 11-23-2009 08:56 PM

Hi everyone! Also popping in to say HI and see how everyone is doing. I posted a 5 lb loss....woot! (Guess that's what happens when you forget to post your weight and have to take freebies two weeks in a row, right?)

Am really worried about the next couple weeks.....have been having some horrible, itchy, rashy skin problems and we are having some problems figuring out what's causing it. So yesterday I started a 12 day course of prednisone, which is usually good for a (temporary) weight gain....*sigh* and there's Thanksgiving.....well, I think I'll be okay on that part - hubby and I are going out to our favorite restaurant for T-day so we won't have a lot of tempting foods calling us back to the refrigerator time and time again! :)

ArmyWife02 11-23-2009 11:02 PM

it's been a long day for me....had to take our dog to the vet for his annual tests and shots. he weighs 114.4 lbs and the vet suggested he lose some weight. lol obviously she's never tried to walk the beast. LOL ;) so plan to put him back on a healthy food and 'attempt' to walk him more. I had to hold on to him for dear life so he wouldn't run up to the other ppl and dogs in the vet's office (i am just glad he didn't dislocate my shoulder) plus had to man handle/hold him to get his blood drawn (for the heartworm test) and his two shots. i was sweatin by the time we were done...lol i swear i burned at least 200 calories during that ordeal (forgot my HRM at home).....
then tonight i spent 3 hours in DD's room cleaning it and sorting thru stuff - so she has less than half the stuff she had before - cuz she claims it's too much to clean when she has everything out - well not the problem anymore. now her room is clean and i can see the FLOOR:) lol
DS is an awesome lil 3 yr old - tonight I was trying to get him to bed....and he went potty without having to be asked :) then picked out his pjs and got himself dressed (he's learning to be more independent) and then cleaned his own room - all without me asking. i am one proud mama - my 3 yr old cleaned his own room, and knows where each thing goes (think that's the OCD i have that's rubbed off on him)....lol my baby's growing up.

i plan to finish hubby's quilt tomorrow...i was hand tying the corners of the blocks, but that is taking entirely too long. so i'm gonna figure a way to use the sewing machine to get it finished, so that i'm not mailing it close to the stop mail deadline.
i plan to go to bed early, so i'll be well rested for tomorrow. i need to start catching up on my sleep - so i'm prepared to stay up late/early for BF shopping ;) lol

Bette k 11-23-2009 11:15 PM

Hi Red Team,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, it's been so hectic lately that I haven't even been on the computer for almost a week. I'm sorry I haven't been much help this challenge, it's been challenging for me. I need to get back into the weight loss mind set again, it's just too easy to be lazy and not work out.
Thanksgiving is at my house so I get to do all the cooking, which I love. It gives me a reason to make bread and lots of other goodies from scratch. We don't have much for sweets usually. I'll just have to send stuff home with people. Saturday we are going to go see DS, he isn't going to be able to come home fo Thanksgiving. We will drive 5 hours, see him for about 5 hours and then drive home. Lots of traveling, but worth it to see him. At least this year he is stationed close to home, and not out of the country.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
Bette K

Sunnigummi 11-24-2009 07:29 AM

Hey all!! I'm gearing up for Thanksgiving - it's my favorite holiday!! I love my aunt's wildrice and my mom's stuffing. Sigh, last year for some reason unknown to me I was able to control my portions with these two foods. I have no idea why I did that - everything else was a free for all. ;) Maybe it was my body telling me to slow down, haha. :) This year it will be a challenge to maintain portions but I have to remember that I don't want to undo all the hard work I've done so far. I would be ecstatic if I could post a loss for next week. This AM I weighed in at 152.3, which is a historic low (for the past...um...9 years) so I'm excited! I'm only 0.1 lb away from my 10% body weight loss on my scale. Woohoo!! I can't wait to reset it for my final goal of 135. :D

I'm also going home for a longgggg weekend. Really can't wait for BF shopping!!! (especially now that I can fit into smaller sizes)

Shan - way to go on the smaller sizes!!! That's wonderful!! :D

sweetandspicy 11-24-2009 08:57 AM

Shan- congrats on your clothes I am sure you look hot!!! You go Girl!!!!!

Armywife- good luck on finishing your quilt. I have made one quilt in my like iwth my grandmother it is beautiful and I love it but it was one of the hardest task I have ever tried to complete.

Suzanne- good luck with your meds hope the weight gain is minimum and good luck with Tahnksgiving I know it will be a struggle for us all.

Bette-hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving at your house and good luck with making bread I know it can be tricky

Angela- hope youre health gets better quick!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!! I do not know if I will be able to post the rest of the week. But I will try.

Ms Perception 11-24-2009 11:39 AM

Hi all! No time to post much, but I'm keeping up with reading everything.

Just had to say..YAHOO, Shan! That's an incredible number of sizes to be down! You must feel amazing and deservedly so!

Ditto on what Bigmid said, and I especially want to single out MonteCristo for the job she has been doing for the Red and Blue team.

Thank you,

Liz

Aclai4067 11-24-2009 09:50 PM

NSV for today- I saw TimTams (Aussie cookies) in the grocery and didn't buy them. I haven't ever seen these in America before. This was exceptionally hard to resist because I wasn't just fighting my sweet tooth, but the nostalgia associated with them. But well, I gained 10 pounds in Australia, do I really want to revisit THAT part?

shan84 11-24-2009 11:09 PM

Hey ladies just checking in mid-week. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with their families. Here in SK it will pass by just like any other day, working of course. Haha. Probably a good thing for my diet to not go off plan with all the good food im missing. I'm having TOM right now worse than I have in about a year, so not sure what it is going to do to my weight for this week. If anything, its dragging my body down for sure. Though I did still make it to the gym yesterday of which I am proud to have done.

Well I lost the weight over a month period, on the retreat there were no scales, so I just posted my previous weight until I could weight-in and we fasted on only water for one week, so that helped I am sure. I am very happy to have lost the weight, now if I can get rid of the flu I caught this weekend I would be very happy.

mtiger 11-25-2009 01:44 PM

Well I've gotta say i was just popping in to ask whatever happened to the results thread. I kind of lost steam in this whole challenge. I have not been losing, nothing exciting to tell so i just haven't come here. I still post my wieght, but that's about it.

I did notice there are results posted in this thread. Thanks Monte Cristo. I post on so many different threads, that i have neglected this one. I am committing to at least a weekly drop in. Wish i had some good weight loss news to report, but man, ... it's just not happening. I vow to myself that if i don't lose something in Nov. and Dec. I am joining a gym come Jan.

MonteCristo 11-27-2009 11:26 AM

Does anyone subscribe to Jillian's podcasts? I've been trying to find them, but having no luck. I've read several websites that say to search for KFI on iTunes, but I am still not finding JIllian. If anyone can tell me how to get them I would really appreciate it.

ETA - Nevermind....just found out that she quit doing them.....I guess I'll have to get the old ones.

ArmyWife02 11-27-2009 06:35 PM

well last night i stood in lines (inside and outside of the stores) and shopped from 1030pm-715am....then came home and unloaded everything (including the 2 trampoline boxes) when i got home before going to pick up the kids from a friend's house...i am still tired. i slept off and on from 1030am-415pm....trying to wake up with some diet dr pepper i got last night. about to eat (have only had water, 2 butter biscuits and OJ from mcd's)....so i have a headache. gonna have some left over ham and mashed taters. then soon it'll be bedtime again. but i saved a bunch of money so i'm happy i got almost everything i wanted for the kids' christmas. only i have left to buy is DD's guitar (walmart was sold out by the time i got there) and DS's bike and helmet. then i'll be done ;) then will work on getting the wii and ds games for DD, me and hubby plus his xbox 360. but will get his stuff closer to Jan.
have the kids coloring pages i printed from crayola.com with the new crayons i got for free from toys r us ;) lol
i hope to get more good sleep tonight and that the kids sleep in tomorrow ;) lol

does all that standing in lines and trying to stay warm and fighting crowds count towards my workouts? lol ;) i dont wanna stand up or walk for a while. i'm perfectly happy sitting right now. ;)i'll try to start workouts on monday - hopefully by then my feet wont hurt so bad.
the kids are ready to put up our christmas decorations...so might try to unbury them this weekend and decorate. and have to clean house....but maybe tomorrow when i have the energy ;) still have laundry to put away before i start on more. :(

MonteCristo 11-27-2009 09:29 PM

I hope everyone has been having a fun (and healthy!) holiday.

I've been watching the biggest loser season 6 while working out this week, and I must say that I've never been so disgusted with a group of people then I am with that Blue Team triumvate. If it was possible I'd jump straight through the sceen and thrash the whole lot of them. I don't care how tought Brady thinks he is, as mad as that group makes me I think I could take him out. It seems silly to get worked up about a tv show from a year ago, but they are SO VILE! ICK!

IgetfitNStrongforme 11-28-2009 08:01 PM

Antonia: I think everyone was upset with the game play from season 6. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving my friend.

Cape Breton Chick 11-29-2009 06:30 AM

Morning ladies!... Just a quick check in.. I have finally gotten rid of those 2 pounds i had gained back.. yay. i haven't had a bad flareup in a cpl of days... so now I am working on getting back into a routine. i have ordered the new Biggest Loser Last Chance workout dvd.. I can't wait for it to get here! Need some refreshed motivation. I hope evryone is doing great.. Igetfit, I hope you feel better soon! and Armyife... bless your heart dealing with those crowds!!
I am also wondering.. since we are practically in Dec. already, if there is going to be a BL winter challenge here.. I saw last week that the winter season of TBL is starting on Jan.5th, so if there is going to be a winter challenge here, I hope the sign up thread ill be up soon! I do not want to step on anyones toes and go ahead and start one.. do we have a Blue Team Leader?.. I feel out of the loop here.. lol Monte are you doing both teams? If there is no one already taking over a team for the winter, I would love to step up and be a team leader for the winter challenge.. :)

Cape Breton Chick 11-29-2009 10:43 AM

Hey ladies!... I found this link and thought I would share.. it is not a big read but confirmed that there will be a showw starting in January..lol

http://www.examiner.com/x-660-Weight...ntestants-ever

Cape Breton Chick 11-29-2009 11:02 AM

Well.. ladies it is now official.. We will be starting a new Biggest lLoser Challenge right after the holidays.. January 5th! Just in time to help with sticking to those dratted resolutions!! lol
Monte Cristo will remain your fearless and ever organized Red Team Leader & I will be taking on the Blue Team.
I will be posting a thread for the Winter 2010 Biggest Loser Sign Ups shortly.. before the end of today and will have all of the info there.. if you have any questions please feel free to private messege me. Monte and I have both written to the administrators to ask for moderator privilages to these threads to be able to properly "do our jobs" in leading our teams!
I know as with previous challenges, no one could gaurantee that everyone who was a returning challenger could remain on the team they are on now, but I will do my very best to place you on the same team if you so wish.. just make a side note when you sign up that if at all possible you would like to stay with whatever color you are now. I will do my best to get it done with making the teams even.

ArmyWife02 11-29-2009 03:11 PM

that's awesome ;) i look forward to being able to sign up officially for the next challenge ;) lol i was down to the 147s this morning ;) so hoping to get back into a workout routine this week....cuz in just a few short weeks, my parents will be arriving in town to stay with us (my daddy for 2 weeks and my mom for 1 week)...so not sure how good the eating adn workouts will be then...lol but i'm gonna try to get a head start now. i only have till end of Jan/begin Feb to get the belly flab toned up and gone. LOL i'm gonna try at least ;)

shan84 11-29-2009 03:58 PM

Looking forward to signing up for the next challenge. Just dropping by this morning to post my loss for the week. I'm down 3 more lbs. Not as much as usual, but I had TOM this week worse than usual, so I'm happy with the 3lbs. I'll totally take it!

Hope everyone has a great start to Week 12!

tinabinab 11-29-2009 06:34 PM

Cape Breton Chick and MonteCristo, thanks for leading the Winter challenge!

Congrats Shan! 3 lbs is great!!

We're back from our cruise; we had a GREAT time and I even WON a free cruise on the last day. How cool is that?! I'm still very excited as you can tell. ;)

Program-wise, the scale is currently reading 2 lbs higher than last week. Unless some miracle occurs by morning and it happens to read what it read last week, then I will be taking my first freebie. Not thrilled about that, but not really upset either. I did really good foodwise, but when I logged my actuals into the WW site this morning, I realized that my overage was completely due to the extra calories that I DRANK all week. :o Those strawberry and pineapple margaritas on the beach were just too hard to pass up! I took the stairs most of the time and even worked out for an hour on 3 of our 5 days, so I feel like I did pretty good considering. ;)

Anyway, I'm back and POP for two days now, so we'll see what the scale says in the morning. Well, I'm off now to go watch last weeks BL before it drops off the dvr. ;)

Thanks Angela, I am feeling a bit better today, the flu is a great diet aid though! LOL I am so excited for you to be a leader but sorry we are losing you to the Blue Team.... You are going to make an awesome Blue Team Leader!

Ms. Preception: I tried on that size 14 skirt today and it's now a bit loose, I started to cry. Size 6-8 here I come!

Shan: Congrats my friend on your 3lb loss!

Monte: I would be honored to be on your team again, I can't weight for the next BL challange with you as my team leader!

Tina: Strawberry and pineapple margaritas! Yummy, I wouldn't have been able to pass those up either!
