If working out could get me thin I would have been there years ago. I love working out but I always disqualify what I do by overeating. I'm with you on the clean eating. I am starting it tomorrow since I already had a sticky bun today. I want to stay with it until the 12th of Dec when we leave for Disney.
That's me too Mary! i'm great with the exercise, and then i wipe out all the hard work by binging!
awesome, glad to have you with me on the clean eating! we've got similar goals ie date-wise, so we can be partners in crime :broc: :cb: hehe and it coincides with the final weigh in for the challenge!!

Isabella, losing 14lbs on this challenge, is awesome!! :celebrate:

hope everyone has a kick *** week this week!

anyone have any ideas what the challenge for this week could be?

I have been wondering about this as well. I love having the challenges, I don't know if I would have gotten this far as quickly without them (and I may not have made it at all. I am willing to continue leading the Red Team, but Blue Team seems to have lost dixied for now, so maybe you guys should get together and discuss who you want (or is willing ;) ) to lead your team in the next challenge. Then we can work out the details for the Spring challenge. I'm also going to try and find out about becoming a moderator for this board, as it would make things a bit smoother if the team leaders were moderators.

Somni 11-23-2009 09:51 AM

Hi everyone,

Haven't been feeling well lately, just a bout of the tummy flu I think. I was surprised I gained.. but TOM just hit and I've been feeling kind of bloated ugh. We're off to spend the week with DH's family -- hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving has a great one!

Diva 11-23-2009 10:30 AM

Yeah I do agree that there needs to be some changes as far as Team Leaders go & Moderation of these challenges. I know peeps have real lives but it's disappointing when your Team leader abandons the team. I think a promise is a promise but whatever. I know I've lost all motivation for this. I think I'll still post my WI's through until the end but as far as committing to any more BL Challenges...I dunno...

The good news is despite poor eating habits as of late and virtually NO exercise other than packing, painting, carrying heavy vinyl, lifting, carrying and lots of raking, I am still managing to lose slowly. I was actually shocked this morning. I was expecting to see myself back into the 190's and I lost 4 ounces. It ain't much, but so long as that bad boy is moving downward. I'll take it!;)

retiredone 11-23-2009 02:00 PM

Good afternoon Blue Team. Seems as if it was a couple of weeks ago when this challenge started but here we are with just a few weeks left and then it's Christmas. That's the next big eating challenge for me and most Canadians but I know what's coming up this Thursday for my American friends. THANKSGIVING! Now, I'd like to take a minute to remind you all that it is a time to give thanks for what you have, including good food and not a time to eat everything in the house. :D How tempting to have all that luscious food in front of you. But you can restrain yourselves and eat "real" food instead of the fat-laden repast spread out. (You can have a taste though, but no binging.)

I've been noticing that most of the grocery store flyers have more and more "non food" items for sale as the holiday season is coming upon us. What I mean about non food is that instead of seeing lots of fruits, vegetables and meats on the front pages of the flyers, I'm now seeing party trays, chocolates, cookies, cakes and other tempting morsels that are not only fat and sugar laden but expensive as well. Food is supposed to nourish us but these dainties don't nourish anything but the fat we're trying to get rid of. How is it that we can't have a great time together at a party (be it just family and close friends) without the junk. Couldn't we have wonderful trays of fruit with a sensible yogurt dip instead of the dozens of varieties of cookies and pastries that usually crowd our tables? How about a big pot of vegetable soup and crusty rolls with great cheeses and slices of real meats or vegetables instead of the fat-laden entrees that we seem to think we have to serve. I'm no Scrooge and I do like the cookies, cakes and pies but I'm sick of eating myself under the table. As I get a bit older and possibly wiser, I'm doing less cooking and baking for the holidays and I'm certainly doing much less grocery shopping for junk. This year I'm making a few cookies and a few cakes but I'm also going to be making stuffed dates and pickled eggs and beets. Dates are so sweet by themselves but with a big fat pecan stuck in the middle with a dab of almond butter I think I'll survive the "non foods" quite well. I'm not serving potato chips and dip, either. People will eat well at my house if I have a party but they'll be eating real food that I've made myself and know what's in them.

(Steps down from soap box, straightens hair and clothing and melts into the crowd.)

I had a great walk today. It's sunny and cold but just great for walking. Hope everyone has a great day.

Nella 11-23-2009 10:07 PM

hey girls!! This week is increadibly busy for me. I'm working extra hours and preparing stuff for Turkey day in the evenings. So I apologize in advance for my absence this week, btu it is what it is.

Diva - WAHOO on the scale moving down still!!

Echo - Yay for TOM being gone!

Somni - Sorry about TOM. It sucks I know.

Retired - I agree. The cookies and cakes are unncessary. A nice fruit and nut tray are just as yummy. I love to bake, but now I don't eat all of it that is in sight. Glad you had a nice walk!

Not much on the weight loss front here. I had been down to 166.2, but weigh in this AM was 168.0. Not sure waht happened over the weekend, ate out some, so I'm guessing salt is the culprit. But when you're out of town, it' shard to not eat out, lol. Anyway, hoping the next few weigh ins are kinder to me. Goal of being at 160 by the end of the month seems very unlikely now, lol. I think I'm going to have to break down and join a gym next week. I don't want to, but the exercise has not been happening much around here.

Institches21 11-24-2009 12:09 AM

I really hope someone is able to take over the reins for the Team Leader for us on the Blue Team.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and for those that celebrate, a Wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with family and great memories. I do plan to enjoy myself, I will remember it's just one day, and a taste of a few select goodies are already planned for. {I only need 4lbs to make my goal!! that I set for myself on this challenge}

maryshady 11-24-2009 07:37 AM

Got on the scale and was back down to 175 today. Thanks Echo for the idea of clean eating to get back on track. Two days down. I went to the mall last night and really wanted to share a Cinnabon with my sis but we both decided together we don't need that crap anymore! lol!!! Thankfully we made each other strong. :D Busy day at work today. Have club from 4-5 then a parent involvement night that runs from 6-7:30. Thankfully I live two minutes from work. So I can throw Chix in oven at lunch time come home at 5 eat and go back. We are serving healthy snacks at the parent involvement so I will be ok there send me strength for my club though. We are having a little thanksgiving celebration and I think I will go pick up a small fruit tray so I can nibble on that while the kids eat the junk.

Thanks for the reminder. It is so easy to get caught up in the eating to enjoy the holiday mentality we have all grown up with. I was just thinking to myself last night how to get rid of the pies once Thursday is over. Thankfully I have company coming in from out of town so they will eat some but with hardly no one living home anymore I need to learn to pare down how much I make. As leftovers will mostly be consumed by me. I figured I would send some home with sis and my ds. Leave some for guests on Friday and what is left goes out to trash on Saturday.

Hey Blue Team,

I too was wondering if we will have another challenge after this one. I know I don't post as much as some of you but I do read all the posts and celebrate with all of our accomplishments. I would really like to have another one as I think I have been doing not to bad (except the last 2 weeks) and have been inspiried by all of you....so Thank you to all.

I finally lost that dreaded 1lb and now hope that I am back on my way down. I was hoping to make it to 210 by the end of the month but not looking good so far. I had not been able to exercise with having that stupid cough for 4.5 weeks, but I think it's on the way out and now exercise should be on the way in.

I forgot to post my congratulations to week 9's biggest losers so I am sorry and a big Congrats to all of you.

Congratulations to week 10's winners Happening, LeslieB, and Nixmom...WTG

Congratulations also to the red team that is quite the loss you team posted.

Well must go get ready for work now, everyone have a great day.

happeningf 11-24-2009 07:59 PM

Wow I won?

That's crazy. I feel a bit disconnected from this challenge right now, and I don't know if that's 100% me or have a lot of people fallen off of the challenge? Probably me.

dream710 11-24-2009 11:00 PM

Hey team!

Congrats Happening on being the biggest loser.

Happening- In the beginning everyone is excited to be on the team and get started, then life happens and slowly the number of team members dwindle. Usually the team leader is involved, sets up challenges, basically keeps the team together. We really haven't had that this season. So you are not alone feeling disconnected. I think we should pick a team captain for the remainder of the time and, regroup. We have a lot of strong team members still around that we can still have fun and lose weight while doing it!

Bigmid- Sometimes they continue the chats between the official challenges, usually they combine the two teams to create one chat. Congrats on losing the dreaded lb.

Mary-congrats on eating clean! Sounds like you have a real plan set in place.
Only a few more days til black friday...wooohoooo!

Nella-I know what you mean about a busy week. It never seems like there's enough time in the day! I hope you finally get sit down and relax sometime this week.

Retire-Once again you're right on! Thanksgiving not only needs to be celebrated in feast but by the memories spent with your family! Ok you're "real food" has my mouth watering! I love pickled eggs and your dates sound yummy!

Diva-You sound so busy, you guys must be meeting yourselves coming and going. Only a few days left before the big move! I bet you guys are excited and anxious for it all to be over with so you can just sit and enjoy it. Has Matt decided what he's going to do school wise?

Somni-Hope you are feeling better!

Hi to everyone else!

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. I'm working 12 hours days this week counting down til Black Friday.

Does anyone have a favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving or a favorite memory? Mine would be sitting around the table with the family plotting our moves for the biggest shopping day of the year!

Does anyone have any suggestions on a new team leader for the remainder of the season?

Hope everyone has a great week.

maryshady 11-25-2009 07:26 AM

Got up early and put my brisket in the oven for party tonite. Pie making/sis b-day party. I have a plan on what I will eat 'cause I am not screwing this up. I will have one brisket sandwich and a big salad and a sliver of cold stone creamery cake ( my dd works there and we got 50% off the price) So they have become the favorite cakes for b-day's. Then nothing else for me. I saw 174.6 this morning on the scale and it has really motivated me seeing the number go a little lower each day. Can't wait to get back to working out. I need to go see my dr. cause now the pain has moved to my hip. Never should have went to chiro but was trying to take the easy shortcut way but it didn't work. Suppose I will have to do physical therapy now.

I agree we need a team leader. In Dix's defense, at the end of the last challenge she shared that there is a lot going on in her life (ie: major changes) That would send most of us for a loop. She has been a strong encouraging leader for the other two challenges I was a part of. My prayers are with her thru her difficult time.

We usually do just combined a chat thread for both teams until the next challenge starts to coincide with the next BL season (sometime in Jan). Or we could just continue this one until then we have added weeks in the past. Either way is fine with me. Monte was right though the leader needs to have moderator privileges or it won't work.

I got a cute email today with this poem in it.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my teammates in the US:

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!

Have a great POP Wednesday!!

maryshady 11-25-2009 07:47 AM

I know some of you were looking for heart rate monitors. I saw this one on Amazon. It is one sale now till black friday.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._rd_i=10805321

It wouldn't let me paste the image but go to this link. It is selling for 39.99 with a regular price of 149.00

Nella 11-25-2009 04:24 PM

Thanks Mary!!!!!

I'll be adding that to my ever growing cart on Amazon, lol

retiredone 11-26-2009 07:52 AM

Hello Everyone. What a trying time the last days have been trying to post. I keep hitting the refresh button and sometimes I get in but it's touch and go.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American Friends. Have a great day, give thanks and enjoy family and friends.

retiredone 11-26-2009 08:45 PM

Hi everyone. It's me again. It's so quiet on the threads today with all the problems and Thanksgiving. But I was wondering what you did (now that it's over or almost) to control over-eating at the big meal? Or if you did over-eat what did you learn to help next time? I know special times we all tend to eat more and we want to eat what everyone else is eating so how did you do?

retiredone 11-28-2009 07:42 AM

I just got off the scales and have lost 2.5 pounds this week. I didn't lose anything last week so I'm so happy this morning. This is my free day so I hope I don't blow it by really over eating. This is the day I have my dessert for the week so I don't want to eat so much to push the scales back up.

I guess you'll all come back after the weekend. It's been dead boring on this thread since Wednesday night.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

I totally agree Monte!! i dont think i would have lost 9.3 lbs so far - without knowing every week i was going to be held accountable! i hope we can have another biggest loser challenge after this? hehehe

ooh a spring challenge, awesome, when does that start? I think Mary said Jan? cool :)

You're welcome! and thats totally awesome resisting cinnabon!!!

My update on my binge eating problem. i have realised that i'm a food addict. but i've had 7 days of binge free (1300-1700 calories), and 2 day which were not mindless binge eating, but high calorie days (2134, 2420)

i saw the biggest loser special STOP READING if you dont want spoilers!

"where are they now" and so could relate to Erik i think it was, that said he is a food addict. i really liked his story about how he thought it would have to be blood sweat and tears to lose the weight again and bob was like, no it doesnt have to be, its balance.

and it made me realise, how every single day DOES make a difference, whether its going up or down the scale. everyday we have to make a decision to do that workout, to eat within our calories, to eat healthy.

--
congrats to the Red team for winning last weeks weigh in!

and to our fellow team mates happeningf for being the biggest loser of the week! and LeslieB, Nixmom and Bigmid !

Do we have any takers??

I hope she's okay. yeh that's totally understanable. we've been doing okay. we're a strong blue team! i like to think Dixie would be proud of us for continuing on ...powering on through and supporting each other in her absence :cheer3: :cheer3: we're like the underdogs in this challenge and i always root for the underdogs hehehe.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

aww sorry Isabella! for not posting, you were right, the server went down, and it got really frustrating.

congrats on losing 2.5lbs ! thats totally awesome!!!

my update this week:

stayed within 1300- 1700 calories this week, with only 1 high calorie day of 2420 calories.

i've only done 1 day of proper workout exercise, and the rest of the days, been doing major house cleaning stuff, had window glazers on monday, then was cindrella scrubbing floors the other day for 2 and half hours, whichleft me very sore for a couple of days! and another day ran errands which involved alot of walking. and then past 2 days had complete rest. so my body has recovered and rested and am ready to hit the workoouts HARD today!

yesterday i had planned to workout but felt lazy - but watching the biggest loser Erik's story made me realise, that if i'm not ontop of things, i can easily see the scale creep up again. so everyday i really do have to make a conscious decision to plan and do my workout and eat within my calories. its easy for me to say, oh i cant be bothered to workout today, oh it will be fine, but no it wont. i have to workout 5 days a week, for 1 hour minimum.

i'm using my digital scale to monitor my weight daily which corresponds to my ticker. my digital scale weighs me slightly less than the official manual scale that i use for the biggest loser challenge, but i like the digital scale as its been helping me to stay on course. i wont change scales because i started with the manual scale for the challenge. but i think when we start a brand new challenge, i will switch to my digital scale. its less forgiving though! as you do clearly see gains, as opposed to on the manual scale where you cant physically see little gains or losses.

I'm going to do my last chance workout today! have a great day blue team. good luck with the weigh in tommorow!

this is my LAST CHANCE WORKOUT plan: will change to blue on completion.

workout 1: bike ride - 40 minutes - burn 400 calories.

workout 2: p90x kenpo X - 45 minutes - burn 430 calories.

workout 3: wind sprints - 22 minutes (maintain heart rate 80-90%) - burn 220 calories.

Total calorie burn AIM = 1050calories - equivalent to 1/3 of a 1lb. (0.3lbs) (30% of 1lb)

Total calories burned so far through workout = 0 calories. ~ 0lbs (0% of 1lb)

Hey Blue Team!! Just wanted to pop in and say hello... and to add that I had seen on tv that the Winter Season of TBL will be starting on January 5th. yay!! Also I would like to say that I am very interested in stepping up to be a team leader for one of our teams in the new year for the new challenge in January... that is if no one objects...I have sent off a note to inquire about changing Moderators so that we could properly move forward with these threads and supporting one another. I can see how the lack of organization this challenge has discouraged alot of people.. I think these challenges are a huge motivator, support and over all tool to our very own success! To this I want to add that Monte deserves a huge shout out and Supporter of the year award for being so on the ball for ALL of us and taking up that ball and running with it!!! MUAH!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and to all of those in the US Happy Thanksgiving!!

CONGRATS to all the losers the last few weeks! What an accomplishment to get through these holiday nightmares unscathed! I, on the other hand, am taking my 2nd freebie this week. Wedding, birthdays, left overs, and general stress have totally sabotaged my downward movement. But I am back on track as of today. Start 2nd round of bootcamp tomorrow so gotta regroup!

I, too, am totally pumped to have TBL show and challenge start again in January. You can count me in. I am determined to finish this challenge, since the last 3 I was in I fell out of! We are almost there!

Would love to catch up. Gotta go take advantage of my last day off before back to work tomorrow though. So have a great Sunday, and I'll check back soon! Be good to yourselves!

Well.. ladies it is now official.. We will be starting a new Biggest lLoser Challenge right after the holidays.. January 5th! Just in time to help with sticking to those dratted resolutions!! lol
Monte Cristo will remain with the Red Team and I will be leading the Blue Team!!
I will be posting a thread for the Winter 2010 Biggest Loser Sign Ups shortly.. before the end of today and will have all of the info there.. if you have any questions please feel free to private messege me. Monte and I have both written to the administrators to ask for moderator privilages to these threads to be able to properly "do our jobs" in leading our teams!
I know as with previous challenges, no one could gaurantee that everyone who was a returning challenger could remain on the team they are on now, but I will do my very best to place you on the same team if you so wish.. just make a side note when you sign up that if at all possible you would like to stay with whatever color you are now. I will do my best to get it done with making the teams even.

i'm so excited aswell that we have a BL challenge after the holidays!! yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee

oh just realised im gonna be out all day tommorow, so gonna go ahead and record my weight for the weigh in based on this mornings weight. which means i lost 1.1lbs this week according to my manual scale (71.5kg - 157.6lbs)

Bigmid 11-29-2009 10:25 PM

Hi Blue Team!!!

I am sooooo excited that a new challange will be startng Jan 5th and I truly hope that I can stay on the Blue Team. I enjoy it here.

Retiredone - 2.5lbs WTG!!!

Echo - 7 day binge free...that's awesome

Maryshady - WTG on the scale going down

MonteCrisco - Thank you so much for all the work you have put into helping our team. It is greatly appriceiated.

Cape Breton Chick - Thank you so much for stepping in as new leader of the Blue Team. I can hardly wait for the new challange to start. This one has helped so much and I am happy with the progress so far.

I would love it if we added a couple weeks to this one til the new challange starts as it would help keep me honest over the holidays:)

Well I just posted another 1.4lbs down which I am happy about as this is the right direction, but November has been a very slow progress. I had been doing so well but the one gain I had seemed to stay with me forever. Oh well December is a whole new month.

Good luck to everyone on the weigh in tomorrow. GO BLUE TEAM GO!!!!!

maryshady 11-30-2009 06:59 AM

Well company's finally gone. Things can return to normal around here. Unfortunately when they left they left some of their weight here on me! lol!! The scale was up this morning to 178.6 so I took a freebie. I am sure most of it is water weight as I had some high sodium stuff and made turkey soup yesterday. Today I am back to eating clean 100%.

Hope everyone had a good holiday. I am going to start working out again tonite. Very lightly I might add. Hip is still bothering me but I am getting antsy so I need to start with something. Exercise is good for my psyche as well as my body kwim?

Have a great monday!

retiredone 11-30-2009 12:12 PM

Angela, thanks for taking over the leadership of the blue team for our next challenge. I'm nearly at goal and I need some strong, positive leadership. :)

Been good all weekend with food and got in my 6k walk each day as well as today. I'm so tired, though. I feel as if I've been flattened by roller. Too much Christmas shopping on the hoof without a car to drag home the parcels. And today the wind was so strong I was almost airborne several times as well as I felt as if I was walking against a wall. One of the hardest walks I've ever had.

I'm gone to wrap a few more of those Christmas gifts I've dragged home on foot. Have a good day.

Hey ladies.. Just wanted to pop in and say the Week 12 thread is up and running so we can all move over there. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome.. I am so excited! :D
