So I haven't had any chocolate in the house since June. I decided that since it's been so long I could probably buy a bag of Dove mini's and just allow myself one a day...WRONG!!! Apparently I can't be trusted to have a bag of chocolate in my house. I've been downing about 10 of those babies a day! That's about 400 extra calories that I didn't need! Funny how some foods don't bother me and some are complete trigger foods.

Chocolate is like CRACK to me. I can't stop at one:D, so it is banned from my house!

Narnia99 11-06-2009 01:38 PM

Good morning everyone, sorry I haven't been around much. I have really been struggling to get back on track since being sick. I was up a pound on the scale this morning so that sucks, but it's completely my fault! Yesterday, I decided no more excuses and I did my first workout in November, and I felt so good afterward. So now I just have to keep it up.

Congratulations everyone for winning week 7 :woohoo: WTG Trekkie Girl, LeslieB, Maryshady, Bigmid!

Thanks so much for doing our numbers Monte, it is appreciated.
Thanks for taking over for Dixie, Mary.

Nella, congratulations on the pants! That must have felt great. I hope your SD is feeling better soon.

Happening, you look great!

Idealmuse, WTG on your run :cp:

Retire, I hope your son has a speedy recovery. I agree with Diva, you sound like a great Grandma!

Diva, that's wonderful that the scale is moving down, good job! Sorry your man is being a pain though

Echo, enjoy your new heartrate monitor and congratulations on leaving the 160's behind, that is awesome!

Bigmid, sorry to hear that you have been in so much pain. Have you gone to your doctor? Hope you are feeling better soon.

Alwe, I can totally relate to the trigger foods. I can't have any of mine in the house as I know no matter how good my intentions are, I can't be trusted.

A big  to anyone I missed.

Soon2BFitChick 11-06-2009 01:57 PM

Hi you all!!!

I miss coming here and keeping up with each of you and chatting and visiting! I need to come back more often. Are we having a new challenge anytime soon?

I want to lose 15 lbs by March so I need to set a real plan for myself. I need to count my cals again and just accept that I will hafta always watch them. :( Anyone else REALLY come to terms with that yet? That we'll hafta do it forever?? I have been losing and gaining back since I was 8 or so. Probably before that. And I just need to find out how to not gain back. :(

It's a beautiful day and my son is out early so going to walk down to get him from the bus. You all have a wonderful day!!

Hugs to each of you and can't wait for next challenge!!! Maybe I will be more diligent with it since I won't be having dang throat surgery. ;)

Selina

Narnia99 11-06-2009 02:34 PM

It has been really hard for me to accept that I will have to count my calories forever too. I just know that when I don't, I immediately start gaining. I was very active as a kid, (lots of sports in/outside of school), and I never even had to think of what or how much I was eating. Once school was over and I wasn't as active, boy did the weight start coming on. I started counting calories and I lost the weight and figured I was good. Four children later and I was right back to where I started. Even if I workout consistently, if I don't log my foods and watch my calories I end up gaining. I hate the thought that I will always have to do this, when it seems like so many people can eat whatever they want and not exercise, and yet stay the same weight. However, I can't compare myself to them, and I have to accept that if I want results, this is what I have to do. Sorry, for the long answer but I wanted you to know that I can relate to what you are feeling.

Echo 11-06-2009 03:31 PM

alwe- totally can relate to this. if its in the house, i will be more tempted to eat it , when the mood strikes!!

LOL Mercy!!!!!!!
why does everything that tastes so good, is bad for you! wish there was an alternative universe, where everything we loved, was healthy, like chocolate and french fries and burgers! and you never gained! hehe and more importantly we lived in that alternative parallel universe hehehe

Narnia - well done on getting back to working out! you go girl!

I also have come to the realisation, that counting calories is something i will always have to do aswel

if im not meticulous , i can gain weight SO EASILY!

i was listening to a podcast by jillian michaels and she talks about how obesity is a disease that she suffers from, and you can never be "cured" from it.

its like you just have to live with it and control it. whereas other people like Narnia rightly said, can eat whatever they want and not have to exercise.

its something that i've actually comed to terms with. and i actually dont mind counting calories. :) its fun for me! lol maybe the novelty will wear off, after doing it for months and months. but at the moment it makes me feel like i have a real sense of control over my body.

i can not be trusted and left to my own devices to eat responsibly and stop when im pleasantly satisfied, i just cant do it!!

so i need to meticulously calculate how many calories i can eat for a certain meal and what amounts of each food. i have an excel spreadsheet that i input all the foods i've eaten then i make a plan for the next meal how many calories i can eat and what portions of carbs and protein. as i am a balanced oxidiser, so i need both carbs and protein in a meal, otherwise i'm hungry like 1 hour later again if i just eat carbs.

i'm my own lab rat! lol but i honestly dont mind counting calories,as i'm seeing results, so i'm happy about that. but i do know the minute i stop counting calories and let myself loose, i WILL gain weight quickly. but it does take alot of self control to eat within my calories, as sometimes i do find myself wanting to feel really full. i guess will take time to get used to the feeling of just feeling pleasantly satisfied.

Hey team just stopping by to say "Hi". Been enjoying my days off. Haven't eaten over 1300 cals any day this week and have worked out every day but the scale won't move under 175. Hopefully by Monday it will. Tomorrow is our anniversary (22 years) but i plan to eat well all day and not splurge when we go out to dinner. Will do a 45 min hiit in the morning too.

alwe-I am the same way. If its in the house it is calling my name.

narnia-Congrats on getting back into working out! :carrot::carrot: I will have to do this for the rest of my life too. I have been losing and gaining this same ten lbs for about 2 years now. So I totally understand. Don't worry those who don't have to worry about counting cals or working out will get old and it will catch up to them too! lol!!!

Echo- I love that you are so disciplined in recording everything in a spreadsheet. I wish I was that accountable. It would certainly help me.

Mercy-get a body bugg or go fit not a sensewear. I have one and I love it but it was not worth the amount of money I paid for it. I got bored with it after about a month. I have been thinking I am going to start wearing it again soon. But then I forget to put it on in the morning.

Newshiny-Glad your back. How about a race to 169?? :D

Selena- Good to hear from you. Why don't you just join us in this challenge. Officially you are out of it but that doesn't mean you can't post or post your weight.;)

Retired-Sounds like you are having a blast with your gs. Saying prayers for your son to heal quickly and get home. How awful that he can't have any visitors.

Hi to everyone else!!

Have a great weekend.

maryshady 11-06-2009 04:43 PM

Nella-I am saying prayers for your sd too. Hope she feels better soon. Take care of yourself too!

Aw thank you so much Mary! so nice of you to say

have a wonderful time tommorow at your anniversary!!! :celebrate:

thats amazing you've been so strict in not eating over 1300 cals and exercising everyday! :bravo: well done! good luck with the weigh in on monday!

retiredone 11-06-2009 06:53 PM

Thank you for all your kind regards and prayers for my DS. He is recovering nicely and may get discharged a little earlier than we thought. It is so nice to have people I don't know (personally) take such an interest. Thank you again.

I may be a fun grandma but I'm a tired one by the end of the day. I now know why women stop bearing young when they hit their late 40s or 50s. It's a full time job to care for babies. I don't remember being this tired when I had my own and had full charge (with DH's help, of course) 24 hours a day. When I get in bed I don't stir until morning. Oh, my but he's a real sweetie.

It's not the chocolate that gets to me. I can have it in the house for months and not have a taste. It's the potato chips that are my CRACK! I haven't bought any since the end of August but DIL opened a bag tonight at supper and I had a few. I actually ate only 6 chips!!! This is like a breakthrough in medical history. I'm a full bag or nothing gal and here I ate only 6. But as I was putting the chips away I was oh so tempted to just reopen them and gorge myself but I didn't. They're up in the cupboard and I'm up in the bedroom and I'm not going downstairs again tonight.

It's nice to see Blue Team members come and post especially if you've been busy or distracted for awhile. I know just being able to put my thoughts in print helps me tremendously and makes me a little bit more accountable to myself. And as we're on the home stretch now in this competition every bit of encouragement helps. I'd like to get back down to 139 pounds by the end of this challenge. That's where I was when the pounds crept (no not crept--leapt back on me) back on. Then it's back to getting to goal.

Anyway, I'm a tired granny tonight so I'll say my goodnights to everyone and tell you that this was a post with YOUR name on it as I'm too tired to do personals tonight.

Have a great weekend.

Is a Go fit the same as a bodybugg but cheaper? I have been looking and the cheapest that I can find is 199.00. I don't mind the cost, what I am saving on health care from dieting and exercising more than makes up the cost.:carrot:

Bigmid 11-07-2009 11:43 AM

Morning Blue Team!!

Retiredone - I hope your DS is okay and feeling better, you must have some good moves to keep your GS so entertained. Thanks for the well wishes, I have thought about GB as my mom had some serious bouts of it before it was finially removed, but my pain doesn't quite fit - or maybe I am still at the earlier stages. Guess I should make an appointment just to see.

Maryshady - thanks for doing the stats for us if you need any help let me know. Congratulations on 22 years. Happy Anniversary!!!

Diva - Thanks for the well wishes I hope I will be on the mend soon. Please make sure to put yourself first. Remember you are worth coming in first.

Nella - I hope that SD is feeling better soon.

Echo - Congratulations on leaving the 160's WTG - congrats on the HR monitor

Narnia99 - thanks for the well wishes and WTG on doing your workout. I hope it gets easier to keep it up.

Well I am feeling a bit better, yesterday was a good day of no pain but last night it started up again. Nothing severe but still there. My weigh in at WW was better than I thought it would be. I got on my scale that morning and was up a 1lb but at weigh in there I was down 2 so I'll take it. I also weighed in this morning and I am down 1.6lbs, I usually do weigh ins on Sun for our challange but I have a work staff meeting tomorrow and have to be up at 6am. Whoever though morning meetings were a good idea is crazy.

Not much else new, I am heading off to do some shopping today and just hope I don't spend to much money. But Micheal's does have a 50% off coupon so I probably can't be trusted. Have a great day everyone.

Remember me? I have been too busy with work and life that I haven't been keeping up over here... I am up a couple pounds and am on track again. I really do need to make sure to find time to come here every day!

Back to work I go. The grading doesn't do itself...
