LMAO!!!!! thats hilarious!!! :Di never thought of it like that !! by golly i think you're right!! ;) come to think of it - my supervisors did compliment me that i was very meticulous when it came to data analysis and doing my experiments.:dizzy: and now its almost like i'm treating myself as a test subject hahahahahhaha seeing what works , what doesnt work with regards to calorie counting., losing weight. i think its something to do with the fact that when i was studying, i felt out of control, like i didnt know what the outcome would be of my final defence. so the one thing i could control was my calorie counting and the amount of exercise and calories burned. i felt like whilst the rest of my life was out of control, this was the one thing i could have power over. like even now- i gotta make minor amendments to my thesis and its abit stressful. so i like being able to monitor what is going on with me body wise. haha i feel like this is a therapy session, and you're my therapist lol oh and i once heard paul mckenna talk about WHAT GETS MEASURED - GETS DONE... which is so true. so i use it in all aspects of my life. there was this one study (i think), that people who monitor the number of steps they take (for eg) take MORE steps, than those that dont. also i heard jillian talk about, how when you're exercising, treat it like a game. like last time, you ran X number of minutes, this time, try to beat that.... or go abit faster than last time. i really love learning about the whole phenomenon of weight loss, metabolism etc. it really fascinates me and i'm really passionate about it! :book2: |

You and I have at least a "good compulsion" in that what we do will make us healthier and stronger. You rock Echo, compulsion notwithstanding:D |

:thanks1:Happy Thanksgiving weekend Retired! I hope you have a blessed Holiday weekend. Don't eat too much! Echo, you are so funny. I swear your post always make me smile and giggle! And Twitter??? EW!!!! Plurk & Facebook is where it's at woman! :) But I am Diva0467 on Twitter. I rarely check it though... Sounds like everyone is doing great! I am feeling less stressed and still doing well on the eating. No exercise though. it's taking all my energy taking care of Matty & keeping this house clean and germ free. The scale has gone down a few ounces. So That's good. :) Anyhoo, back to my chores. Hugs all!!! |
It's me again. I'm busy making food for Saturday's big dinner. Here's a new recipe for you. Canadian Thanksgiving is on Monday and next month is the American Thanksgiving and sweet potato is usually on the menu. Most of the sweet potato casserole recipes are like a very rich pie without the crust. And the gooey marshmallow toppings on some of them are just out of the question for many reasons. So here's a nice "clean" sweet potato casserole that I'm making for the big dinner.
Sweet Potato Casserole 4 large sweet potatoes, cooked and sliced 1 large can crushed or tidbits or chunks unsweetened pineapple, lightly drained 1/2 chopped pecans cinnamon nutmeg 2 tablespoons brown sugar or sweetener of choice Layer half sweet potatoes, pineapple and 1 tablespoon brown sugar in Pam sprayed casserole. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and nutmeg. Repeat layer. Top with the chopped pecans bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes until bubbling. The original recipe had 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter, 2 sliced bananas, rum, and about 1 cup of macadamia nuts. So as you can see the above recipe is really scaled down calorie wise but will taste really good. Diva, glad your boy is on the mend. You'll soon be out of quarantine. |
Hey ladies! Are we all ladies on this team? I think so!! :)
Diva I'm glad to hear about your son getting better, and it looks like you don't have it, so that's great! The site was totally acting up yesterday, I got nervous I downloaded a virus on accident or something! This morning I had a donut AND a bagel! People brought BOTH into work! But I am going to make them fit into my cals for the day, I had 80 cals of tuna for lunch and am just going to have about a chicken breast for dinner, as well as some pickles and salad. I'm determined to make it work. It sucks around these times of year when people bring out the Halloween candy, I can't stand it! I pray that they always bring in the candy I hate, but these days, there isn't much I won't eat. Isn't it funny how being on a diet opens your eyes up to trying new things, and then loving them? Because you restrict yourself a lot, you venture out of your comfort taste realm and try new things... I used to hate bitter greens, now they're fantastic... same with cottage cheese, pico de gallo, various things. But the same goes the other way around. I used to hate cake donuts, you know the dense ones with the sprinkles? And I would never resort to eating them because if all there were in the office were cake donuts nothing stopped me from picking up whatever I wanted on a break or lunch or after work! But NOW: if there is a cake donut left in the office, it's CALLING to me. Because I won't let myself go pick up a treat, but if something is sitting right in front of me, and even if it's never been a liked treat of mine, it tempts me so much! Am I making sense??! Haha, I think I had too much coke zero at lunch today. |

Jesse is doing fine since I forbid him to get sick! LOL! He actually did the dishes for me last night and tonight when he got home, he told me not to bother cooking dinner and he took me out! OMG! I am sooooo keeping him! That was an excellent margarita too. I think I've earned that. Quote:

The Blue Team Challenge this week has been marvelous so far! At first, I thought - shoot, I'm going to be tempted with a bite here and a bite there. Well, I didn't. And now it's been 4 days on this challenge, and I'm not craving anything junky or snacky as I was last week! Whoo-hoo!

Hi team!
Just checking in real quick to say hi! Hope you are all doing great. I'm struggling with all the events around the wedding and whatnot. Two more sleeps! I'm trying to be reasonable but enjoy this time. I will be back on plan 100% when we come back form our honeymoon, and we'll just see what happens in the meantime. To all the Canadian chicks - have a great Thanksgiving this weekend! |

Ditto on the trying different things while dieting. I used to cringe at cc but now I love it. I mix it up to get all the lumps out and add equal and cinnamon to it. Quote:
