Red Rockets - Week 2 Challenge

This week is all about the exercise. Nothing strenuous just burning some extra calories each day in addition to your regular exercise schedule. The goal is to find ways to burn an extra 250 calories (that's equates to a 1/2 lb. loss at the end of the week) without really exercising. Here are a few that I found posted elsewhere.

1. Keep sneakers at work and pick a place for lunch that’s a brisk 30-minute walk away.
2. Fidget! A lot. One study showed that you could burn up to 350 more calories per day.
3. Shop for two hours.
4. Stand/walk when talking on the phone.
5. Ride your bike (or walk) to do errands.
6. Have more sex.
7. Plant flowers.
8. Join a recreational sports team- soccer, softball, tennis.
9. Take five 10-minute “stroll breaks” throughout the day.
10. Conduct meetings at the gym or on a track.
11. Do three sets of 25 push-ups, lunges, and crunches before you get ready in the morning.
12. Take the stairs. Everywhere!

Please share how you burned your extra 250 calories.

I'm on the phone a lot so I will go out to the backyard and walk.

I love my portable phone & always walk & talk.

When watching tv, during the commercials get up & move.

On my runs- each week I add a little distance to my runs & it adds up very quick.

I also like to park far away from store entrances to get as many extra steps in as possible.

This one seems like it could work best with my lifestyle, there are a few on the list I already do... FIDGET - LOL, planting, and I am starting to ride a bike as my daily routine.

I will let you know how long it takes with proper form.
Thanks for the ideas!

P.S. I think I need to change my cheerleaders to red now - LOL!

I found this information on line about easy ways to burn 100 calories.

PURCHASE A VIDEO GAME THAT ENCOURAGES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY such as the Wii Fit. It provides entertainment and exercise both at the same time.
WEAR ANKLE WEIGHTS around the house while you are doing chores or under your clothes when you run errands around town. To burn an extra 100 calories a day fast, skip rope for only ten minutes.
Burn 100 calories a day in ten minutes riding a bike.
Lift weights for 15 minutes.
Run or jog one mile in ten minutes to burn 100 calories.
Take a walk for fifteen minutes and burn 100 calories.
Run up and down the stairs for fifteen minutes.
Turn on your favorite music and dance around the room for twenty minutes.
Wash your car for twenty minutes to burn 100 calories fast.
Clean your house. Vacuuming for 35 minutes will burn 100 calories.

Took the long way home today instead of a shortcut...maybe I'll get off the busat the stop before work and then get that extra walking in/

Although... I'd prefer the 2 hour shopping :)

It probably wasn't 250 calorie, but I walked to the dentist, then to the grocery store and back in the 86 degree heat. A couple of miles round trip.

It's my anniversary on Saturday, and DH and I are going away for the weekend. Number 6 will definitely apply! ;)

You all are doing great.

I had to go to the store yesterday and buy a few non perishables so I walked, about 3 miles round trip. I need to go to the library in the next couple days and have decided I will walk there (about 2 miles RT)
